Welcome to the second week of The Hot Seat! Randomly selected off the huge list of requests, I am pleased to announce that it was Girl Power who was the lucky winner! Being a member of BTVSfigs, it's hard not to notice a couple of members. And one that sticks out in my mind is Maria. Where to begin to describe her? She's one of the most kind and considerate members on this board. And at the same time, she never fails to make people laugh. Especially with her obsession with cuteness, which provides many entertaining threads to say the least Hopefully this week's Hot Seat will provide those who don't know her an opportunity to learn more about her and her personality. And hopefully we'll all enjoy it as much as last week! Okay, so before I embarrass myself or (anyone else) any further – let’s get on with the questions! Ask away! You have one week to interrogate and quiz Maria (aka. Girl Power) until she can take no more! Have fun! -------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll start off with an easy one: What would be your dream job?

I'm so excited to be the new Hot Seat victim. YAY! I'll try to keep my answers from being too long-winded. After all, who doesn't like to talk about themselves?
Let the games begin!

imagine if you will, that you are an evil witch and your bent on gaining powers, so, which of the charmed ones powers would you steal first, how and why? wayne Hell, I'm not an evil witch, I already desperately want Paige's power to orb. I mean, how cool would that be? You can go anywhere in the world on a moment's notice! No more buying gas. No more car insurance. Mini-vacations to lay on the beach in Figi anytime you want. I don't think I'd need any other power. If I had to battle demons or something, then Piper's powers to freeze things and blow things up would be good, but I think the power to orb trumps everything else. You asked how I'd do it, and I have no idea. I figure if I were an evil witch, I could come up with a spell. However, the three blonde witches could steal all the powers, but orbing, since it's a white lighter power, not witch power. Then again, the Titans stole the power to orb by killing whitelighters. I wouldn't want to kill anyone, but maybe there would be a spell that could work. It's a fantasy world, so I guess I can fantasize it any way that I want it. In that case, I'd like to go back in time, too. That's not one of their powers, but they've done it with spells before. That would be the best.

what was the last thing you ate? Brownies! See, I've had this craving for 3 days. And my back is out right now and I'm in miserable pain. I had to go get some Aleve at the store anyway, so I got these awesome brownies. Now I'm happy, despite the pain. Chocolate cures all ills!

How did find out about the forum? I found it on Google! I don't remember what I was looking up, something about Buffy action figures, maybe Drusilla statues. I found Sasha's customs first, then the board. I lurked for several months, wanting desperately to get in on the fun. I didn't think people could join anymore. Then I saw that there was an alternative way to enroll. I was worried that my application wouldn't be accepted, so I put a lot of thought into. LOL. Once I joined, I started madly doing trades, because I'd been longing to get in all the fabulous trade action for so long. I had never customized before I found the board. Well, actually that's not completely true. I happened to have some acrylic paints for some reason. I hated how Mac's Vamp Spike had such white skin with veins, so I painted him skin-colored. That was years ago. I also used to color in the eyes of my photos back in the 80s before photoshop was invented. I'm a compulsive improver. I always want to make everything prettier and everyone happier.

Do you intend to go grey naturally, or will you dye?
You are issued an average grocery cart in an average grocery store, and given ten minutes to fill it up with anything, and it will all be free. What do you fill it with???
Name five favorite writers, no need to rank.
If reincarnation is required, what would you prefer to come back as?
Favorite insect? (I'm going to keep trying on this one)
As a child, were you ever sent to the principal's office? Made to stand in the corner? Put on detention? If so, why?
If you were to meet Joss Whedon in the street, what would you do?
Can you cook? If so, what is the worst thing you ever made?

Your user name, are you a believer in girl power and did you feel Buffy is the ultimate source of girl power and why? I had to give this question some thought. I'm definitely a believer in girl power and woman power. It has personal meaning for me, because I come from a very abusive, patriarchal family. My da hated women in every sense of the word and did his best to make my mom, my sister, and myself hate ourselves and not believe in ourselves. My heroines as a girl were Wonder Woman, Isis ( a kids live action show), and Charlie's Angels. For me, Wonder Woman was my ultimate girl power source (thought that phrase didn't come along until I was an adult). My sister was probably my biggest source of empowerment. She was intelligent and capable. She kind of showed me what kind of life was possible and encouraged me as best she could. I think that Buffy is just one source of girl power. Her journey is so tragic, that I wonder if younger viewers might take the drama of the show too personally. I think kids take TV as prescriptive. Watching drama makes them feel that life is dramatic and should be to feel real and important. But Buffy as a character is resourceful, powerful, funny, and dogged. I love the character immensely. Someone like her that shows girls they can be a source of power and importance without being tied to a man is a great role model. I also love Xena as a source of girl power. I relate to her struggle to overcome a dark past, though mine was more about being abused and being verbally mean to others as a result, while Xena was a murderous warlord. Xena is also a mortal who fights for what's right out of pure skill and strength she has gained herself. I think that makes her a fabulous role model. As far as religious symbols of female power, Kuan Yin, the Chinese goddess of compassion, and Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, have always appealed to me. But not that trampy Aphrodite from the Xena show. She sucked.

Do you intend to go grey naturally, or will you dye? Dye all the way! I feel lucky that I'm 35 and have only ever found 3 or 4 gray hairs. My mom didn't go gray until her mid 40s. My brother is 46 and has no gray at all. I think I'll probably wash some lighter color in to cover the gray, then eventually have it blondish when it is completely gray. But my mom is 67 and still only half gray, so it's not something I'm worried about. My skin is just so fair that I think gray hair will make me look like a scary ghost. You are issued an average grocery cart in an average grocery store, and given ten minutes to fill it up with anything, and it will all be free. What do you fill it with??? Hmmm-- M&Ms, cage free eggs, wild Alaskan Salmon, tuna, organic milk, sun-dried tomatoes, Kamut bread. It'd have to be a health food store, because that's where I get all my food, except the tuna and candy. I eat either really healthy food, or chocolate. My (probably faulty) reasoning is that it balances out in the end. Name five favorite writers, no need to rank. Jane Austen Toni Morrison Douglas Adams George Will (politics aside, the guy is a mad genius with prose) Shakespeare If reincarnation is required, what would you prefer to come back as? I believe that reincarnation is probable, but I really don't want to come back. Maybe Paris Hilton's dog? I'd come back as my own dog, but that makes no sense at all. Actually, I've had a few people see how I spoil my dog and say that they want to come back as my dog in their next life. But dogs can't eat chocolate, so I guess I'd have to come back as an American whose family is actually nice to her. Or a dolphin! Can dolphins eat chocolate? Favorite insect? (I'm going to keep trying on this one) Ladybug As a child, were you ever sent to the principal's office? Made to stand in the corner? Put on detention? If so, why? One time a teacher hit me on the head with a ruler, because she thought that I made a comment that someone else made. She apologized when she realized her mistake. I was such a nerdy good girl in elementary school. However, I was snotty enough to tell her that she was lucky I didn't sue her. If you were to meet Joss Whedon in the street, what would you do? I would WANT to challenge his belief that having the main character suffering all the time makes good drama. I would WANT to tell him that it was the characters being in pain all the time that made the ratings go down. But really I would be a suck up and tell him that he is an amazing writer and I adore his work. Can you cook? If so, what is the worst thing you ever made? Does toast count? I can bake. I can cook rice. I can even steam veggies. I can make a few things, but mostly I do the salad and my husband cooks the good stuff. I have an agreement with God that he sends me men who cook and don't watch football. It's worked out really well! I've had a lifetime of men who cook and don't watch football. I really recommend making agreements with God. Just say, "God, only send me .... " I have to say that it's worked for me!

If you were buffy, and caleb gave you a choice to save willow or xander, who do you choose to save? Don't you think that Buffy would find a way to save them both? If I were Buffy, I'd save them both. If I were me with Buffy powers, I'd save Willow. Xander really got useless those last two years. I was happy when I heard Nick Brendon say the same thing at a con I went to. He didn't like the direction the character went in either. And I hate that Caleb. Creepy dude. What's the deal with quoting scripture and serving what is essentially Satan? Doesn't he see the silliness in that? Geez. *shakes head* If you were evil, and you had one evil thing to do before buffy killed you, what would you do? One EVIL thing to do? Well, there's this guy who raped and beat this kid I know, so I would kill that guy. I mean, if I were evil I would like evil people I guess, but that's the only evil thing I can think of doing. I want to do it anyway, but I'm just trying to get him put in jail instead. Who was your favorite Buffy/Angel villain? I love Spike, but I think of him more as a hero now, so I'd say Glory. The Mayor is up there on my list too. Oh, Darla! There are too many good ones to choose from. Do you like Harry Potter? I've never read the books, but I love the movies. I think they are exceptionally well done. Each one is better than the last. This is fun! Keep the questions coming.

What's your favorite colour? (very basic question, i know) I go back and forth between royal purple and royal blue. I think I prefer purple, but it's such an intense color that I can't take too much of it. Most people who know me think it's royal blue. I wear that color a lot. See, even the simple questions get these long drawn out answers. I can't shut myself up! Ahhh!! What was your favorite movie from 2005? Probably Star Wars. I think that was the best Star Wars movie of all time. I went to see it with a friend's 6 year old son. When Anakin got his legs cut off caught on fire, I covered his eyes. The kid sat there with me covering his eyes and said, "Maria, I've already seen this movie 2 times before." I was like, "Oh yea." And I took my hand off his face. That movie's too brutal for kids, IMHO. What's the worse movie you have ever seen? Posse, hands down. It's the only movie I've ever walked out on. What's your favorite Charmed season? Season 4! Cole secretly becomes the Source of all Evil, Phoebe becomes his queen. It was so great! Plus, I like Paige more than Prue.

Do you know the Muffin Man? You know, I've MET the Muffin Man over there at Starbucks, but I can't say I really KNOW him. I mean, how do you ever know if you know anyone? OK, read that when you're stoned and it will seem really deep. I promise. Do you like to... move it, move it? If by "it" you mean furniture, then no. If by it, you mean my body when I'm dancing, then you betcha! Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania goes wild on you? I'll probably just play dead and hope it goes away. It worked on the bear when I was camping in Yosemite. Have you ever cheated playing jacks? I've never played jacks before. How do you cheat? Hold extra jacks in your hand or something? I tried to bounce the ball one time and pick up more than one jack, but I sucked at it, so I quit. I'm wanting in the perseverance area.
