I got this email yesterday from DST. “We are still looking into this matter. We will let you know when this situation changes.” That is the nicest way I have ever been told to shut up and wait.

To everyone who has had this problem ordering the Willow's Spelbook from DST, all I can recommend is to sit tight for now. DST is investigating this problem right now, and as soon as I hear more I will let everyone know. I, too, have an order for a Spellbook that's been pending for over two weeks, so I understand people's comments about this. We should hear more very soon.

Lousy stinking DST...I had an email in my inbox this morning, with this attachment:

1. Free World Tour Willow and DST T-Shirt.
2. Opportunity to buy a Spellbook later if/when they are located.
3. Spellbooks still being sold for reasonable prices on eBay.
I think DST has done all they can given their situation. The orders could have been cancelled with a "sorry, too bad" email sent out.

Interesting.
Before everyone piles on DST for screwing up, let me give my thoughts....
A - Im still a bit peeved that I didn't get an email from them that said "Hi Radical member, we'll have Spellbooks in the store on xx/xx/xx" - but they have said that they may address that in the future. (ergo, Im not affected by this)
B - While this really really looks bad for them, they seem to be going to a decent amount of trouble to do _something_ for those that ordered, only to have them cancel.. they could very well have told all of you to go pound salt, "sorry, the webserver screwed up" and "won't happen again". Instead, they are offering up a free figure (albit not quite as rare as it once was) and a T-shirt.. If you are going to complain, I'd be curious what type of restitiution you think you deserve.. obviously Spellbooks are a limited quantity, so getting you one is out of the question (unless they find more somewhere, as making another run of them is economically just not going to happen for a handfull of them)..
Seems like they are trying... As far as Im concerned, Strike 1 was the no notification to Radical members for items going in the store.. but this seems like 1/2 a strike.. y'know?

Maybe DST has done all they can given their situation. Regardless, I am entitled to be upset about the situation. I especially like how they don't know if the rest of the stock will ever arrive.

If they could have figured this out last week I could still have gotten a spellbook. Now I'm out of luck! The only thing left is ebay where I will pay twice as much as what it would have cost from diamond. This REALLY makes me mad. Everyone else that ordered what time did you order. I ordered mine at 10:52 AM on June 2nd, and I bet people who ordered much later recieved theirs. (It tells you what time when you click on your order in your account page on the dst website.) GRRRR! Plus, okay nice of them to try and make up for it, but I already have a world tour willow what I want is a SPELLBOOK!!! I just KNEW this would happen when we found out they were "looking into it". So now what are they going to charge credit cards if the hundreds of "missplaced" spellbooks arrive? If they would have looked at how many orders they were getting in the first place they could have stoppped this problem. And it's nice they are trying to stop it from happening in the future, but what about NOW?! They are the makers of the product, can't they get ahold of more?

The email notification is definitely a great idea which I will bring up with DST. This whole situation is definitely a problem, but I honestly think DST has done all they can to address it. Keep in mind that it must be pretty difficult for a warehouse to lose 200 Spellbooks, so it is still possible that these will turn up at a later date.
In the event that these missing Spellbooks are found, people will be contacted individually in the order they placed their order originally to see if they would still like to order one.
Spellbooks have stabilized on eBay and should be available in Musicland stores soon. It is by no means impossible to get one now, but it is going to be more difficult than ordering one direct from DST.

So now what are they going to charge credit cards if the hundreds of "missplaced" spellbooks arrive? They are the makers of the product, can't they get ahold of more? The first point, I totally agree with you, they were much too late letting people know that there was a problem, although, they may have been trying to find more product to fulfil the orders. I would think that there are no more Spellbooks for them to sell.. heck even Time and Space is "out of stock" and they ordered them... DST being the manufacture doesn't mean they can get more.. where exactly would they be coming from? I find it hard to beleive that there were "hundreds of orders" through DST Store, and it's not like they could just whip up 50 more from the factory.... one would guess the costs of doing something like that would be prohibitive.. AND they would have to have the figures made, the packaging made, etc, etc.. it'd be months till you got them anyhow. Again, Im just trying to put things in perspective from someone unaffected... should you feel mad - heck yeah, but look at what they are trying to do...

I’m not mad just disappointed. The bright side is I finally get a world tour Willow and I learned to PRE Order figures so I’m not in this situation again. I will order from DST again. As always thanks for your help with this matter JusticeDemon.

I don't know if there were hundreds of orders but they lost hundreds of spellbooks. If they had that many spellbooks then they probably had that many orders, otherwise it would still have been available on their site to buy long after they took it off. Plus they are sending world tour willows to everyone so they had a lot more of those packed away, you would think maybe they had several boxes of spellbooks hidden away somewhere too. I get that there doing all they can, but sometimes that isn't enough. What made me mad is they sent no real answers in the e-mails. They should have informed those who bought that there is a possibility that you might not get your order. They had to have known they lost them. The people at the warehouse had to have been in contact with them to tell them there were no spellbook there to fill orders. Plus, why did some get them and others didn't they must have had a few with them or something.

I'm curious to see who hadn't received their orders. I wonder if they is any consistancy to the shipments, or if they were random.
I placed my order on 6/2/04 at 8:32 pm.

See thats what I was wondering too. As I said before I placed mine at 10:52 AM on 6/2/04. It could be where it was to be shipped too. I live on the west coast so, wait no this was going to be sent to my mom's (indiana) so that would be more like the east.
