Taken from the new 'Ask Sideshow' thread here... www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=2746Quote: Question: Are there plans for more 12-inch figures of from the Buffy and Angel lines? SSC: The Buffy and Angel lines are currently on hold. While there is a huge universe of characters to draw from, we do feel satisfied that all of the core characters (at least from the original Buffy cast) have been represented at this point. We'll be focusing on other properties for a while, but do hope to return to the Whedonverse in 12-inch at some point in the future." Somehow I can't but help read 'on hold' as 'canceled until further notice myself'. Sad news, and on the month celebrating the tenth anniversary of Buffy too.

That sucks. Crappy sideshow.
There were still so many characters to make- wesley, anya, dawn, tara, riley, gunn, doyle, fred, more buffys etc.
Lorne and cordy have both sold out, wonder why they decided to end the line, sorry, put the line on hold, now?
I hope the pf line is still going to continue. The spike (sideshow edition) is sold out, so that is a good sign. It'd be crappy if the pf line ended before we got angel.
So that's 2 lines that have gone down the shitter.

Oh well that's really disappointing. Actually part of me is selfishly relieved because it's less money coming out of my pocket but the buffy fan in me is upset that they won't do anymore.

I can't believe that. From Buffy, we still need at least Cordelia, Anya, Riley, Tara, Dawn (+ human Drusilla, season 5-7 Willow, Glory, season 5-7 Buffy, and some other baddies). From Angel, we need at least Wesley, Fred, human Darla, Gunn, Doyle (+ new Faith, Lilah, Lindsey, Skip and some other baddies)

I'm surprised I have to say. I only pick and choose which SS figures to buy because of the cost but always buy the Buffy/Spike/Angel incarnations I also have Der Kindestod and The Master. Since Cordy and Lorne have sold out you would think they'd carry on. I was expecting a Gift and Chosen Buffy! Shame.

Wow that is surprising! However, they did such a crappy job on the likenesses of regular willow, faith, subway spike- that it probably has hurt their overall sales of the line.

I really hope the new Buffy comic stirs up interest in the Buffyverse again. This is getting depressing.

I really hope the new Buffy comic stirs up interest in the Buffyverse again. This is getting depressing. Even though I figured this might happen I was hoping that Sideshow (and even DST) would wait until after the comics came out before they did this.

What bugs me is what happens when all the fuss over the Star Wars range dies down, and the market becomes too saturated for even your most hard cores SW fan?
If Sideshow had kept the Buffyverse range on a back burner by releasing a couple of figures a year, then they'd have something to fall back on when their most popular lines 'fall off'.
But most collectors aren't going to wait around to see whether or not they're ever going to get anymore from this line, and so the interest will die away whether Sideshow wants it or not.

Totally sucks... Sideshow's are the best, some of them 'course... They are more realistic... Oh, I'm so sad... I was hoping for a season 5-hairstyle (wavy/curly) Buffy... But I guess I can give it up... Or pray and wait a lot...

I figured that they would want to continue with the lines, they had just released 3 characters from ANGEL and then to put the rest of the line on hold is a waste. I was also excited with Giles finally seeing a figure and then they stop, it really does suck. I wanted Anya, Tara, Cordelia, a new Willow, a new Faith and a Dawn figure so bad this year for the BUFFY line and to have Wes, Gunn, Fred, Illyria and Darla from the ANGEL line. Hopefully they won't take that long of a break.

That sucks.
The unannounced figures were pretty cool. Atleast 1 was a brand new character not made before in SS form, and 2 others were already done numerous times but would have been cool. Looks like the focus is on the overpriced premium statues I could careless about when I first heard of them many moons ago.

I am SO bummed about this announcement. But is everyone SURE that "put on hold" means DONE altogether? Wouldn't they say that if that were the case? Perhaps they are taking a wait and see position, what with the season 8 comic coming out, to see if interest is renewed. Someone mentioned that the Buffy line just isn't selling. Guess that's true compared to the 7500 peices that used to sell out of quickly. But I sure have had a hard time getting some of the figs I missed, so I know there are the hardcore collectors that would always buy. Maybe just not enough of them.
To be honest, I would rather them finish or continue (even if there were long periods in between) the Buffy characters than to fool around with a few from Angel. A lot of people here seem to be drooling for an Illyria for example, but for my money, I would MUCH rather have all my Buffy characters before any more Angel came out. Angel will always be secondary in my mind. As far as I'm concerned, the line won't be finished until they have an Anya (her character goes all the way back to season 3), a Joyce (YES, A JOYCE-she was SUPER COOL and an integral part of the show too, when you think about it), a Glory, a Mayor (my 2 FAVORITE big bads), a Buffy version of Cordy, a Tara, and a (although my last choice) Dawn. And if I REALLY had my druthers, they would re-issue a better Faith and Willow, cause, well, you know....
Have I forgotten anyone? Human Dru maybe? Or since they did Der Kindestod, a one time big bad (probably mainly cause he looks scary) they could do another minor character like Willy the bartender for example. He was there from the beginning to season six, wasn't he?
If the Sideshow 12" line is going to come to an end I want at very least to finish the BUFFY main characters!!!

I would rather more Buffy characters than Angel ones too. But a Willy the Bartender = BIGGEST "PEGWARMER" EVER!!!

Well for those of you like me who are really upset/angry about this decision then I urge you to either email Sideshow directly and tell them (please try and sound constructive and polite in your arguments) or leave a comment here.www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?p=2748#commentsOn this thread they do seem to 'censor' anyone who comes across 'too forcefully' if you get my drift, so bare that in mind when leaving a post.

I would rather more Buffy characters than Angel ones too. But a Willy the Bartender = BIGGEST "PEGWARMER" EVER!!! Yes, I know what you mean. But my point was if they decided to make a character that was as much of a "one off" as der Kindestod, then hell, there are others we've at least seen more often that may warrant a consideration. But you are right. Willy was an out there suggestion (but I was trying to be sarcastic...lol)
