Hehe, I've already persuaded several of my friends/family to come with me for the next 2 viewings, lol. I know I'll end up seeing it at least 5 times.
It's just one of those movies where you find something new everytime. Or you understand things better when you see it again. Just like the show really!
I forgot to mention before that the cinema I was in was absolutely jam packed, and everybody was laughing and gasping throughout. I've never had that experience before, and it just added to the excitement and my enjoyment of the film.

I was thinking the same thing! I'll bet that was one of his teenaged fantasies.

I saw this on friday, and it was class. I really enjoyed it, and I hadn't watched much Firefly before, so I didn't know too much about it, but it all seems clear now. I loved some of the humour in it, like one of the lines Kaylee said, and Rivers fight scenes were so awesome! I was shocked by Wash's death too, it was definitely unexpected.
The cinema was empty when I went to see it, there were a couple of other people but not many, but that's probably because it was about 2pm on Friday, when most people are at work or school. My mam went to see it too, and she said that she thought it was a mixture of Star Trek and Lord of the Rings, but I think she was asleep half the time, since I asked her and the only names that she could remember were River and Mr Universe, so she obviously wasn't paying too much attention to the movie.

Well I went to see it again tonight and both the showing before me and the one I was in had about 60 people in each so that's a really good turn out.

Serenity dropped to #9 this weekend. So we probably won't be getting another theatrical film, unless international business is really fantastic. Everyone's been saying the DVD sales will be huge, so maybe Universal will make a direct-to-DVD sequel. Fingers crossed!
BTW, did anyone know the new Wallace & Gromit movie was coming out this weekend? I had absolutely no clue, and I watch a crapload of TV. Yet it took the #1 spot...weird.

That super sucks that it dropped so much! That doesn't bode well for future Buffy/Angel movies. Dammit.

Awesome, awesome, awesome movie. Definitely my favourite movie ever.
Saw it on Tuesday night and I was just blown away! I'm going again this Friday, and I want to go another couple of times after that too.
I'm so glad I saw the series first, it made a lot of the events of the film all the more affecting. I cried twice, and I was on the verge of doing so like five more times.
I'm not gonna go into detail about what I loved because A) I don't wanna chance anyone seeing a spoiler, and B) I loved it all, so there's just no way I can go into detail without just re-writing the entire film's synopsis in minute detail, but I will say:
OMG NEW SEAN MAHER SHIRTLESS SCENE!!!!!111oneone
And I swear, I see one more slashy scene with Simon and Mal, and I'm gonna have to declare them an offical canon couple.

Im seeing this again on saturday after work. I seriously cannot wait. For some wierd reason im really looking forward to the beginning clip when the camera pans around serenity in spcae and the cool music plays. It happens right after the serenity logo appears on screen. Oh, and I cant wait to see the final battle again. Not really looking forward to Wash's death scene though...I may cry again... ...on an up note, looking forward to more topless Sean.M.

Yeah I plan to catch it again with my boyfriend this weekend. I am hoping to have his Jayne hat knit by then so we can go as a matched set of whedon dorks!
Its funny how its dropped to #9 yet everyone i know has either seen it or is planning to see it anyday now. I bet it has that sort of longevity thing and keeps on coming.

I just came back from it and dear god, that was absoloutley amazing! It was seriously the best two hours I've spent in the cinema in my life! Everything about it was fantastic. Especially the acting and the effects. Zoe is definatley my favourite character and I really loved the insight we got into River's mind. It was really upsetting though when it came to Wash's death. Whoa, I still can't get over the magnificence of this movie. Definatley in one of my Top 5 of all time. Everybody who hasn't seen it yet... GO!!! It's amazing!

I saw it again today! Man ALIVE, I love that movie so much, it's insane. Me and my best friend let out a huge whoop when Sean Maher's name came up on screen, and then another whenever Simon did something we deemed hot, like strutting in his Alliance uniform, or flexing his back muscles Sad news though, there was some problem with the speakers for a while during the movie, so when I went to ask for a complimentary ticket after (which I got, to go see Serenity again, natch) the Duty Manager said "Oh yeah, we moved it to screen #9 'cause it's hasn't done very well, so I think it'll be gone in a week or so" I hope that's only the case in my town, cause that totally sucks, I almost landed a punch on the guy when he SHRUGGED!

I am a huge star wars fan, but I think I liked Serenity even better. That not seem like much, but believe me, it really is. Serenity gets 10 out of 10 from me, easily. The film has everything! Joss is SO indescribably fantastic. Anyone who hasn't seen this yet, go see it! You're missing out, and I want sequels! : )
A trademark of a Joss show/movie is that my favourite character changes by the minute! (even after I've finished watching)

I agree alyrenee, I think it will have longetivity. Most non-Buffy fans probably didn't know who Joss was, and most people probably hadn't seen Firefly, heard it was a cancelled show, and asked themselves why they should go see the movie. But with plenty of fantastic reviews, and lots of talk, I think it will encourage lots more to go see it.
I think this is maybe the saddest film I have ever seen. Very effective.

I went to see Serenity on opening day to show support and even took my mother with me who had absolutely no interest in it whatsoever. After the film ended, my mother turned to me and said, "Hey, that was a GOOD movie!" I must say, I agree with her completely. Serenity is one of the best Sci-fi movies that I have ever seen! I left the theatre feeling totally satisfied, compared to when I left the theatre after seeing Star Wars 3 and feeling totally let down and dissappointed! How can a sucky movie like Revenge of the Sith make a gazillion dollars while Serenity will probably never see the light of day again? I think Joss should just forget about the box office and make his movies straight to DVD!

I went to see Serenity last Wednesday at 15.15 because i hate going to packed cinemas. I want to hear every word of dialogue, every squeak of a door hinge, every rattle of falling metal after an explosion. I sat there for 2 hours, my eyes never left the screen. I SMEGGIN LOVED IT. A marvelous way to continue the series for those that have been following it & a great film to watch if you haven't. Funny, exciting & sad. A complete movie experience. Please ODIN let there be a sequel.
Summer Glau Rules, she'd kick Buffy's ass too.

My poor girlfriend was traumatized. We went through the whole series together the over the past few weeks and fell in love with it. The movie was way too intense for her... she hates the Reavers, the tension, and all of the violence. As for me, it was a pretty rough ride. It was tough to even laugh at the funny parts, especially after Wash's death... it just overshadowed almost everything from then on for me. I had read accidently that a main character dies online before seeing it... so after Book, I thought it was safe! It made Wash's death that much more shocking and horrific. It'll be interesting how I feel about the whole thing seeing it the second time. My dad summed it up pretty well I thought, saying: the advantage of a series is that you could look forward to something different in the next few episodes, maybe something fun and light-hearted. OK, I hated the show. I said earlier that I was unsure that I would see the movie, because people said it was dark. But I LOVED IT!!!! It was hilarious and had fabulous action. I thought it was one of the best-written movies I've seen. I don't like the countrified speech, but didn't think it was too heavy-handed. ***SPOILER ALERT!!! *** I didn't think it was THAT dark, but then I wasn't attached to any characters from watching the show. I had only seen it once. Important secondary characters usually get killed in movies. I also thought everyone was gonna die at the end. It wouldn't have surprised me, knowing Josh. They didn't, so I was happy. I liked the little sub plot of love between Simon and Kaylee. I'm so happy it got two thumbs up!!!! Yay! I'm sorry it didn't do that much business. That's a shame. I posted a raving review of it on yahoo.com. Hey that's JosS! JOSS! Just correcting you on behalf of him. So now that you like the movie are you going to stop posting about how you hate the series based on seeing one episode? No offense intended at all, but I must have read that about a half dozen times in various threads... Just a question was there anything after the end credits, cos after the film quite a few people were still sitting there as if something was coming up after the credits?! Actually there is a nice guitar rendition of the TV show's theme song over the final credits. I thought that was a nice treat. I ALWAYS stay till the end.

How much did it actually cost to make? I've read $40million but that doesn't sound right cos that would mean its nearly made back 1/2 its cost already which i kinda now is a faliure to big movie bosses but for a film made from a tv show that wasn't that well known and was cancelled halfway through its first season its not really that bad in the grand scheme of things. And i know i was hoping for a sequel after i saw it but if it doesn't get one (which it probably won't now) at least if you saw it and enjoyed it then you saw it and enjoyed and supported the film! Lots of films take a lot less money than Serenity has done and some even had bigger budgets. I'm sorry for the rant but all the faliure stuff was getting me a little depressed i apologise if i ranted too much and if it came across as if i was living in a bit of a dream world

News on the Overall grossing of Serenity so far!!
Domestic Total as of Oct. 16, 2005 : $22,306,230
Overseas Total as of Oct. 16, 2005 : $6,159,674
Bringing it to a grand total of $28.465,904! And if you want to include the $3 million that a US TV Channel paid for the rights to screen Serenity in 2008, then its $31.465,904!
Personally, I don't think it's doing that bad. It's coming very close to breaking even and then there's going to be the DVD sales. Don't loose hope yet!
