Ok, So I awoke this morning, logged onto Sideshowcollectors.com and my eyes were digusted with this. The pose is great but the head, i was nearly sick.......im talking exorcist sick. WHY does this keep happening to poor David, cant a company release a figure that does him justice, even in this scale? Man, this has really annoyed me, I was hoping to preorder it when it goes on sale, but at this point......no no no! I refuse to spend £150 on this, even if it is David Boreanaz......well, from this pic, it isnt! this is what i posted on SideshowCollectors.com Gotta say, from this one pic, not very impressed. I love the pose from his arms but to me, he seems to be suffering the same problem as all the other Angel figures. He looks to OLD, his face, actually his whole head seems to be compressed, squished. It should be longer and thinner. The forehead is all wrong. The eyes are not good, David Boreanaz has nice big brown eyes, not sqinty, crossed eyes. Also, the hair, why, oh, why! It seems like all figures with large spiky hair tend to look like they have an afro. Look at Becoming Angel and Oz. His hair needs to be triangular and spiky, not flat and lumpy. At the moment, i will NOT be getting this, which is a shame because ive been excited since i heard about it.
Also, whats with the clothes.....Wheres the leather jacket?
From this picture, This looks like Angel 30 years after he Shansued
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Sideshow, Fix This! What do you all think? Wayne

OUCH!
He looks rough .. I think they put more wrinkles on him, then they did on Giles.

Needless to say, i'm not impressed either- he looks so old. I hope they improve him. A lot.

Thought I'd bring my replyy to this over from my post on the Sideshow forum.. Oh dear, he's a bit of a mess isn't he! I believe Sideshow are once again guilty of basing a figure on publicity shots rather then what he actually wore in the series. Here's the shot they've obviously based the whole thing on, but tried to change the expression. Thing is they've stuck a AtS series five head, on a Buffy season 1 outfit and body. The face is far too old looking, and not a very good likeness for that matter. Considering what he's wearing he should have had a far more youthful look, rather then the 'grumpy grandpa' on he's sporting now. I mean they must know he didn't even wear this horrible outfit in the show, so why shove him into something the fans won't even recognize? Everyone try and give them some feedback. This really isn't god enough. I mean did they even look at much reference of him, or just grab the first publicity still that came to hand?

It's kind of petty, but I really dislike figures wearing clothes based on promo shots. I kind of let it go with buffy as she looked really good (but i would have preferred an outfit she actually wore on the show). Spike's outfit, while worn in promo photos, was also worn on the show, so he is fine.
Angel's outfit is icko too. And why are his hands behind his back? Hardly a pose of an action hero ready to smack people around.
edit: even if we all complain, i seriously doubt sideshow will change his face. and his clothes. and his pose.

Sue, if they dont change it, maybe we can get your friend to sculpt an Angel head like the Spike one you have? I just hope they listen to us. We need an Angel figure that looks like David Boreanaz and not his father! Wayne

I think he looks pretty good...very decent likeness.
But I doubt they change the head sculpture - if they did bother to change Buffy's horrifically thick eyebrows (what can be done with simple repaint) I doubt they would go all the way to fix the head sculpture.

We need an Angel figure that looks like David Boreanaz and not his father! Wayne Sadly my mate is a very busy professional and so charges a lot for his services (around £200 a day) so you as can see I'd have to be sure of getting a lot of people to want one of those to get it done! The Spike he did for as a one off favor, and as he's always so flaming busy at Tussuad's all the time, I can't see him doing any other 'freebies' in the future, sadly. Sideshow should sit up and take note and do it themselves. This really isn't good enough.

I concur, ouch. Angel looks old and strange. I really, really wanted a decent PF Angel. I love Angel and usually have all and anything with DB on, I don't think I'd get this as it is though. How can they get Spike so right?
Wayne, where did you get the smaller pic from? I know the big one is from SS.

Well I think the reason why they always get Spike right, is that the original Sideshow doll sculpt was a worked over scan, and that every subsequent likenesses have come form the same set of info.
If you look at the PF version it just looks like the 12" Spike doll scaled up. The same I think has been done with the Angel PF, but taken from his later AtS scans/shots and used for the original 12" Sideshow release.
They have tried to utilize the same info and just blow it up and alter it a tad, and of course it just doesn't fit in with the body/clothes that they've chosen for him.
This figure needs a much, much more youthful appearance or it will just look plain weird.

I think that he has too many lines on his forehead for one and he also is having a bad hair day. You would think that he would look better in a bigger scale as it worked for Spike. I'm wondering if he will come with an extra Vampire Head as well, I just hope that it looks really good if they do.

I actually really like this. Especially his coat.
I also like the fact that is from a promo shot and not another tackie leather jacketed Angel
I think i'll buy this one. And I don't have the other two!

He looks so tired and aged like a raisin I hope they include a cane and grandpa reading glasses so he can look the role of Papa Smurf Angel....The Golden Years... I hope the back of the box says the ancient vampire Angel looking ancient indeed comes with a pull string were he can reminisce the days when he was a young, cool champion ;D

It's hard to tell from that photo, but it even looks like his neck is sagging.
Actually, it looks like it's just a bad recent scan, where they caught him squinting and furrowing his brow, and the sculptor (who is the sculptor, anyway?) made the big mistake of emphasising that instead of picking a better scan. I know DB's not as young as he was ten years ago, but that looks more like him in another ten or twenty years.
