I agree as well. Chad and Tim, you are two great guys and I really respect both of you, but you are not here on this board as much as you should be. The board has become stale and stagnant. Cowboy Guy just tried to put a little more life into the board. I thought it was great, and I was really excited about the board again.

IMO, everyone is full of good intentions, but are crashing in the middle. CBG thought it would be a nice change to create a new layout for the fourm. Flobb and Chad are pissed because all the hard work they put into the old layout was simply...wiped away. I also get what Arron is saying also, you guys are never really around anymore, so...I'm saying i'm not taking sides because i see both points. IMO, all the forum needs is a fresh new homepage banner...what about those ideas on an older thread in this section ;D?

We will get accused of "ganging up on them" now I guess. Which guys, let me say, we really aren't. I for one, enjoy when you both post, which from the 2 years I've been reading and re-signing up , has got less and less and less. We're just annoyed because actual things that matter aren't being sorted out at all and things that you have clearly seen that YOUR members like, are being taken away. It's not logical and it's not fair. I already know of a few people who are considering deleting their account. If you're not careful you two will be badly running a forum... but with no members. I really hope you do return though guys. And can I stress WE ARE NOT GANGING UP ON YOU!

I just want to first apologize to everyone for being absent for so long. I've just been focusing on school, my fraternity, and cheerleading, and I lost track of BtVSFigs. I know a lot of you aren't going to see that as a great excuse, but that's all I have, and I hope I can be forgiven.
Regarding the new layout...I liked it a lot. Cowboyguy did an excellent job. However, it makes a difference whether he speak to either Tim or I when taking on such a huge task. Yes, we've wanted a newer layout for a while, and it got off track, but that's no reason to just change it one day and erase everything Tim and I worked for just so it could finally get done. Good things come to those that wait; even though waiting sucks, especially since Tim and I have been MIA lately, it's still necessary for the forum to get what it needs.
I've been making some plans to get more people involved in some of the bigger forum events, such as the custom awards, Survivor, etc. I want to sort of have an application process for those members who are qualified and would be up for the challenges involved in those events. Look out for that to happen soon.
I want everyone to know that Tim and I don't view this as a "gang up on Tim and Chad" thing. We respect all of your opinions, and want to prove to you that even though we've been gone, we still care about the forum and want what's best for it.

Well put Chad Of course you're forgiven - your life is your life. I'm sure you can see why we were all angry though. I'm sure the one thing that we all want to know now is whether or not you two will be around, like before, running the forum smoothly - or will you disappear again?

Oh seems you've already left. And flobbster. Well look at that.
Wonder why not ONE of you could have posted a quick explanation of what will happen with the custom awards in that topic. But I guess that's too much to ask when a main moderator and admin are both online who are running a 2.5 month late contest.

But I guess that's too much to ask when a main moderator and admin are both online who are running a 2.5 month late contest. HEY!!! I think it was great of Chad to come on and say what he did. He informed us that Survivor is going to start up again, and his post implyed that the Custom Awards are not dead. On top of that they are going to hand over some of the bigger tasks to other board members! I was respecting what you had to say up until this last post which really looked like you were trying to start up a mutany again. Like you said, they have a life to live and if they had to pop on and say something and then run off and do something else it doesn't mean that they are abandoning us.

Well I'm sorry but I don't think that coming on for a few minutes to take off something another member did is good enough Jinxieman. I stand by what I said because they should have told us about the awards. Its 2 and half months late! Would have taken just 30 seconds to type up a quick response but no. They came on for a few minutes and left. Not good enough! These people are supposed to RUN the forum.

You people are hilarious. Seriously. Chill out. Take a deep breath and chillllll.
God, get off the forum for like an HOUR, go outside, and just think. Or something. Because the more you stay on here, the more you're just going to get worked up and bitch
CowboyGuy's layout was great. The thing is, he didn't run it through the admins before putting it up. Sorry, but that's not right. Case closed. You can't overstep authority like that, it's not right. I realize he was trying to pump some life into the forum with a spiffy new look, but that's not the way to go about it.
Chad and Tim both have lives. There is a whole other world outside your computer room. University, for one, is something HUGE, and should come first. If the forum has to be on the back burner while Chad is doing uni stuff, you need to accept it and move on. Sure, they could have left a little notice that they would be busy for a few months, maybe leave a list of things the mods could do to keep the forum bustling.
If you are so sick of the forum, leave. Simple as that. You may have grown very close to some people on this forum, but if you just can't stand to be here any longer, then why are you? Bitching will get you no where here.
No where. Why hasn't ANYONE learned that? Does no one learn from past example? Chilling and waiting is your best bet. Continue to post topics, if you must. That's a GREAT way to keep a forum active. If you're only here for the special prizes, and contests, well, maybe you should branch out and maybe get to know some people? Try being social. HELL, if the forum is dead, don't sit here and write about, get up and go to a pub or club.
Fresh air does a mind good. Trust me.
*hums and waits for the backlash* Ahhh. Trouble.

I understand your issues, but I believe them to be unwarranted. Just because I don't post here as often does not mean I don't come here. I'm not going to speak for Chad, he can speak for himself. He reads the posts here too. I'm on just about every other hour to check on the place and on occasion you'll see a reply when you guys felt there was a response lacking from one of us. We chime in when we feel necessary. This was a time when we deemed it necessary. Does the forum have new members? Yes it does, it took a while because I didnt have a lot of time to sift through emails, but you'll see that the member count has increased lately. Are posts mixed up amongst forums? No, because I've been moving them to the proper forums. Are there any big arguments out there with the exceptions of the ones where you guys gang up on Chad and I for having lives? I'm a college freshman holding down 2 jobs, school, and an almost year-long relationship. I don't have a lot of time to be on the internet, but when I am, this is the 2nd site I check every internet session I have. I give do a runthrough of EVERY forum EVERY day. Its quite insultin to hear that people think I contribute nothing. Chad and I are not the energy of the forum. The members are. The forum hasn't been lagging because Chad and I arent here. You can't blame that on us. I mean, HOW can that be blamed on us? We don't have the time to organize contests right now, but that's not stopping anyone from running something just for fun. You guys want someone to step up then step up for yourselves until we can get back in the swing of things during the summer. You can only blame it on us for so long.
How is a new layout "fun and exciting"? Really, we took nothing away. There were no new features or anything. Chad handles the contests. Chad is a college sophomore with a job, he just joined a fraternity, and is heavily involved in cheerleading. It doesn't leave a lot of time for an internet community and running contests. It's more time consuming than you may think. He's put a lot of effort into keeping this contests well thought out and planned. He has stated that the Survivor game is on hold until he has a chance to make it worth wild for you guys. Would you rather something wait and be good or be half-assed right now? No new Ask-Diamonds, that's not our fault. We post them when Diamond sends them to us.
Don't even try to act like we took something away from you guys. Just because we aren't as active as we used to be doesnt mean we're not here. Changing a design added nothing and took nothing away from you. It is a ridiculous argument. I sympathize with Phil that he put a lot of work into it for nothing, but the argument that we took away something "fun and exciting" is absolutely ridiculous and frankly very insulting.
You guys want a more exciting forum? Then make it that way! The content of a forum is what makes it what it is, not who runs it. Blaming everything on us just proves that the enjoyment you guys want rests on our shoulders.

Well, Cowboy Guy tried to do just that and he got in trouble for it. I don't want to argue, but Tim, there is only so much we can do. Everything that I can think of to add to the forum to make it more fun, would need permission from you guys.
I totally understand how an online forum isn't as important as real life things, but if Chad is so busy he really should have posted back in November/December saying how busy he was and that the Customs Contest and Survivor game were postponed/cancelled. Or he could have decided then to designate someone else to be in charge of those things. One post stating this in each of those forums wouldn't have taken him very long.
I don't want to sound like I'm ganging up on Chad, because he has done some great things for this forum and I'm very grateful for all of the work and time that you and he have put in here. People grow up and away, and sometimes life takes us in different directions than we planned. I am very happy that Chad is going to college and is doing so well. That should be his main priority. So, having said that, maybe you and Chad should appoint someone else to be a Mod and take over some of the duties that Chad had. That way, the members here won't feel abandoned and maybe we can have some of the fun things back.

Look, as far as the new layout goes, no one can even get an ounce of reasoning as to how that made the forum more fun. A shiney new wrapping paper does not change what's in the inside of the present. If you guys want a more fun forum, start posting some fun stuff.
The fact that we have to approve everything you guys deem fun proves that you are completely reliant on us or contests where you get free stuff. Look at other online forums, they don't even come close to that. You guys definitely show your appreciation when those times are occurring, but now that your down to simply entertaining yourselves with the passion for collecting and the shows you love which brought you here in the first place, you can't seem to do it.
Would you rather us not do anything at all? We can't just hand over the contests to someone. We get a lot of donations 1, that are sent only to Chad, and 2, that are only trusted with Chad.
Here's a few suggestions for making your forum more exciting:
- Post random, fun, interesting news articles you read in the paper or on the internet, something you think would be interesting to read. The Lounge doesnt have to be a mesh of things that you can't post anywhere else like random pictures of yourself. Post things everyone can relate and reply to.
- Stop posting "cool" or "That's neat!" Take the time to actually write out something that someone wants to read and you might actually get a real discussion going.
- Run your own contests. See exactly how much work it takes to try and get a sponsor and to come up with rules that everyone won't tear apart and later accuse you of being one-sided or unfair with.
Seriously? Give me some ideas? What are all these plans that would make the forum more fun that Chad and I are stopping you from doing (Survivor and Custom Awards aside)? So if you guys got a new layout again, that would stop the complaining for what, an hour? 2 maybe? It's not going to change anything until you guys step up and realize what makes a forum: the topics and discussions, not the possibilities of winning free stuff.

Read the custom awards thread. Nobody there is angling for free stuff or trying to force new content out of you guys. We just want a chance to celebrate all of the hard work that the customizers did last year. That's why I come to this forum - because of the FIGURES. Several people there have said that they don't care about prizes - just the badges and banners that CowboyGuy made would be enough.
My only complaint, ever, has been that the Custom Awards were never even cancelled. The thread about them - which Chad started! - disappeared without warning and without explanation. No-one else has ever been given a chance to take it over, help spread out the work, anything.
I can't speak to the rest of your post. I'm sorry that you're feeling attacked. And I don't want to insult you or hurt your feelings. You seem like a great guy. All I want, is for someone to tell us whether the Custom Awards will ever be resurrected.

Sure, the layout wasn't changing the content, but the sheer excitement and urge to explore created by it sparked off so many posts and general happiness. The contests... it's not about free stuff or that we're ungrateful but Survivor/Custom Awards are content and were drawing a lot of attention to the forum... then they disappeared without a trace.

Tim, it was never about prizes or giveaways...those were fun but as you recall the forum existed long before we even had these giveaways. Refreshing the overall look, adding new graphics (banner, icons), updating pictures of the upcoming figures, running awards competitions for best customs, best graphics, best fanfics...the simple appreciation of the talented people here would be enough. Over a Tomb Raider forum I like there's a small feature that called "Friday Goodness" which involves Eidos sharing new screen shots and renders of upcoming TR games. Using something like this here would be cool...perhpas asking DST to send over 1 high-res image of the upcoming figures/statues/busts, and some old In-progress images on weekly bases would also bring some life to the forum. Nobody expect you guys to be here 24/7 but you need to give free hand to some of your mods in refreshing this forum with new layout, banners and figure images, teaming members to re-create the BtVSFigs site we had, and asking JustisDemon to appear once a week and deliver some Friday goodness. I'm positive this forum can easily get back to be excited as it first was back in 2003.

But I guess that's too much to ask when a main moderator and admin are both online who are running a 2.5 month late contest. I can't understand why you're getting so upset when you've only been a member here for about a month. Most of these members here who have been understanding have been here for years and understand what's going on in the lives of our moderators. Taking 18 hours of college class myself, and being heavily involved in a sorority can take up a lot of time.. and it's not necessarily the lack of a game or custom awards that has brought this forum down, it's the fact that most of the members cannot talk civil with each other people and have stopped putting energy into being a part of this forum. If you really want to improve this forum, start showing some respect to each other, and maybe it'll become a place people want to visit more.

I know there are some bumps here and stuff but I still am drawn to byvsfigs cause that's were I met all of you guys ... Tim and Chad are good guys that are just going through some stuff in their personal lives...they are becoming adults with college and stuff that they have to deal with. When btvs figs first started they were young kids in high school and had more time to put aside for the forum. i don't fault them for the things that are happening at thier forum. It's part of life growing up and changing. I accept change it is a way of life....
