I just finished looking at two different Star Wars sites' Toy Fair coverage, and I'm completely blown away by Hasbro's offerings for this year. Newly sculpted, uber-articulated figures on vintage cardbacks--greatest idea ever. I don't know about the price on each (rumored at $10 a crack) because I want two sets. And they are a ship-only-once deal. The reuglar line gets a vintage-inspired card design, with a lot of repacks. Wicket and the Scout Trooper will be part of this line, which is cool. I want more o' them Biker Scouts. No new Unleashed items were shown, but Bossk is supposed to appear in an upcoming Insider. All in all, Star Wars is set to become my favorite line to collect again.

I collect SW too, so my wallet is going to hurt this year. Action figures are like crack to me.

I like the new vintage figures, hopefully they ship 2x each a case, so I can keep one MOC and one Loose.
My bank account is going to be in intensive care by jan. 2005.

My bank account is going to be in intensive care by jan. 2005. Oh man, I hear that. I've cut back to collecting Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, occasional McFarlane figures, and Buffy/Angel, and this doesn't help much. I can't imagine how bad it will be by May 2005...

Yeah no kidding... I'm already trying to cut back as it is, then Hasbro pulls these great figures out of their hat They look great... but what is this about "ship-only-once deal?" That sucks. Once again I'm glad I work in the toy dept. at Wal-Mart... I collect Transformers, some MOTU, some LOTR, some GI Joe, and some Star Wars. Occasionally I buy some Hot Wheels cars I like, and other odd figures (McFarlane usually; some Marvel Legends, Spider-Man, etc).

*dusts off thread* *cough* As SW collectors are aware, the Original Trilogy Collection is hitting stores now. I've seen Vader's TIE, Imperial TIE, X-Wing and lightsabers in the vintage packaging style. Still haven't seen the 3-3/4" figures yet. I did see the 12" figures today at K-Mart. They had Boba Fett and Luke Skywalker, but no Stormtrooper. (These cases were supposed to contain 2 of each). These figures are running $29.99 each, which is about $20 too much IMO. I passed on the Luke, but did get a Fett. I really want a Stormtrooper since I don't have a 12" version in my collection. The Fett has a blue flight suit rather than gray-

I received my order from Amazon a few days ago. I ordered some of the vintage styled OTC figures- Han, Leia, and Obi-Wan. Luke wasn't available.
Anyway, they arrived all beat to hell. This would be alright if they didn't put me over a barrel for shipping.
Ugh. I so hate Amazon right now. I was going to open these anyway, but it still doesn't need to be that way.

I been burnt by amazon.com twice with damaged figures. So i will never use them again. The first time. my Hellboy figure was pretty rough. But I desided to keep it. Since it was the one with Corpse and I was afraid I never find another.. The second time I ordered some star wars figures and they looked like they had been ran over by a truck. the box was fine. They just shipped damaged figures to me. I returned them as well. I am through ordering action figures from them.
The vintage figures are awesome by the way!! I picked a few up at walmart. I so want that Boba Fett pictured above in this thread.

To clear any confusion, there's the Vintage Original Trilogy Collection (VOTC) and the Original Trilogy Collection (OTC). The former being the ones with uber-articulation, sealed in a plastic protective case thingy priced at $10. The latter being the usual $5 figures with vintage-style packaging. Having said that... I've only seen two VOTC figures in the stores (at a K-Mart, no less): Han and Obi-Wan. They both look awesome. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting all of those figures, expensive as they may be. The OTC figures I've seen several times... once again it helps a little that I work in the toy dept. at my Walmart. We got in several cases of the newer figures, and as of now i have almost all the ones I want. I just need that R1-G4 guy... never saw him in any store! The OTC figures are pretty cool, the four Dagobah ones are great, their bases can link together in several different ways. The Could Car Pilot is one of the best newer figures ever... loads of detail, removable helmet, walkie talkie thingy, gun with holster, great articulation. It's funny looking at this old topic and what I was collecting earlier this year. It's since changed to mostly Transformers, with some Buffy & Angel, some Star Wars, and some GI Joe.

Just found the Vintage Original Trilogy Collection (VOTC) by me. They are awesome!!! Couldn't find a Luke, but I picked up Leia, Obi Wan, Han Solo. The cards are a great flashback. I like that they are packaged in a clamshell because the cardboard stays mint that way. I'm not usually an on the card collector but I just can't resist these. I did open Han and his articulation is as good as I anticipated. Stinx to spend the $10 but I really think it's worth it.

Finally found the 3-3/4" figures today. I picked up Dagobah Luke, Yoda, and R2, along with re-releases Chewie, Leia, R2, and Ben Kenobi at Wal-Mart. Gotta love their low prices - $4.77 each Suncoast also had OTC and VOTC. I passed on them since their prices are way too high IMO. OTC figures were $6.99 and VOTC figs were $12.99.

I'd love to find the Dagobah figures. I've found OTC on two seperate occasions, and these are always the first figures pinched. Stormtroopers disappear quickly too.

I've noticed that the OTC figures go very quickly. Right now we don't have any more on our pegs at Walmart. We got in like 8 or 9 cases a few weeks ago, and now they're all sold. And I finally did manage to get R1-G4, in fact I found two in the same store! So now I have one to keep as-is, and one to cusomize a bit. (Just some simple redeco.) He reminds me of a cross between a Dalek (Doctor Who), Robbie the Robot, and R2-D2. "Exterminate the Jedi, exterminate the Jedi! We are the superior race, all others are to be ex-term-in-ated!" Still waiting for the VOTC figures to ship to my store... can't wait for those buggers!

Still haven't seen any OTC or VOTC, save one lone Han OTC. The ones I really want are Bespin Leia and Lobot. Hopefully they won't be too hard to find. Most of the rest are kind of rehashy, and I'd rather spend my money on Buffy/Angel.
I do want one or two VOTC, like Leia and maybe one with ROTJ packaging - a Stormtrooper. I like the packaging, and one day soon maybe I can walk in a store and see the pegs full of faux-vintage goodness.

Wow! I finally seen the VOTC today at Sam Goody.. This is the best stuff hasbro has put out ever. I love the plastic clamshell covering with unpunched card.
I picked up
Leia Han Obi -Wan

I just wish Hasbro made them so they could be opened and re-sealed without having to cut up the "vintage" card's bubble. I haven't gotten any yet, but at $10 a piece I won't be getting duplicates...

VOTC figures are finally showing up in greater numbers here, although they don't last long on the pegs. I did finally buy my first figures at Super Wal-Mart Tuesday. I got Kenobi, Han, and Leia for $9.83 each. OTC figures, on the other hand, are very hard to find. By the time I get to the store there are only one or two left. I was at Super K-Mart today and they were just putting out a shipment of new toys. An employee opened a case of 12" VOTC for me and it contained the gray-suited Fett. So the earlier blue-suit Fetts are errors. I bought a 12" Stormtrooper from that case. They also had the new OTC Mos Eisley Cantina screen scene on the shelf for $19.99. This set contains Kitik Keed'kak (new), Wuher (slight resculpt & major repaint), and Dr. Evazan (resculpt & major repaint). These figures were originally part of the second wave of Cantina figures that were exclusive to Wal-Mart before they were cancelled.

I just got back from vacation. I went to Myrtle Beach for a week. While there I found time to make a couple of walmart runs. I scored big time. I picked up 15 OTC figures as well as the VOTC 12 inch Boba Fett. It wasn't the blue suit error. But I didn't want it anyway. I think it's ugly.
