I couldn't have asked for better Buffy news (other than a movie)! This is so great. I can't wait!

Hehe, giggle! Though I am happy to finally get an offical season 8... Since Queen of the Slayer was a joke.

I thought this was suppose to be out next year so this was a nice surprise for me. I always thought that the Immortal sounded a little too perfect but I'm willing to see what's up. Although it doesn't look to hopeful for Angel and Spike to appear I'm curious why the Immortal would show so much interest in them. (And it looks like he'll appear in some form during Spike vs. Dracula, 4 I think.) It will be interesting to see how these character have changed and will interact. I never felt that the Scoobies were really that close during the last two seasons so who knows what their like now.

I would hate for this to have any Spike on it, since it is BUFFY... I just want to know what happen to the core-4...

Well I guess I never got why the Immortal went through so much effort just to tick them off. In Angel s5 they weren't even near him and he decides to play keep away with the head. He just came off to me as someone who uses his time and money to get petty revenge on them. All that trouble because they were a distraction? It doesn't even look like he even meets them in person (maybe he did meet Spike during the tax thing) but he makes sure to make them pay in a personal manner.
Well I doubt that Spike would be in it much if at all because IDW owns the rights to the Angel characters and Darkhorse is doing the Buffy comics. Since Spike was last on Angel he is considered an Angel character. They do make acceptions sometimes: like IDW having to ask to use Cecily, and I guess for Darkhorse to use the Immortal. IDW said that they could use Spike some though. And really I doubt he'd be used much if he was, maybe after the mini he would be.

Im really looking forward to this but I hope it does focus on the core four and not lesser characters.

Miniseries instead of ongoing and no artist named? This isn't really news, and certainly not good if it is correct.

Excellent news, hitnrun017!
I was waiting for this to happen ever since Joss said he might do a comics series of Season 8...and finally it happens! ;D

What does canon even mean? I keep hearing it and I have no clue what it means.

The term Canon means that the story is official, either created by or overseen by Joss Wedon himself and is considered what officially happened in the Buffy storyline, Things that are not canon are stories created by someone else (like fan fictions and books like Queen of the Slayers)

I think Xander will die. Yes, I said and I'm glad. I think Xander will die in one of the issues. Killed, maimed, and murdered. Joss thought of killing Xander in "Dirty Girls," and having him return in the last episode as the First. It would have been awesome if he'd gone through with it. Might have made "Chosen" just a tad more interesting.
I'm sick of the happy ending.

Well I heard that sometime after the mini series there would be an ongoing title but Joss wouldn't be writing it. It will still be considered canon though. The original plan which both Joss and editor Scott Allie have mentioned several times (as I've read) was that Joss was to write the first arc in the new ongoing, about 4 issues. After that, other writers would take over but Joss would keep a close eye on everything. If the miniseries thing is true, it means one of a couple of things: fewer Buffy comics, or maybe just do a series of miniseries.

I've been wondering if/when this comic was going to come out. I didn't read "Queen of the Slayers" because of it not being official. I can't wait to find out what happened to the gang. Does anyone know when these are being released? Could someone please tell me where I can order it from. My only local comic shop did not get any of the new Angel comics. Are the Angel comics, "Cursed" & "Old Friends" considered Canon or whatever? Thanks in advance.

I don't think the Angel comics are considered canon. IDW has said that their storytelling is very limited to what they can write about. Like they can't tell about what happened in the alley or say when certain comics (s5 stuff) take place in term of being between what episodes. I keep hearing that their not "canon/canon" like the new Buffy ones are. I think for it to be considered canon Joss has to offical say it is and give the writers permission to write freely or at least more so than they are now.
