Thanks for the feedback everyone Sasha, Yeh i thought so too! I moulded this head and was able to then reshape the clay into a new expression (for Gatekeeper Willow) and i noticed then that her nose was more aquiline. I fixed it now but this mould is already done, so i will try to make it work

This is great work! 12" customs arent easy. I would suggest looking at hair a little more closely.
When i make any sculpture, the hair is always my favourite to get to. Once you can break hair down into the key components, it is easy.
You have the basic shape down well, grab one of your paintbrushes or anything rounded. When i made 6" figures, i actually used a pencil! Sounds silly but it works, it makes the sculpey dirty but you will be painting it anyway.
Grab a couple of pencils (coloured might actually be better) use a nice blunted one for the deeper creases and use a sharper one for the fine details.
Add some deeper locks and then detail with finer detail. Remember less is more. You want detail but you dont want thick lines. Easy mistake to make.
I think Sasha had a great tutorial on her site that really helped back in the day.
Keep it up Wayne

Hey Everyone. I still lurk here but unfortunately I don't really seem to have time to customise anymore. However, I've decided that now it is time to go ahead and try to make my own figures, not customs. So i decided to start with giving Willow the PF treatment. I didn't ever think I could do it but so far, I'm so happy! I can see her likeness already and its not even painted. I sculpted this head for a PF Dark Willow (which IS happening) but I wanted to test likeness before committing. I made a bust from Whats my Line. I plan to make a Willow bust for every season! I plan to produce them in very small quantities, rather than OOAK. What you see her is a cast of my sculpt being used on the bust. Id love to know what you all think, plenty more to come. I hope to paint this very soon Thanks Wayne PS. So psyched to be working on Buffy stuff again!

Hey Everyone! I havent been on here properly for quite some time. Life has kinda taken over and unfortunately Customs have taken a back seat. However recently ive had the urge, so I made a new PF custom to see if I still had the knack. Im very happy with how this turned out and its waiting to be shipped to the buyer. The base plays Wild Horses when pressed and she has a real fabric dress Hope you all like. It was such a pleasure to get back to doing Thanks Wayne

If you are making a silicone mould, you can use all different kind of resin. I use Polyurethane (Fast Cast) resin. it usually sets within 5 minutes and is relatively cheap and very strong Hope that helps

This actuallY has nothing to do with cheap paint. Ive used the same paint for years and this only seems to happen on certain figures. It happens a lot with the 6" figures because the plastic that is used for the parts seems to leech some sort of oil over time (which is why the figures can smell strongly when you remove them from the packaging)
It can also be a side effect of sculpey that isn't cured properly. Oils can leech out of it.
Personally, i have repaired on of my own statues by using nail varnish remover to remove the sticky coating. However, this did remove some of the paint...
You could wash it down with soapy water on a brush and try to get it all off. and then perhaps reseal using a stronger sealer. Other than that, all i could suggest is putting them inside some sort of sealed clear display box? Though i know that glass cabinets can still get dusty.
I guess its just maintenance :/

Postage is always a bitch with these things. Well, those photos were my first attempt at using it. You can find some guides on youtube. Type in ArtResin and you will see various vids using it over photos and artwork hope that helps

You can buy yourself some clear resin, it doesnt have to be scenic water. You could try clear epoxy resin. It takes around 24 hours to dry but will dry to a glass like finish. You can get it from ebay. I got mine from EliChems www.elichem.co.uk/p-15-general-purpose-clear-epoxy-resin.aspxIt has a tendancy to bubble but you can run a heat gun or blow torch over the surface to break the bubbles. You will need to cover the project after to save it from hair and dust as this will affect the surface quality. But this is a great method and epoxy resin is relatively cheap. At that size and thickeness, it should auto level too. Heres a photo of the surface i achieved with Epoxy resin
