The problem is Illyria, she's the one out of scale. actually my illyria is the exact size of the Wesleys, Lorne's and Angel's so it is not just her - all of the newer ones are the same scale as her. -Take a look at Lorne right next to just rewards spike.

It's true, all of the new ones are the same height. I guess I just try and delusion myself into thinking they're all the way they're supposed to be, so I can enjoy them more. Lmao
But it's true...Illyria, Lorne and Wesley are about the same and Angel is a tiny bit taller, but not much. It could be a DST thing but then that doesn't make any sense either...since DST did Spike all on their own without any MAC sculpts. I would think they'd at least want Spike in scale with the other new ones, since they did full control over him, afterall.

Yeah, I really really wish DST would just come out say "Hey, we made a mistake, sorry everyone" in regards to Fred/Illyria. I personally see no problem with any of the new figures except Fred/Shells Illyria/Illyria (and as stated before, I can even overlook Illyria - but that doesn't mean there's no scale issue). Spike is was shorter than Angel, and it *looks* like Wes, Angel, Spike and Lorne are all more or less either in correct scale or at least close enough not to appear wildly messed up. Indeed, I don't think most action figure lines eve get scale 100% correct, but it's *usually* close enough that it doesn't make EVERYONE gasp with horror at how far off it is. Fred/Illyria are gasp worthy, and as others have said, even her head(s) are too big, her body/arms/legs are simply too big/thick/long. I agree with the poster who said Fred/Illyria is the problem, not Spike or really any of the other figures - at least not to the *extreme* that Fred is (so I'm not saying they are perfect, but not anything wildly out of proportion like Fredikins and Lyrie. :-)
Anyway, the main reason I wish DST would just come out and say "Yep, you're all right, the scale was messed up with Fred and Illyria but will NOT be the new standard, so those of you stressing about Buffy and Dawn, relax - they will be the standard Buffy height they have been, and Dawn - well, Buffy always said that Dawn was taller than her (at least by Season 6 and 7) so if Dawn is taller that is accurate!"
I really don't think we have to worry about Buffy and Dawn - to me, it seems Fred was probably the sort of "afterthought" figure to get the highly popular Illyria made (if anyone has any doubts, then despite this being called an "Angel / Fred Wave", we got 2 Illyria's an one Fred. My guess is Illyria was sculpted first - being the more interesting figure - and then Fred was scaled to Illyria. Obviously no one compared Fred to any of the other female character figures (unless the scale problem occurred in the production phase which, from what I've read, is entirely possible by something as simple as the type of plastic being used - apparently after molding, regular plastic used shrinks quite a bit. Maybe Fred is made from a type that didn't shrink? Maybe the petroleum prices necessitated the move to a cheaper and less shrinky plastic? Yep, I'm reaching here and really I'd think DST would just come out and tell us what happened. It's no secret, we all see it, we've all voiced our displeasure so at this point they could at least let us know this mistake WON'T mess up the future figures in the line which seems to be the truly big concern everyone has now. Sure, I'd like a scaled down Fred more than anything, and ideally Illyria (both versions at that) too, but economics would make this impossible. So, like I said, just ease our mind about the future females (and males for that matter) and let us know what happened, that you definitely view this as a mistake as we do, and that Buffy and Dawn (and Cordy - everyone!) will be in the standard scale, not the Fred scale (who knows, maybe this is the "unforseen delay to the Buffy/Dawn line that is keeping them from the purported Christmas release to Jan/Feb next year. And seeing how off Fred is, I for one will be more than happy to wait if it means we get a correct scaled line (and trust me - me calmly accepting any delay is a major deal for someone as luidcrously impatient as I am). :-)
So come on DST, just let us know it was a one/off issue and won't happen again! (and story-wise. we know Fred is all swelled up from the slug creature in her that's forced her to drink an overabundance of water and severely bloat, while both Illyria's are he/she/it making a modification to her/his/its appearance to refelect the stature of one as high up as Illyria feels it should be. How's that for an "in context" explanation? :-) )

Heh heh - sorry everyone. I know I get carried away on the posting nd always do like novel-length posts. I do apologize and will try to learn to condense things down - I just have so much racing thru my head that I try to get it down before I forget it or something pops up. :-) I will try to be more concise and to the point in the future tho... :-0

Whoa, I didn't realize Fred was THAT tall. I don't mind it on Illyria, but Fred needs to be taken down at least an inch. I only have Angel series 1 Vamp Angel and it looks like she'll be a full head 'n a half taller than him. The new Angel's scale is fine, David B is a tall guy. Fred though? Whoo.

I will buy Cordelia sexy long hair, the problem with the scale could it be a change more than a problem, i don't want to take risks.

FOr those who haven't seen the ask Diamond 32 yet, the Fred/Illyria Scale issue WAS a mistake - not an intentional switch to a new figure size. So we can breathe a sigh of relief - Buffy and Dawn will be okay!!! :-)
