Congratulations to everybody who won! Although, It's a bummer that I lost. LOL. Here was my poem, just for the record: store.yahoo.com/timespacetoys/entry33.htmlI'm glad that there'll be another contest in the future. Although, I think the whole voting concept should be done differently. I think just members should be the only ones to vote... because with the whole e-mail thing... It could be unfair. NOT SAYING that anybody did that though. But yeah... Just my two cents.

Congatulations to all the winners. And for the people that didn't win you all are still winners just for entering the contest.

Good show, man. I dug that one.
EDIT:
Posted this not realizing all the runners-up had been posted, too. And I'm one of them.
Huzzah!

NOT SAYING that anybody did that though. But yeah... Just my two cents. I am shocked at the poems that won...... Anyway, I really thought that poem 17 and mine were the best. I am surprised about the poem that won the main prize. I still cant believe that 18 even got in and mine and poem 17 did not make it. I guess I should not put too much effort in my work. I rather have the old way of contests with picking names out of a hat or whatever CMK uses. Something definitely did not go right here, I feel there were many better poems than these. These would have been the poems I would have voted for but I was out of a computer and I could not vote. Here were my choices 6 - 17 -33 - 36 -43. Poem 6 is really good and atleast I am glad that won.

"I'm hoping to have another "poetry-based" contest in the future, so if you have any suggestions for how you think it should be run, post them here, and they will be taken into consideration."
There's a newspaper out of Sacramento which does a contest every year called Fiction 59. The rules are simple: you write a story. It is 59 words long, no more and no less.
It's very difficult and very fun, and I think it would be really cool to try to adapt it to Buffy characters.
Secondly, I agree that only forum members should vote. Hell, I'm one of the winners, it's not a sour grapes thing, but I too wondered whether people would just have all their friends vote for them or whatever.
Cheers,
-Monte

And I've never been anything but nice to people on this forum, but I'm not exactly feeling the good karma here right now. In my eyes, everyone was good, and I think we're all winners. Just because -your- poem didn't make it into the top 8 is no reason to go blaming this and that, and especially not to say things like "I don't see why number 18 would make it and mine didn't." Just because in your opinion -yours- was better, apparently that's not the opinion everyone shared. And sorry everyone else for being not so nice, but that rubbed me the wrong way.

here is my poem. it was #1
the title is Sweet William
Nastiest of the bad blondest of the brave.
Killer of two slayers lover of one
Sensitive semi-poet of the past chosen to go out with a blast.
A journey over in the sun adventure begins again in the darkest city of.
Once returned a crazy basement dweller now a spirit forced to help the helpless helpers.
Corporeal abilities restored and all he finds his way to a mountain dew brawl.
With the hope of new humanity in the form of Shan Shu this misunderstood hero tries to see the good fight through.
With the loss of some friends he hold his own until the cliffhanger end.
Injured but still going strong his ending will be revealed before to long?

I have been nice to everyone on here also and I am also entitled to -my opinion- and that was my opinion. I did not care for that poem and -I am sorry- that my remark rubbed you the wrong way. I just needed to vent and I hope you can accept my apology , buddy Also, there have been other people that mentioned the voting. I am not the only one.

First, I would just like to say I am sorry if my comments offended anyone else. It was just my opinion and this forum is here to share whats on your mind. I really had no intentions of hurting anyone personally. I have already apologized to Puppet Spike.
I am not on this forum to make anyone angry and to start fights. I just posted my opinion. I could simply edit my post/opinion and make believe I never wrote that but I am not going to edit it because that would be wrong to do. Again, I am sorry if my comments offend, hurt, or bother anyone else. I am very sorry and I hope you can please accept my apology.

Congrats everyone, I had a great time reading the poems. I guess we all have different tastes, because the only one in my list that won was # 18 - the cheerleading, Dracula dissing one. Heheh. I actually had a hard time narrowing down my choices, so they could have easily gone another way, and I could very well have chosen the other winners. There were a few I wasn't into, but overall I just like seeing people's creative perspective on Spike. I want to know who did this one - # 39. The idea of a poem from the perspective of Harmony was cracking me up. Heheh.

How many votes are we talking here? Florida level?
Ok, 'fess up DL. How many squirrels did you bribe to stuff the ballot box with nuts labeled with your number?
I *would* have voted more than once, but being organizationally challenged, I couldn't figure out how.
Which poem was yours, A.L.? I wish everyone would identify theirs. They were all great. It took me ages to vote, and not just because of that organizational problem of mine.

Not only that, but people could've made multiple e-mail accounts to send in the votes.
I think the whole voting procedure should've been dealt in a different way, but that's just IMO.
