Hey guys! This here thread is for discussing, or letting us know of some new, creative ideas you think would benefit the forum. For example: I am working on many new banners for the forums header, as well as coming up with a new color scheme and new icons...to give the forum a fresh, new look! Sort of a re-vamp. I think giving us new things to look at keeps things interesting at least. What would you like to see happen for the forum? New sections? Renaming sections? Do you like the idea of birthday e-cards from the forum? Newsletters? Anything! Let's hear it!

I would love a newsletter! I also think a good idea could be contests in the fan art section. The mods could provide images and say what each banner would have to include and then the winning banner could be added into the rotation on the top of the forum.
PS: I like the idea of this thread!

A news letter would be neat, with updates on figures and members and stuff.
I think new rules need to be set in the art/fiction section. I also think people with virtual series should get sub-folders and be able to post ALL their series in one place (to keep it together).

I can't wait to see all the new banners/colors/icons CowboyGuy! You do fantastic work so I'm sure they'll be great. I think a monthly newsletter would suit our needs just as well as a podcast, as it could still include all the things mentioned in the other thread. As for other suggestions, I would really like to see us have some official contests that have a better turn out than in the past. There are three major areas that come to mind: Fanfiction, Graphic Design, and Custom Figures. I know there have been a lot of different contests in the past, but it would be nice if we could stamp out a generic structure for contests so that members can become used to it and perhaps this will increase participation. What about having those little 'link to us' icons that members could use on their own sites as an advertisement for us? That's all I've got for now...

Good suggestions so far! Lets hear some more...and be as creative with it as you want to! Creativity leads to some fantastic ideas!

The entertainment section encompasses a lot, I'm wondering if it might also benefit from suboards. Not for generic discussion, but possibly for episode discussions of other shows that a lot of members are watching (Alias, Lost, etc.). I think it might be easier for members to keep up a discussion of plotpoints without having to bring up old threads. Like our buffy episode club, there could just be one thread for each episode.
Another suggestion about contests, perhaps we could have a few contests that don't involve someone having to obtain or purchase a prize for, such as a forum logo contest where participants would design a logo for the forum and the winning one would then become our logo. I was on the American Eagle website a couple days ago and saw that they had basic graphic designs that could be printed on iron transfer paper and then put on a t-shirt. We could do the same with the winning logo and it wouldn't cost the forum anything as members would be getting the supplies themselves if they wanted a t-shirt.

This is not so much a suggestion but a question. Does anyone host discussion times or chat rooms on this board. I wanted to know if there's a time everyone would be on at the same time to discuss a topic.

How about a debate forum for debating topics? Could have debate teams and things like that.

I like the idea of sub boards in the entertainment section. I think it would help if they were devided into movies, tv, music, and other. Everyone is coming up with great ideas! I would be thrilled to see even 1/2 of them inacted!

Yeah I like that idea, also we could have a sub board in either the Entertainment section or the Buffy/Angel discussion section for the cast of Buffy and Angel.

This is just my two cents, but I think the sub boards we have now are fine. Once you start making sub boards for everything and there wind up being 20 of them, it takes way too long to go through all of them and be able to see everything new.
For what it's worth, I think the way things are organized at the moment are just fine.

I'd like some rules posted. I'd like some invisible lines painted day-glo orange. I'd like to know what is acceptable behavior here and what isn't. I think it's fine that this isn't a democracy, but as it isn't, I think rules are needed. There is nothing wrong with having rules. Where it gets dicey is when one doesn't know that one has broken an unwritten rule.
I like this place a lot. I have much admiration for Chad and Tim,who have managed this rabble very well for so long. I did not like what happened to me last week, and I don't want to go there again. But given my age and crankiness, I am bound to do something wrong unless I have some guidelines. Chad made a very generous offer the other day, to be a punching bag when people were mad about something. I most certainly don't want to punch Chad, who seems to be a very nice guy. I don't want to punch anybody. I actually want to be a well-behaved forum member, and I have tried to be that. But I still need rules to go by. Is this possible? They don't have to be detail-specific. But there could be subjects and attitudes that could be ruled out of order.
If the forum isn't a democracy, and there are no posted rules... I don't know. It just seems like something is out of kilter somewhere.

It just seems like something is out of kilter somewhere. What happened to you was bad judgement on my part and I fixed it within 5 minutes of doing it. The rules are stated in the Terms of Service both when you sign up and at the top of the forum. Every other thing is pretty subjective. Things people do and say rub people different ways. I can't say "a rule is you have to spell properly" or "you cannot fight". One, it's unrealistic, and 2, that makes for a boring forum. I think if everyone could use their own good judgment and common sense as to what is appropriate and what's not, then there wouldn't be nearly as many problems as people complain about. To fix those problems that people complain about, it's going to take everyone pitching in and making an effort. Don't just bitch and moan about it, contribute to solving it. (not directed toward you mothperson, everyone)

Yeah. Okay. I guess. I see what you're saying, Tim.
And I agree with it.
Could I just say that I truly believe NOTHING IS PERSONAL. We only reveal ourselves in what we say here. We cannot possibly pass judgment on anyone. If I say something that I consider pretty mild, but which makes someone else scream at me (not you, Flobbster), I'm not going to grovel trying to be nice. I will, however, remember the subject that set off the person, and I most certainly will not go there again.
I dunno - perhaps the rule should be something general, like "Be kind."
I will try. It isn't that hard.

I'm likin' these little Sub-Boards. So how about we get one in the PALz and Props section; seeing as they have nothing to do with each other, besides they're made by the same company (but not really 'cause Factory X makes the props). Just a thought.

I don't know what's involved in archiving, and I can't even make the things myself, but I would love to see a gallery of banners. They come and go so quickly. The banner-makers are on to their next projects, but I am left whining "Wait! I want to see that again."
I'd love to see an art gallery where we can go and admire past creations.

What a great idea mothperson! That would be such a cool thing to see! People are always changing banners and it would be really nice to see some of the old ones.

I don't know about that. Alot of people have their banners saved on a server, and once they are done with it they take it off the server to save space. Unless someone can host everything, then it would be neat.
