I just assumed they would have more articulation than this. Is that right? No elbow or knee joints? That is too bad.

I am really disappointed with this series of figures. I love, love, LOVE BSG but the likenesses are just too far off. I though Tyrol was Lee in the first photos. The shots coming to light now are not giving me anymore faith. Such a shama as I love the SG-1 figures which, although not as close as I'd like, have much better likenesses. Somehow we have to let Diamond know this. The pre-sales of cases to retailers are probably doing great, so for all they know everyone loves these. When the truth is, people like me are buying them DESPITE the bad likenesses. I've thought about joining MySpace just so I could post to Jean St. Jean's blog, but it seems like it would be awfully rude to tell the sculptor directly that he's not doing the characters justice. Seems like it would be better to tell Diamond somehow. But how? If anyone at Diamond is reading this now, there are several discussions about the figures that you should see, to get a sense of how fans don't like the head sculpts, including: community.livejournal.com/battlestar_blog/634409.htmlthreads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2516882" artasylum.com/forum/index.php?topic=822

Hmmmmm.
I'm really not seeing the majority of the characters in these figures. That said, I'm not very familiar with characters like Hot Dog or Anders, so probably wouldn't "recognise" them anyway. But Helo and Chief are two of my favourite characters and I don't really see them at all, especially Helo who looks like he could be just about anybody.
I'm also REALLY annoyed at all the different "outfits" they're using for the first wave. I would have MUCH preferred they go with the most "common" outfits for each of them, or at least the most visually interesting and that which is most associated with the character (so for Helo it would be the flight suit and for Chief it would be the orange jump suit).
As it stands, I only plan on getting Apollo and one of the Sixes (not sure which one as yet, depends if both are available in Australia or not). I'd really like to get Helo and Chief as well, but the bad likeness and "clothing" choice have ruled them both out for me.
Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread updated with news and pics.
Cheers, Haeph.

I really prefer no movement down the waist, but now, the problem with these joints is they came so loose very fast, the same joints of Riddick sota line.

Tyrol looks like Keanu Reeves on speed, but you forgot to mention Anders, the worst figure likeness ever, he looks like Brendan Fraiser and it's the guy from Pensacola.

I don't see Brendan Frasier in there, but I am skipping the Anders figure in my otherwise-complete pre-order. He just looks like some guy with giant arms. If they'd put hiim in his soccer, er, spaceball outfit, then maybe I'd have gotten him...if he didn't have those huge arms.
Steriods cause cancer, kids. Just say no.

Yeah I'd heard about that when Olmos said so, and believed him even though it was later denied (and then recently confirmed). Makes sense to make it a solid series with a beginning, middle, and end. That said, I wish SciFi Channel "seasons" were not only a half-season long. ::sad::

BespinBoy noticed, and I hereby convey, that the Diamond Exclusive Chief figure is now up for preorder on the DST site! If you haven't already preordered it from NewForceComics.com, go place your preorder now.
UPDATE: And in fact if you ordered from anywhere but DST, reorder it from DST because NewForceComics and the other places are not going to be receiving any of these Chiefs after all.

I also do not think these figures sport good character likeness. That aside, I will likely grab one of each of them. I'm only just starting to get into BSG. It's a shame that companies have such a hard time making hot men & women! The likeness just isn't there. I'm sure we all would have preferred they base their Helo's on the 3rd pic below! ;D ;D Sam & Six should have been much more attractive.

"The second series of Battlestar Galactica action figures features a Cylon, a drug runner, a Cylon-lover and a prophet. Three exclusive figures will also be available, featuring a wife, a witch and a wingman!"
I'm a fan, but not sure I'm enough of a fan to figure out all these clues. Plus, I haven't seen any of season 3 as yet so that might put me at a disadvantage.
But I'll take some guesses:
1. Cylon - Boomer/Sharon 2. Drug Runner - Tigh 3. Cylon-lover - Baltar 4. Prophet - President Roslin 5. Wife - Ellen Tigh 6. Witch - Number 3 7. Wingman - Adama Snr
Basically, I have no idea. And I'm not sure if subsequent series are going to feature variants of either the "regular" or "exclusive" figures from series 1? So, an orange jump-suit Tyrol could be the cylon-lover perhaps? Or is that something Adama Snr was accused of being?
Fuzzy memory. Need to re-watch seasons 1 and 2 obviously.
Cheers, Haeph.

By the decriptions, I think they may be: 1. Cylon - Boomer/Sharon 2. Drug Runner - Kat 3. Cylon-lover - Baltar 4. Prophet - President Roslin 5. Wife - Dee 6. Witch - Number 3 7. Wingman - Starbuck
