I know it seems lame but I'm having trouble with my Fred. It's just not her and after seeing episodes like "A Hole in the World" I really, really want to see Amy Acker's likeness in it as well as Fred's character and style. It's not a matter of me wanting her to display better or me thinking she's ugly but I just don't feel it, you know? Once I get certain characters I'm relived because there are a number of them I really feel I need but with Fred there's still that longing and I think some justice should be done to her. Of all the Buffyverse figures I believe she's the most in need of a makeover, wouldn't you say? It would be a nice gesture of DST to do something with poor Fred.

My main problem is that Fred and Illyria are out of scale. DST should definitely redo fred, maybe in a 2 pack with wesley. Since they already said there is no plans to do her all over again, not in the near future anyway. And I hope Illyria gets the deluxe treatment.

Cheers, Haeph.

Definitely! The height issue was bad, but it's not just that. One fred was not enough. Here's hoping for:
*Magic Bullet *Lornette *Lab Coat *Waiting in the wings

I agree that we definately need more Fred figures I was really disappointed at what we got. I remember in one of the Ask Diamond Posts, they said that Fred and Illyria were considered different characters and weren't going to be made together. Then they changed thier minds and we only actually got 1 Fred Figure. I wish that they would consider redoing her. There are just so many variant choice. I really want to see:
"There's No Place Like PLRTZ GLRB" Slave Fred "Fredless" Fred "Waiting in the Wings" Fred "The House Always Wins" Lornette Fred "Magic Bullet" Fred "Conviction" Labcoat Fred
It would be perfect for a Series were she could get five figures and Slave Fred could be a show exclusive figure or the could have "Magic Bullet" Fred come with a Jasmine Figure in a 2 pack.

I agree. After seeing how she supposed to look (judging from the ornament) I keep hoping for a better figure, especially from season 5, when she looked astonishing in all of the episodes.

i know!, firsty why choose that outfit!, it makes her look like a 14 year old, the they make her huge *and shouldnt she be quite a small character anyway?, they are doing the same with dawn, in season 5 dawn was smaller than buffy, it was season 6-7 when she grew!!!!, now her and fred look like giants... anyway, the fred i want the most is waiting in the wings fred, that was such a flattering dress, she looked so beautiful in it... lets just pray! tommy xoxo

If nothing else, couldn't they just have the manufacturing place re-do the existing figures but reduce the scale? I recall reading there are many ways to do this (sometimes even the selection of plastics used will result in the final figure shrinking a considerable amount in the cooling (I think) process).
But yes, I agree Fred is the figure in most dire need of a makeover (along with Shells Illyria so a S5 Fred could be made as a variant from her). Illyria really alos needs shrunk a bit, but it's less an issue with her and actually sort of fits her a bit (but ideally she'd be the right size).
What is particularly irksome is that after that whole debacle with Fred, the same thing has apparently been done with Dawn! She is ridiculously tall judging by the pics. I mean there's no way that the relation between her figure and Buffy's is accurate - and even if by some amazing chance it was, DST should still make her figure look like she did in the series! Whatever tricks they used to minimize the height difference, She rarely looked taler than SMG until Season 7 at least. I was just watching Season 7 last night (Showtime) as they are showing on FX, and watched closely as Dawn stood talking to Willow and beside her. Dawn is only *slightly* taller than Willow, and it was only noticeable when she stood right next to her. We're talking maybe Dawn's hairline starts at the absolute top of Willow's head/hair. So an inch or two at most. In season 5 Dawn looked shorter than Buffy. And the pic of the Summers set where Dawn is placed OFF the stand just serves to underscore that even they feel the height diff is ridiculous!
When the set was first announced being delayed, I felt sure it was because of the Fred issue and they wanted to ge these right. Then even when they said it was due to getting the likeness approval, I *stil* had high hopes they'd take the extra time and ensure that the Buffy and Dawn line were as near to perfection as could be possible. Really, only S7 Dawn should be taller than Buffy (and not much at that). As it is, we are apparently getting ALL tall Dawns, whereas I'm sure the majority of fans would rather have had a slightly shorter Season 7 Dawn to make the other Dawns shorter too than this. I just can't understand with the uproar that everyone made over Fred that they'd let this happen again!
I'd really like to hear their reasoning behind this. Either they aren't the fans they claim to be and the attention to details such as this just aren t deemed important, or there's still some major Eff Ups going on between DST and the factory that actually producdes the figures. Either way, this really needs fixed. I seriously would just rather them delay Dawn longer to get her scale right! (Seriously - just bring out an all Buffy wave - not unheard of (like the all Willow wave) and Glory, and keep Dawn (and Joyce) and do a little more redesign on them.
I just read yesterday that the ship date is estimated to be MAY now. Since this is february, surely they have enough time to reduce the scale (i.e no need to resculpt - just modify the manufacturing process so she produced at like 90% or 85% or whatever the heck it should be).
Now, I'm not trying to incite a riot - if anything I really REALLY want this line to do extremely well so DST will keep making Buffy and Angel figures forever! But after the supposedly lackluster sales of the Angel/Fred line (and Fred is hardly a surprise - and many even felt Angel was out of scale, though I personally didn't mind Angel's size at all), I'm afraid if the repeat happens with Dawn (or the 2pack and Boxset - especially given the less than happy reaction to Dawn's size and Joyce's non-Joyce body, etc) then I'm afraid DST will say this is a sign interest in the line is dying and start making plans to halt production. Certainly the quality of the sculpt is important to those buying them. And if Dawn is a hulking giant, many fans will pass and just get Buffy.
DST - if you are reading this - please don't take this the wrong way. I am NOT just a loud mouthed complainer who slams everything you make. On the contrary, I am an absolute fanatic, and have every DST figure produced (if you ever send my Promo SPike that is! <grin>) and want the line to do extremely well and continue indefinitely. But when there are problems, the fans here are qucik to spot them and cry foul. Is there any, any way you can modify Dawn's size in relation to Buffy or is it too late? Has the manufacturing already begun? If it hasn't, let's take a poll and see how many would prefer waiting for a better scale Dawn (but go ahead and release the Buffy's which look great for the most part).

Illyria looks ok, even with the scale issue, she can stand by her own and she have a great likeness with Amy Acker. I didn't buy Fred, she's just too tall for that character, but also Amy isn't very short, she's taller than Charisma for some inches. But the figure overall isn't very skinny and the face was too ugly. I really want magic bullet Fred, that was her shinny moment.

I don't think Dawns hieght issue compairs to Freds. If you look at Dawn compaired to Buffy and Joyce in the picture and then hold up your Fred next to a Willow figure, you'll see that Dawn looks to be more in scale than Fred is. Dawn is just taller, but she doesn't look wider. Fred is just all around bigger. I don't think this is the same issue.

i think that they made a mistake with her and Cordelia both women had many different outfits, and everyone likes them to have one Fred, and three Cordys is crazy 'Magic Bullet' Fred would have been a great figure 'Inside Out' Cordelia would have been a great figure Pylean Fred would have been an amazing figure Higher Power Cordy would have been an amazing figure but instead we have useless Angels and useless Xanders i hope that we get another Fred someday, this one suits for now but not forever

Yes...DST do often seem to pic less iconic looks for characters....
With Fred...
And with Glory...one would think if she was not going to wear the red dress....she would have to have a damn 'Gloryesque' face....but this is not the facial expression I think of when I think of Glory....I think thats what DST should be putting more effort into....

As Ambassador of Glordonia, it's safe to say a fantabulous character like her will be revisited in figure form at some point. But I'm afraid in looking for other options for figures DST will ignore poor Fred and I'm really anxious for her. I mean just look at her.... She's the one Angel always made sure people took care of, she's where all the heart & emotion of the show would lie at times. Granted, it doesn't make for your typical action figure but the Buffyverse isn't your typical....anything. But I wonder if there's something we could do that isn't whiney like a petition but still gets the point across about how much we love Fred and how she needs to be remade. There are so many characters that I think will and should be made like Lilah and Gunn but I just don't want DST to forget Fred in focusing on them cause they kinda still owe us...a little bit. Also, they had better not make Cordelia a giantess to match Fred!

Hmmmm..... Perhaps a Deluxe Fred wave? if it was a 'Big Bad' boxset why would Faith be in it she was a sidekick to a Big Bad if they did do that i hope its Glory (red dress), Adam and Caleb Terribly sorry! Your idea is much better, yes. But a Moyor would be cool.....he could come with Faith in the dress.
