I just got back from vacation. I went to Myrtle Beach for a week. While there I found time to make a couple of walmart runs. I scored big time. I picked up 15 OTC figures as well as the VOTC 12 inch Boba Fett. It wasn't the blue suit error. But I didn't want it anyway. I think it's ugly. Welcome back! I usually scope out potential stores at my destination on the 'net before even leaving on vacation! But yeah, I actually returned the blue Fett I bought. I'm not really that crazy about the gray one either. The Super Wal-Mart here put out a large cardboard cube display with trilogy artwork on two sides and then OTC & Galactic Heroes and the carry cases on the other two sides. I'm glad I saw it Friday because today it was wiped out, 'cept for the cases.

I'm going to scream like a schoolgirl on helium when I find that Vader carry case. The figures never stayed in place, but having a big-ass Vader staring at you from the shelf was too cool.

Thanks for the welcome back. I am still looking for the Galactic Heroes. I was at my local walmart today and they yet to get in the cardboard cube display. Hopefully soon though.

Well, the Wal-Mart here removed the cardboard display from the floor. I was kinda disappointed. I was hoping they'd refill it with more OTC figs. Maybe they're holding stuff back for the DVD release in September, but that's a while off. Look what I scored at KB Toys today. And only $2.99 each! $2.99!

Scored the VOTC Luke, Vader, and Yoda at Wal-Mart tonight. I was a little leery about paying $10 for Yoda, but it kicks ass six ways to Super Bowl Sunday. Vader rocks too.
Also, Lando and 3PO have shown up, but I haven't seen them yet. ;D

I've found Lando and 3PO, plus I picked up those badass DVD Commemorative sets. 3 figures for $10? Sold American. I'm keeping them boxed since the packages are so damn beautiful and I already have the figures in each set.

I've seen wave 2 of the VOTC too, but I had already ordered a case of them. I was reading in the new Star Wars Insider that the VOTC Vader can grasp Captain Antilles' neck.
I was kinda disappointed by Super Tuesday, I thought stores would have tons of product for the DVD release. I only saw lots of VOTC wave 1 and the new LEGO sets. The commemorative figure sets are neat, but I passed since I already had the figures. I may buy the ROTJ one since I need that Emperor and I'd get another Stormtrooper too.
I did find some new basic OTC at TRU, which was especially sweet since they were 2 for $7.

I've only bought Dagobah Luke & Yoda from the OTC so far, but I'm thinking I'll at least have to pick up EST Chewie. I was leary of buying another Yoda (this being the fifth), but since it connects to Luke I dedided I needed it. Same reason I got Hoth Luke that connects to the Wampa.

I finally saw VOTC Vader, Yoda, C-3PO, and Lando. None of them impressed me, really. Yoda looks like a rehash of one of the previous Yodas (forget which one, but the head is an Ep2 Yoda's). 3PO has horrible hip articulation, I mean square cut means he can sit down normal but they could have done much better (and given him more articulation). Plus his face is squished looking... Lando was alright I guess, I might end up getting him. Same thing for Vader. But what I don't get is why the hell Hasbro did not give Lando or Vader the elbow articulation that Han has? The stupid "Rebel Trooper" angled swivels are such a cheap way out of doing it right. I'll end up getting Vader for sure, just because I can't have too many Darth Vader figures (not being sarcastic... not too much anyways). They really should have made these VOTC figures like the GI Joes, but with better hips and no O-ring. Oh well So what figures are for ROTJ? Chewie, R2... ?

The VOTC for ROTJ are Chewbacca, R2, Fett, and Stormtrooper.
Around here wave 1 of the VOTC is clogging the pegs right now. I'm worried that stores won't put out new figures since there isn't any room for them. Plus the ROTJ wave of the VOTC has Fett and Stormtrooper - a fan fav and an army builder. I expect these to go faster than the ESB wave.

These things are also easy to tamper with. The local Walmart and the Chewie and Lando VOTC figures switched with cheaper earlier versions.

Massive haul today, discovered freshly stocked pegs of VOTC at TRU, including the ROTJ wave. I bought 2 R2s, 2 Fetts, 2 Chewies, 2 Stormtroopers, and another Vader and Lando. I dropped about $105 there on just 10 figures I now have one complete set of VOTC and am a 3PO & Yoda shy of a second set. (I buy two of each - one to open, one to keep carded). Also picked up Bespin Leia, my fifth Cloud Car Pilot, and a Gamorrean Guard at Wal-Mart. WM also had the new OTC Monopoly game, about $30.

Are the ROTJ ones any good? Like I said earlier, I wasn't too impressed with the ESB wave. It figures, that's my favorite of the three old movies. Does R2 finally have the six dome panels on the top of his head in the proper place? Hard to describe, but they're the panels where he launched out Luke's saber and where the sensorscope pops out of. Hasbro insists on placing them so that one is directly above his eye instead of the right way. Anal I know, but it drives me crazy Only the craptacular 1995 version has them right, I think.

The VOTC Stormtrooper is excellent! Get this one if you find it. The R2 - I dunno - I haven't opened it yet. I planned on opening all of these, but I'm really liking how these cards look. Retro I know, but I prefer these movie stills to the contemporary photoshopped look.
The best by far for me has been Vader. Wonderful figure, amazing articulation, and I can make him choke Antilles!

If you're talking about the blue panels, there are 5-1/2 on the VOTC R2 dome. One of the panels is actually the top of the sensorscope that pops out. The 1/2 panel is caused by a round knob protuding from R2's head. I like this R2 since the body's panels open to accomodate tools. The ROTJ wave has some highly sought after figures in the Fett and Stormtrooper. I haven't opened them yet, but I've heard rave reviews about the Stormtrooper.

Yeah, that's what I was talking/ranting about I finally saw a decent image of him at theforce.net, and he is done the right way. Though it looks like the third leg isn't retractable? At the expense of having the tools, I'm sure. They should have made the leg removable though... I don't really want to cut up that poor guy after spending $10 on him And I noticed the R2 that came out in the POTJ line (with the rolly wheels) also has the proper dome panels... I got the OTC Tusken Raider and Jawas today, for $3.88 from Walmart. They comped the Target price, or at least they were supposed to. They rang up for $4.88, yet they had the signs for $3.88 in the aisle (I work there so it's no surprise, lol.) I really hope Hasbo keeps the OTC packaging for the rest of the toy line's run. I agree, the photoshop graphics suck compared to the still image backgrounds from the olden days of SW figures. I didn't like the Ep3 package images though

I got Chewie and R2 from the VOTC line in the mail yesterday. I won them on ebay since I'm positive I'll never find them at retail here.
I'm getting a case of the Jedi wave from EE, and it doesn't have doubles of Chewie or R2. I will get two Stormtroopers and Fetts, and Vader and Lando, so that's good.
