I know you guys from Diamond think that we're a picky, critical bunch. And we are! But we are incredibly appreciative of the fact that you brought this line back to life. I adore all of my figures! It's just that an announcement like a free figure for $70 worth of figures, coming a day AFTER you announced your most expensive first release figure hurt a bunch of people. If you could just give the people who ordered the Lorne a day earlier the same due as those who ordered after Spike was announced, I think that it would seem fairer. Thanks again for fantastic figures! Maria - That's exactly what I've been thinking! You put it into words! Thank You

I hope I get my free FFL Spike soon. Does anyone know if it is a one figure limit? If I order another $70 worth of stuff, do I get another one free?

They wrote me back and said the Lorne won't go toward the Spike, even if I ordered it mere hours before the other accnouncement. Well, I'm just not going to order any more from DST. This upsets me due to the poor dealing in retail, and I didn't want it to make a profit, just to display. Well, I can't complain, it's free, but I just won't buy any more figures from this company. And, welll, ever.

I understand the frustration here, but consider this.
If you bought a box of cereal for $3, and the next day it's offered as a BOGOF sale item, do you go into fits and blame the store? No, you just chalk it up to bad luck and go on. It's Christmas. There are huge sales going on everywhere. Toys R Us is offering a 12 days of Christmas sale where you get special deals just one day.
I get it. I really do. But sometimes life goes like that. I'm in the same boat. I got Lorne and Darla with the first offer. It would have been nice to get the Spike, but I didn't. That's just what happened. This is retail and we can't expect them to act other than as a retailer. Besides, they've given <s>BCC</s> [edit: RADICAL members] LOTS of freebies. I'm grateful for what I get. I thought the auto'ed figs were a much better deal than I could have gotten elsewhere.

If someone could post a picture of their actual received Spike w/Jacket I'd sure appreciate it! Or point me towards a picture if I've missed it. I saw the picture on the DST site of what he's supposed to look like, but I have yet to see a picture of an actual released figure. Even the ebay auctions I've been able to find are all using DST's stock picture rather than a photo of the real thing. TIA!

Thanks Xanderphile for posting the picture, I'm glad I spent a ridiculas amount of money for him on ebay!
Does it have how many were made on it, and what number it is?

I'm done complaining. I know people think it's silly. This just helped me along in deciding no longer to collect, I was losing the passion.

No, you just chalk it up to bad luck and go on. I don't think you can compare a huge cereal company that has a nationwide promotion witht a company that sells its products to a niche market. DST knew diehard fans would order the Lorne straight away, they also knew those same fans would be the ones to want the spike, thus they end having to spend more than they want to get it. I don't know if it was done on purpose to suck more money from their buyers, or if it was just stupid timing. Now because DST's products are sold to such a small market, you think they'd do as much as possible to not piss them off. And yes, i know DST are really great sometimes with their donating of prizes to the forum and answering q&a, but you know, that's just good business. But to not give a spike to someone who ordered a lorne mere hours before is bad business. Really bad.

Most stores will give you the discounted price if an item goes on sale within two weeks. And if there is an announced giveaway just a day later, they will definitely honor that, if asked. I'm talking about chains here. With small stores, it varies. But I have worked for two department stores and that's how it always was.
Even grocery stores will honor sales, if you ask a manager. You'd be surprised. Customer service is the top priority for retail businesses.

I think it was poor form for DST to announce blue Lorne one day, and then announce the Spike offer the next day, effectively penalizing people who ordered Lorne immediately. They should be trying to encourage people to order right away before their excitement wears off, not discourage them. I know they've just taught me to wait before ordering. If they didn't want Lorne to "count" as part of the Spike order requirement, they could have simply said you have to buy $100 of stuff to get Spike (basically $70 plus blue Lorne).
I would also think DST would want to count ANY DST order towards the total rather than only Buffy/Angel merchandise in order to encourage people to try their other product lines. If I'm trying to order $70 of stuff but I've already got most of the Buffy/Angel stuff, I may go ahead and try some things from Firefly/Serenity, Star Trek, or whatever that I wouldn't have otherwise bought. Then if I liked the nonBuffy stuff too, being the completist that I am, I'd have to buy the whole line, and voila, more sales! I know if non-Buffy stuff counted toward the Spike, DST would have $70 more of my money right now. But as it is, I'm struggling to find way to justify buying a bunch of duplicates, and I haven't succeeded yet.

I can't wait to get mine. I wouldn't mind them doing the same thing as they have done with Spike with other characters as well. I'd rather have new or altered sculpts, then trying to do customs and spending more money. DST would have to revamp the figures a bit and change a head, hair, a shirt here or there and get so many more figures out of it that can be there own exclusives through thier site, of course allowing Time and Space Toys to buy and sell them to the UK of course for reasonable prices. They could also offer these as show exclusives or BTVSFigs Exclusives.
Here's a list of the ones that I'd buy: Season 2 Spike with coat Vampire Spike without coat "Beneath You" Vamp Spike
Season 5 Angel with Vamp Face Season 5 Angel repainted to be "You're Welcome" Angel Season 5 Angel with sculpted Italian Jacket on top of shirt to be "The Girl in Question" Angel Vampire Angel Body with a Season 5 Angel head, repainted to be "End of Days/"Chosen" Angel or repainted to be "Not Fade Away" Angel "Grad Day" Angel body with shirt from Season 5 Angel opened and loose over him to be "The Wish" Angel
Chosen Head on Primeval Buffy to be "The Gift" Buffy with lines sculpted in a new top to be the same sweater that she wore Cheerleader Buffy head on Vamp Buffy body, made into a Season 1 Buffy Vampire Buffy with Human Face Vampire Buffy with Blue Jacket Chosen Buffy head on Vamp Buffy body repainted to look like "No Place Like Home" Buffy Repainted Vamp Buffy body with a new short hair head to be "Passion" Buffy Repainted Vamp Buffy body with a new braided hair head to be "The Wish" Buffy Repainted Buffybot without jacket to be Guidance Counselor Buffy from "Help" "Chosen" Buffy head on "Primeval" Buffy body to be from "I Will Remember You" If they would've had at least one variant with Buffys short hair from Season 6, there are just so many other figures that could've been sculpted from that look.
"Intervention" Dawn head on a Cheerleader Buffy Body to be Cheerleader Dawn "Once More With Feeling" Dawn repainted to be "The Gift" Dawn
Vampire Xander with Human Face Repainted Vamp Xander body with Human face to be "The Pack" Xander
"The Wish" Cordy head on a Cheerleader Buffy Body to be Cheerleader Cordy
There are so many more that I'd love to have as well, these are just the ones that I thought of right away.

Those are all fantastic ideas! I especially love the idea of The Pack Xander, Cheerleader Dawn, and Not Fade Away Angel.
I've already put human Angel heads on 2 vamp Angel bodies. I have vamp Angel and Spike heads, if you want them!

You are faithfull to a company. You spend 30 dollars on one thing just so you could have it, even though it is a repaint , then the next day they do this. I said in one of my posts that DST is a smart company. I still hold my word for that. Because I knwo that they try to get more money. They were very smart and witty to decide to release a figure the day before a huge sale.

I don't plan on buying from DST again, let alone another figure. I know I'm the only one who thinks this way, but I've just got to let it go. If being smart means cheating the people who buy your figures out of more money in that kind of way, I'm not sure what to think of the word "smart" anymore.

So, like, I'm confused. Is it even possible to still get a jacketed Spike if you buy whatever amount? I got my Lorne, with which I am very happy (I'm 258, but you can still read poor Andy Hallett's signature quite well). Is jacketed Spike only a "to go" special? I don't want to go over to Diamond to look, because I haven't gotten as jaded as Hadley yet. Would that I would. What are the requirements for getting one?

You have to purchase $70 worth of Buffy/Angel merchandise to receive the free Spike. the controversy happened because DST announced the Free figure a day after they announced the New lorne and then would not allow all the people who bought the Lorne the day before to apply the $30 that they paid for the Lorne to go towards the $70 needed for the Free Spike. Truly Bad customer relations if you ask me.

This is a question for everyone who has already received their Spikes. How long after you received your $70 worth of stuff did your Spike arrive? My $70 order arrived over a week ago and I am still waiting on my Spike.

My first Spike arrived a week before I received any of my other stuff. My second Spike arrived at the same day, but in a different package.
