On the Diamond site the expected arrival date for the Deluxe Willow Wave has been putsed back to August 15th!This is so frustrating to me...I was all geared up to go get me some new Deluxe figures this week and now, last minute, they tell us that we have to wait 6 more weeks!I hate that these are now coming out so close to the Judge wave...can't thay space out their buffy collectables a little. I mean now we are going to get hit with the Deluxe Willow Wave, the Judge Waves and the Spike Essens Statue all at the same time. I just can't understand why it's taking so long to get these figures produced. I mean they have like 97% re-use of parts from a line that was produced 2 YEARS AGO! There are only 3 head sculpts that need to be tooled...I just don't get it. Collecting Buffy figures is frustrating!

What a shame! I was really looking forward these. Don't worry about the Judge wave - with DST reputation and consistency these would probably end up with October - November release. I seriously don't get what the big deal - they only release 1 wave of deluxe each year - and even now they only release 4 basic figures with no exclusive....so why on earth can't they make them on time.

That is why I'm in love with NECA... Harry Potter figures come fast, and lots of characters, great sculpts. And the TRA Lara, was announced and will hit the stores in August. There is no re-use and I don't even need to say that the sculpts can beat everything DST has ever produced. The Buffy line is still really interesting to me, but only because I'm a Buffy devoted lover, otherwise, I'd only spend my time and money on NECA now. And Sideshows, they rock too

Oh I know Lior, when DST announces a new Buffy product and gives a release month or season I usually add on a few months...or a season. That had origionally announced this line for May 07, and that was a year ago. Then it got pushed to July 4 and now August 15th! I just don't understand how they can have this much of a delay with a line that is produced once a year with so much re-use of parts from previouse lines.
and R. Slayer, I really had to refrain in my original post from compairing them to the Harry Potter line. NECA has gotten those out on time or early and the sculpts are great, although I've seen some REALLY bad paint jobs, and the characer selection has been great. since March I have 8 different characters with two variants and a build a "figure" (I don't really count the practice dummy as a figure). In a few weeks I will have another character (Hagrid) and then, shortly after that, when the next line comes out I'll have another Character (Dumbledore) to add to my collection plus 3 more variants (2 more Deatheaters and a new Harry). They released Snape like 2 months early as a Borders exclusive...That was fun, finding him!
Then we get DST with their Buffy Deluxe line where we get 2 or 3 new characters per wave per year. Sure we MIGHT get some variants, but that doesn't make up for the amount of characters and year between the lines.

I totally forgot they were originally planned for May...now I'm even more annoyed by this. If after so many delays they also gonna have bad quality I would seriously consider making Essence of Buffy my last purchase of DST's Buffy stuff.

Cant say I'm too upset. There are literally tons of Doctor Who figures coming to the US this week and I would hate to have to pick and choose due to funds. Now I wont have to.

It's the principle of it I can't really afford them this week either since I spent $125 on Harry Potter stuff on Saturday. I'm just getting frustrated with how DST is treating their Buffy License...not even a SDCC exclusive?

Yeah Jinxieman, it's really bad to see this happening to the Buffy line, the lack of investment and interest from DST, when we see other companies, like NECA, doing a great job and believing in their lines. I think that what I'm trying to say is that it seem that DST really doesn't want the line to continue strong, they seem to be dragging it until it reaches the end. Sad? Hell yeah, I love my Buffy figures, even though they're not as good as the others. But it is heartbreaking to see what Buffy figures could actually be if handled by a different company, and it's really frustrating to see myself giving up on the newer Buffy figures gradually, and falling for new, different lines. I love Harry Potter too, since forever, but it's not fair to compare any other hobby, movie, or TV show with Buffy. Buffy is one of the things I love most in the world.

I'll make an optimistic comment and say, maybe the delay has something to do with getting the variants. It's pretty sad though these have gotten delay ... and like everyone else has said, why? I do doubt it has anything to do with the variants because it's to late to adjust the basic assortment to include them and re-solicit, unless they are going to push it back more. It does make you wonder if DST even care anymore. I mean the toy market is unstable to begin with, and highly competitive. How many people have already said they aren't too upset because they have other toy licenses out right now they want to buy? Plus the basic assortment isn't all that great, except for getting two new character heads, but the figures of Willow everyone wants the most haven't been addressed in months. Even though the shows been off the air for so long, there is still life in the license when it's handled properly - like the Faith/Giles wave was. I just hope the next ComicCon will bring some good Buffy news.

Um...Neca is great and all but they wouldnt have given us half as many Buffy figures as DST and MAC did. They dropped Kill Bill after 2 lines and just cancelled their Nightmare Before Christmas figure line because sales were slumping...and that was one of their top lines for a while. Dont kid yourself, no company would be pimping Buffy figures right now...certainly not NECA. They would've released two series and cancelled it.

I didn't expect anything less than this from Diamond. I too am thinking that The Judge wave will be pushed back as well, then again it might be like the year that Deluxe Buffy/Faith came out around the same time as Wes/Lorne and they were supposed to be released at different times. Hopefully this will give them the chance to figure out what they are doing with the Exclusive Willow figures that aren't available for preorder anywhere. I really wish that they would release more than one Deluxe line a year so that we can get more and they can go out with a bang when they finally decide to stop producing Buffy and Angel items altogether. I have a feeling that the Revamped line that they were so insistent on replacing the regular line with won't do so well, then they should just make more Deluxe figures a year and make money that way.

Ah well that's too bad. I wonder if maybe they have a deal with certain factories and other lines like Stargate are taking up a lot of production time.

Dont kid yourself, no company would be pimping Buffy figures right now...certainly not NECA. They would've released two series and cancelled it. I know, but I'm talking about the now, actually. I think that with NBXmas line they did a great job and produced loads of characters, but that's manly because there's no outfit change with them, except from Jack. So the line didn't last much, but there wasn't much to do then. It's one single movie. Buffy is a TV show, with 144 episodes of one our each. In this case you have plenty of room to make lots of different characters with different outfits. And about Potter line, they're already on they're way to release the 3rd line, and there's at least 2 yet to come. But then again, Harry Potter world is a vast territory, like Buffy, lots of different characters, and different portraits of each one. I agree with you that many companies would not carry the Buffy line as much as DST did, and, as I said, I love them, and I'm really thankful for all they've done, in spite of the lack of "life" in the figures. But that's the thing. I love my figures, I truly do, but they really lack style. They have some good head sculpts (mostly) but dull bodies. This is supposed to be an adult line, and they put a great head in a toyish, bulky body. All I'm saying is DST is keeping the line alive, but no really. They're dragging it since the Cordy/Xander line. We liked some of the figures, but, really, were they REALLY good like the rest? Breaking issues, stupid bodies. What about the Faith/Giles line everybody, including me, was so excited about? Blow up doll and strange-o crossed eyed toupee guy Giles. They delivered a terrible Faith figure compared to the beautiful prototype, and when questioned about that, their answer was "the prototype wasn't handled with the care we'd like"? Bullshit. Poor answer for a big problem. This, for me, was a sword through the chest. I was really excited with the line, but this was a big blow to my Buffy collection. I'll surely buy the deluxe Willows, 'cause they look pretty good, but I'm afraid we'll never get the variants, and that the Tough Love Willow we loved so much is gonna fall into forgetting.

NO!!! ARGH! This is SO unfair! I wanted these in time for my birthday on the 23rd of July! Now we have to wait! And I also forgot these were originally planned for May. Damn it! Why the delay? It doesn't make sense. We only get one line per year and most of it is re-use. I hope they turn out as great figures, the Deluxe figures usually do. And I doubt the variants are being included. I hope the Judge wave is delayed too now, because I can't buy them all at once. I'm really disappointed with the delay. Don't get me wrong, I love Buffy and the figures, and I'm very positive about them most of the time but it's things like this and poor quality sometimes that pisses me off.

Hmm, I guess it means I'm really not excited about this line since I'm not too upset or surprised by the push back. I've been looking forward to it, sure, but I'm not terribly excited? Its like how jinxieman put it. Actually I know I do want the Willows, but its more to do with the love of the show than the anticipation of the quality.
Oh, and don't start collecting Doctor Who. If you do, you'll see just how good likeness can be, and how well sculpted with suitable articulation the bodies can be, and you'll compare your Faiths with your Doctors, and there will be no comparison. : P

I guess I take this news as both bad and good news. Bad being delayed. I was hoping this line would be at SDCC to show fans that the Buffy line is still active and new stuff is being made and sold. Good for the fact it's just delayed and not canceled or changes being made to which figures are going to be released.

I'm really bummed by this too. I agree with esc that it would help to have these out in time for the convention season. They are going to miss out on sales for this, and some of the stores that carry the Deluxe line are probably not too happy about the push back either.
It will also hurt sales if they come out the same month as the Judge waves. It was going to be bad enough that there were six figures (2 waves) due in the same month in order to build the Judge figure. If those are still planned for late August and the Deluxe figures due in mid-August, that's really asking a lot for fans to purchase all these at once. I pre-ordered mine and already paid for them (using BCC gift certificates), but most people pay for them when they come in.
Either DST really doesn't care about them hitting all at once, or they are getting a really good factory discount where their action figures are produced.
