I don't really have a review all my own up tonight. I'm doing a co-review with long time reader Steve Horwitz of the new Premium Format Creature from the Black Lagoon, a statue that many of us have waited for a long time. For most the wait will be worth it, although I have a couple minor nits to pick. The true full guest review is from Jeff Parker, who looks at the new Hot Toy Movie Icon figure of Marlon Brando. You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comThanks for reading! Michael MWC

I'm not a huge fan of Halo, and yet even I love the figures from McFarlane Toys. I came across wave 2 this last week at Toys R Us, and couldn't resist picking up several for a review. I grabbed the TRU exclusive EVA, along with the Drone and the Brute Stalker. It's amazing that McFarlane, a company all too well known for plastic statues, is giving us a redefinition of action figure articulation. I also have a QSE review up of the new Doko trading 'coins'. I don't know if these are going to catch on, but stranger things have happened. You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comLong time reader Monte Williams also did a very nice article/interview on the site over at his blog, Geek Creek. Check it out at: photographreak.livejournal.com/9141.htmlThanks for reading! Michael MWC

The second series of Movie Masters figures from Mattel have hit, and it looks like a second chase figure most of us wil have no chance of finding. I did pick up the Batman Begins Batman and the Scarecrow though, and I'm pretty happy with both. The guest review is from Jeff Parker, and he looks at the latest Hot Toys Alien Vs Predator figure, the Predator 'cleaner'. You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comAnd if you haven't checked out the Summer Steals sale over at Things From Another World, you should. They are down to 60% off today, and they have some really good items in the list, including Sideshow figures, Gentle Giant mini-busts and others. I'll be doing SDCC coverage next week, so keep an eye out for that, but I'll have my regular reviews as well. Have a great weekend, and thanks for reading! Michael MWC

I saw the Dark Knight in IMAX yesterday. It is the best comic book hero movie ever done. Go see it, and you will not be disappointed. In that Batman theme, I'm looking at the latest Batman Black and White statue tonight, the Gotham Knight version based on the new animated direct to DVD release. I wasn't expecting much with this one, but I have to admit to liking it quite a bit. This is partly because the paint ops are cleaner than the have been the last couple releases, but it's also do to a design that works much better in person. I'm out in LA now, out enjoying myself for a couple days before the craziness of SDCC starts. I thought it was appropriate to look at something SDCC related tonight, so I'm reviewing the Gentle Giant Harry Potter busts of Fred and George Weasley. These are con exclusves for GG, so attendees to SDCC can pick them up this week. This is a weird pair, since they're twins, and yet one looks good and one doesn't. Amazing what the choice of expression and pose can make, eh? You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comI'll be starting my coverage late tomorrow night, and I'll send out an update when I do. Thanks for reading! Michael MWC

Tonight's review covers the latest Star Wars release from Sideshow - Episode IV Luke Skywalker. Like the recently released Tatooine Han, this was a figure we had to have, but I'm not sure it's one that wows me. The head sculpt is probably the best Luke we've gotten from Sideshow, although I think I still prefer the Jedi version, open mouth and all. Of course, with the big announcements from Sideshow at SDCC, the Star Wars line has new life in it. You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comI put up some of my SDCC coverage last night (a little Mattel and Sideshow) but I'll be doing around 400 photos tonight. It's not going to be til late though, even for the west coasters, since I won't start on it til around midnight out here. Thanks for reading! Michael MWC

I just hit home, finishing up a long and exhausting - but always fun - week at SDCC. I have my coverage pretty much wrapped up, and you can find it at the link: www.mwctoys.com/sdcc2008_main.htmI also have a review up tonight, and I'm looking at a line that's been out for awhile - Indiana Jones Adventure Heroes! These little guys are great toys, and a ton of fun. You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comThanks for reading! Michael MWC

While in LA the day before SDCC, I hit a brand new Target, with freshly packed pegs of nifty new toys. I was happily surprised to find both of the new DC Universe Infinite Heroes 3 packs, along with quite a few of the single packs. I'm looking at both of the 3 packs tonight, with a review of the single figures to come. These turned out much better than I expected, although there are still a few paint issues. They fit in nicely with other lines that are 3 3/4" to 4" in scale, and the articulation isn't perfect, but it's an improvement over what we got with the smaller Dark Knight line. I LOVE the Infinite Heroes line. How can you not when one of the first 3-packs is Gordon with SWAT officers!! They have a good line-up shown already:

When I got back from SDCC, I had a nice surprise from Hasbro - my mail away sixth scale Ark of the Covenant! Considering this guy only costs $10 shipping and handling (assuming you wanted four 12" Indy figures...you did want four 12" Indy figures, right?), it's very impressive. It's got a couple issues here and there, but the quality and appearance are good enough to put it with your Sideshow or Medicom Indy display as well. I also have a great guest review up from L, who covers the huge and very, very, very cool new Millenium Falcon from Hasbro. Yea, it comes with a hefty price tag too, but this could be one of the best vehicles ever done for the mass market. You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comAnd don't forget my best/worst list from SDCC over at QSE. It took awhile for it to go up Tuesday night, so if you missed it then, check it out now. Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend! Michael MWC

I think I'll be doing a full SDCC Exclusive week this week...at least that's the plan til we see what shows up at the store or on the porch. Let's start tonight with one of the coolest exclusives I picked up - Gomez! This insect of mystery sports both the new 9" body from Mezco and a terrific example of their work on cloth outfits in this scale. I also have a guest review from Jeff Parker that covers the latest Rocky III figure in the Hot Toys Rocky line. Why is it that when I try and read the new guest review about an Alien vs Predator diorama, I get linked to a review of a Rocky 3 figure?

I'm sticking with the SDCC exclusive theme this week, with a look at the Sideshow Star Wars Aayla Secura tonight. This is one of those figures that isn't exciting, but isn't terrible either. She is the first of the Jedi (other than old Ben of course) that I prefer in the Jedi robe rather than out, and she has one very serious eye problem, but in the end I was neither flim flammed or flabbergasted. Things are mighty dry right now, but I picked up the Kotobukiya TIE Fighter Pilot 'kit' (statue) recently, and I'm covering him tonight. I'm always happier with the Koto statues that don't require human likenesses, like this guy, and they picked a fairly decent pose. They also give you extra arms so you can go with one of two different looks, which is always a big plus. You can find the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comI'm switching html editors and web servers right now, and I'm not happy so far with anything I've tried. I may also end up screwing up some things on the site, so if you see any bugs or problems, please let me know asap. I also have a new feature debuting sometime later this week that I think you'll like...I'll update you when it's live. Thanks for reading! Michael MWC

I told myself last week that after four reviews of SDCC exclusives, that was pretty much it. Turns out, I was lying. Things remain a bit dry right now, so I delved into the pile o’ loot from the show for tonight’s review – the Futurama Robot Santa and Santa Bender! I figure it makes sense to look at this set however, since the Robot Santa will be the BAF for the next several sets of Toynami Futurama figures, and might just be enough to convince you to pick them all up. I also have a new feature working tonight, which you’ll find at the very end of the Futurama review. That’s right, scroll all the way to the end…past the last large photo…and you’ll find the new section where YOU can also give the figures an overall score! This is a 5 star system though, unlike my four star system, so I’ve converted my Overall right next to the voting box, so you can see how it compares with the readers results. I can expand this feature to even allow readers to enter short text blocks with their score, sort of like mini-reviews. Please let me know how you like this feature, and also let me know what you think about adding in the text. If there’s a strong positive response, I’ll look to improving it even further. It took me literally MONTHS to find the entire wave of DC Universe series 2 figures, so you can imagine my surprise when I found all of wave 3 this week. I cover the five figures tonight - plus the Grundy BAF - and it's a mixed bag, that's for sure. Deathstroke is fantastic...Sinestro not so much. You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comA couple website changes to mention as well. There might still be some links floating around out there from years ago that point to index.htm or REVIEW_INDEX.htm, but those pages are now redirecting to the main domain, and those redirect pages will be dropped shortly as well. And don't forget to take advantage of the new 'reader rating' feature at the end of the reviews! Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend, Michael MWC
