Yes, Angel is larger than previous Angel and Buffy figures. His head is bigger than previous figures, but since he's taller it doesn't look as bad as Fred and Illyria. To me, I can deal with Angel being so large, but Fred and Illyria being nearly as tall as Angel is just wrong.
Again, I don't want to be overly negative as I'm really glad we got Fred and Illyria figures, however the scale issue really needs to be resolved before the Buffy and Dawn wave.
In looking at the prototypes, I can already tell that they (the prototypes at least) are too tall. If the stands used are the same size as the Angel/Illyria wave (which they appear to be), then Dawn will be as tall as (or taller than!) Angel and Buffy will be slightly shorter than Fred. So at least Buffy will be in scale with Dawn, but neither will be anywhere close to the scale as previous releases.
PLEASE fix this DST! I really hope that is the reason for the delay of the Buffy/Dawn wave, and that they will be scaled correctly, and Fred is just a fluke!
Even if it's not fixed for Buffy and Dawn, at least PLEASE go back to the original scale for Xander and Cordelia. If you are planning on moving all future lines to this scale, at least ask us if that's what we want before doing it. Pretty please?

I made my own research with my figures, i take some bad pictures but you can see the scale The first one is Willow with metal gear solid figures, the scale is almost the same. www.geocities.com/mistergoodpizza/01.bmpNow, this is Quake, the are big but still they aren't like the new line of Angel. www.geocities.com/mistergoodpizza/02.bmpThe movie maniacs and terminator III, in my opinion, this is the new scale of the Angel figures, Fred is almost like Norman Bates from Psycho and Angel is almost like Terminator. www.geocities.com/mistergoodpizza/03.bmpNorman and Terminator are in scale 8, Metal Gear on scale 6.5 and Quake are 7.

Actually, I don't think the new Angels are really that out of scale at all. If anything, I think they are probably MORE accurately scaled (in relation tot he tiny female figures) than previous Angels which tend to minimize the difference between Male and Female Stars but if you look on screen they really are little (the girls I mean). Probably had a lot to do with being cast on Buffy as High School kids, or at least I'd think that.
Also, some people have said Spike looks too little compared tot he new Angel. But again, I think the scale is pretty close on to what we see on TV - Spike, compared to Angel, is a shrimp (which he'd have to be since he wasn't much taller than Buffy, or at least didn't seem to be. I've always wondered if they sometimes put actors on little blocks or platforms to make their height more "comptaible" with other stars).
Fred - now there's just no way to justify her. She is, absolutely, 100% out of scale and probably would look the right alongside the Movie Maniacs and TIII Figures. Illyria similarly is out of scale, though being a "monster", many of us are far more willing to overlook her, but really, she should be smaller too.
But as it stands, Fred is absolutely an atrocity, and following in a near tie is Shell's Illyria (for all of us who wanted to make a custom "S5" Fred or even get a rePaint in a box set, the scale thing doesn't totally prevent it, just adds a lot of work to "sand her down" like the customs many of us have made). Illyria, being in boots and being able to modify her appearance is not such a problem in my book, and indeed it seems the majority of posts have been okay with her as the mix of an excellent sculpt and "alienness" sort of give her a "Get out of Scale Jail Free" card. But yeah, Fred and Shells Illyria need production halted at once, the bad scale sent back to China, and them re-doing them at like 80% scale (someone may be able to figure out a more accurate degree of how far they are off as I'm purely guessing, though to me that seems about right).
But anyway MrGoodPizza, yeah, Fred's Bad, Shells Illyria is really just as bad, but the Angels are fine and Illyria slips by by reason of her Ancient Powers. :-)

Oh yeah, one thing I forgot in relation to Spike and Angel's Differences in Height - many of us were already worried about Spike being "too big" as DST has stated the Deluxe versions of Angel and Spike will share many of the same parts (like Buffy and Faith, which wasn't accurate, but close enough that it didn't make so many of us cry fowl like with Fred). So we were already worried about a potential scale problem -just with Spike being too big...

Newton the page of imbd have the size of the actors Spike 5' 11" (1.80 m). Angel 6' 1" (1.85 m). In that case Angel can be taller than Spike. About Illyria, is there a way to low her height in a easy way?.

About Illyria, is there a way to low her height in a easy way?. I don't think so. Especially not without loosing lots of the detail work in the costume.

Know what I find so funny about this? That DST has stated many times that they don't want to stray from the look of the MAC line. Did we miss the episode of Angel when Fred starts to become the 50 Foot Woman?

I've just cancelled my order of Fred, which means I had to cancel the other figures too To be honest though I'd rather pay discount prices than retail for these, they don't seem worth it (except for Illyria of course!).

Exactly, Fred will be in the Sales soon. Shops will be desperate to get rid of her I assure you. I'd rather wait till then.

Quite frankly, I don’t understand why bother spending any money on this figure at all? Unless you’re a completelist or a customizer, there’s no use for this figure.

Well, at least think ourselves lucky that they didn't make 5 Freds. *Shudders* Imagine if they all turned out like that. Possibly the only one that would have worked would have been Lornette Fred. But I guess we'll never know

Who knows...maybe DST would see the bad responses and end up "saving their honor" my making another Fred - much better one.

I just got Angel and Illyria today and quite frankly, I don't think pictures do the figures justice at all. I have Angel, Spike and Illyria together here and, while she might be a -tad- tall, it's nothing major at all and they look fine together. Here's a picture. Spike even looks small in MY picture, but I assure you, he's quite a bit more in scale with the other two in person. He's also standing behind them a bit.

Hmm..maybe we can just swap spike legs for Angel legs to help with the size difference.
Still its annoying. i find it especially tedious that Fred/Illyria is taller than her own base.

Mr. Good Pizza, those are excellent screen cap pictures. They really capture how off the figures are. People have said that Amy Acker is 5'9", but I've been watching the shows carefully. I haven't seen her appear taller than Cordelia. I don't know if Illyria has higher heels than Spike, but they are definitely the same size. There's no way that Illyria or Fred should be as tall or even nearly as tall as Angel, as they are shown. Also, if you put Illyria and Fred next to any other female figures, the heads are much bigger and clearly out of scale. This pick is of a very scaled down custom of Fred, but clearly the head is much bigger than Cordelia's:

It is a shame about the scale, it makes spike look like a 12 year old boy. All I hope is that they make a deleux spike to fit in better so illyria dosn't look so much like a giant

The problem is Illyria, she's the one out of scale.
