I have way more than $70 worth of figures to purchase, so this just motivates me to buy them from DST, which I'm sure was the idea.
It's too bad the Serenity figures don't count. I need the Final Battle Mal and Reaver figures.

Well, I broke down and ordered a few more things at DST. I had already ordered a Lorne so I ordered another for a friend of mine and also ordered a EOD Deluxe Faith (now I'll have one to display with her jacket on). I guess I won't have to pop and swap one now. BTW, I emailed DST yesterday asking if they still had the Spikes because I didn't want to go over $70 if they didn't have them anymore and the reply I got was "We should still have enough to continue sending them out through 12/23." It sounds like they have plenty of them left. Wonder what they'll do with the leftovers after 12/23.

I received mine a few days ago. The only accessory he comes with is the metal pipe. I have him up for sale on ebay, as part of my fundraising efforts for my friend. The other Spikes I've seen there are going for around $50, and won't ship worldwide. Most are starting at $50. Mine is still around $20 and I will ship it worldwide. Hopefully, that will help the sale. I'm really surprised that DST hasn't told us how many of these Spikes they have made. That is usually standard procedure with a figure.

The other Spikes I've seen there are going for around $50 Kinda makes you wonder how one seller has already sold 5 of these and still has 3 more available. Obviously these are being made available somewhere else without having to buy $75 in merchandise or a $100 gift certificate.

You forget that retailers can take advantage of this offer as well.

Guys I'm very upset and looking for suggestions.
I've recently ordered my first set of figures directly from DST. The order of events
1) The new Lorne figure isn't available in the UK 2) I ordered a preproduction Wesley from Ebay and got ripped off by the seller (only got some of my money back through paypal). 3) So I contacted a friend who lives in LA who agreed to me paying and sending an order of figures to him so he can then post them to the UK. This means I won't be ripped off 4) I spent $80 on the Welcome to the Hellmouth signed Darla, the preproduction Wes & the new Lorne all at 10pm on the 22nd!
I really feel DST have done a double whammy on me as I've gone out of my way as an internation buyer to continue to collect the figures! I'm going to have to pay US and international postage, I've lost out from the sammer e-bay seller and aaaaaaaaaarg I need some help.

Does anyone know if we ordered the Lorne the night before this offer if we still get the Spike? I asked, but haven't received the reply. If this is the case, that if we bought the Lorne early and it doesn't count, I'm done with DST.

What exactly do you want help with though? It's too bad that you probably won't qualify for the free figure, but what can you do? You can't really complain about not getting something for free. Does anyone know if we ordered the Lorne the night before this offer if we still get the Spike? I asked, but haven't received the reply. If this is the case, that if we bought the Lorne early and it doesn't count, I'm done with DST. I believe someone else stated in this topic that they will review and ship any extras to people who ordered before the start of the offer, once they have shipped to everyone who met the requirements.

Thanks for the info DanMan - This just hasn't helped my lack of passion for collecting. It kind of just let me let go more. I guess I'll just see what happens. I work in retail, and presented the situation to some others who work in retail and got some interesting points of view. I'm probably done ordering from them though.

I had earlier suggested to people who experienced this to cancel their order, then later reorder. But since it's been almost 2 weeks, and at least some of the figures have already shipped, I'm sure it's too late to do that.
I don't blame you for being upset. That is awful! I thought it was very obnoxious of DST to make the Spike available a day later than the Lorne. The least they could have done was to let the people who ordered Lorne the first day it was available to have that go towards their Spike purchase.
Basically, they have penalized the people who are better customers, and rewarded the people who only ordered to get the free thing.
I worked for big department stores when I was younger. The main goal of department stores was generally to not piss off the customers. This just seems like good business, especially for Diamond, who has a very small core market.

The timing certainly wasn't good. I'm sorry for anyone who is upset by this. On the other hand, while it's understandably annoying, how upset can you get for not getting something for free? Maybe it's just because I don't see this as a must-have figure, and therefore not something to stress about. No offense to those upset by this!

Yes it's free, but they don't do it out the kindness of their hearts, they do it to get sales. They want people to spend the $70 in their store, not buy it elsewhere.
It was a bit shoddy to announce lorne before the spike offer. You'd be a bit pissed off if you'd ordered lorne only to find out if you'd waited a day you could have got a free figure. I don't know if dst did this deliberately or not, but....the timing could have been better.

I know you guys from Diamond think that we're a picky, critical bunch. And we are! But we are incredibly appreciative of the fact that you brought this line back to life. I adore all of my figures!
It's just that an announcement like a free figure for $70 worth of figures, coming a day AFTER you announced your most expensive first release figure hurt a bunch of people. If you could just give the people who ordered the Lorne a day earlier the same due as those who ordered after Spike was announced, I think that it would seem fairer.
Thanks again for fantastic figures!

Guys I know there isn't anything that can be done about my rather annoying situation! I'm just having a general moan. Why don't we write a collective letter expressing disappointment in this particular decision? I think this posting board does have sway with the PTB and if I worded a concerned rather than rude letter perhaps we could get some kind of response from DST confirming plans (or the lack there of) to deal with these concerns - after all guys this is their business and they do ultimately rely on customers to keep their business going. NB I love DST, I think they generally do a great job, but this just doesn't seem fair! They gave no warning of this offer and as usual international buyers came second best.

WillowLover, which seller has sold 5 Spikes and still has 3 available? I haven't seen that one. Its seller firerancher. They had two single auctions close, and then one dutch auction with three. They now have an open dutch auction with three. There's also another seller with three available.

You forget that retailers can take advantage of this offer as well. I understand that retailers are allowed to take advantage of the offer as well but that would mean they are spending lots of money at the DST store. I know this is possible but the DST store has average prices to begin with. If you look at the figures at the DST store and compare their prices with eBay prices, you'll see that you really can't buy figures from DST and turn them around for profit (you usually can't even make your cost back on them). I can't see retailers taking losses on figures (or even not selling them) just to get the free Spikes.

I think there might be a different way the retailers get the figures, rather than buying $70 worth of stuff at the DST store, but I'm not sure.
