DARLA TAKES A BITE OUT OF SAN DIEGO COMIC CON!
At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, plans are well underway for DST to blow fans away with a fantastic lineup of special guests! One such guest will be Buffy/Angel’s Darla, Julie Benz, who will be signing autographs at the DST booth. In honor of her appearance, the long awaited Welcome to the Hellmouth Vampire Darla figure will be available for sale as a San Diego Exclusive!
Featuring a new red paint scheme, the Welcome to the Hellmouth Vampire Darla figure includes 10 points of articulation, two handguns, a wooden cross, dagger, sledgehammer, and a cemetery base as well as blister card packaging. Strictly limited to only 1,500 pieces and debuting on SDCC’s Preview Night for $15, this long-awaited figure belongs in any fan’s collection!
As Darla, Julie Benz appeared in 25 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, making her one of the most popular guest stars of the Whedonverse. She will be signing autographs at the DST booth on Saturday, July 16th from 11:00 – 1:00 and 2:00 – 4:00. Autograph tickets will be on sale for $10; but will be available for only $5 with purchase of the Welcome to the Hellmouth Vampire Darla figure!
With more guests and exclusives still in the works, be sure to check for more updates! Julie Benz is just the first of many guests for San Diego, so watch for more announcements concerning the identity of our other mystery guests. And check back often as we fill in the blanks!

This really f****s me off. International people have been waiting for so long for this figure as well as you guys in the US who can't attend this and DST turn around and bite us in the ass like this, thanks very much!

So, I WAS right with it being a SDCC exclusive...gee...maybe next time some of you should beleive me when I already know things. . .
Anyways, 1,500 isn't *that* small of a quantity...Ill be attending Saturday, so there should be a few left (as I'm sure they will be holding a batch for people to buy and get signed)

I'm really upset by this announcement. I wanted to purchase this figure normally, and now they have to make it a show exclusive. I can never make it to any of the events and it's hard getting the exclusives. This will be one figure that will be on ebay for like $80. I really hope that DST or Time and Space Toys has some of these available.

I f***ing hate convention exclusives. Thanks DST for making her such a limited figure, and making it even harder to come by. It's just as well though, since I haven't bought any of the Spikes or Darlas (except FFL Spike and T-1 Darla)...
Sorry if I sound snippy, but if DST can't even save some of these for the Radical members to order, what was the point of bothering to manufacture this figure? Other than to reward those who live in or were visiting San Diego for the CC, and for those scalpers who are likely to buy them up and sell them on ebay? Ah well.

Okay, now I'm well aware that some people may be disappointed by this announcement. Maybe I'm just being cranky or rude or something but...seriously. Stop with the complaining.
Being disappointed is one thing; constantly bitching about every detail though, whether it be this figure being an exclusive or the way everytime something new is announced it's "Why are they doing this? It should be that...I don't like this...or this...and they should change this to that. Oh and I just hate this character," does nothing.
I'm aware that everyone isn't going to be pleased 100% of the time but it's a lot more pleasant for everyone, yourself included, when people focus on what's positive and what they do like rather than rain on the parade.
For example: rather than be upset, people could see the bright side and say "Gee, we've been wondering about her for months and now it's finally being revealed where she's released at, so at least now I know and don't have to continue to wonder." Of course that's probably unrealistic, but again...it's not even so much this as every other time people complain. I suppose this is just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Arggh I hate when these figures are convention exclusives. It's still pretty cool that they're actually making her though.

This is bittersweet news. I'm very happy that San Diego is finally getting Buffy exclusives since all the other cons are getting stuff. San Diego hasn't had a Buffy exclusive for a while. But I'm sad to hear so many people upset of this because they are unable to get one. Maybe some will show up on the Diamond web store.

Fortunately I have a fabulous friend going who is picking me up all this great stuff, Sideshow and Palz exclusives too. I hope she is offered elsewhere for those who want her.

San Diego hasn't had a Buffy exclusive for a while. SDCC just had the Dark Witch Willow exclusive last year. -CMK That was a raffle prize for fans and a door gift for a breakfast Diamond hosted for vendors. You couldn't go and buy one. You can count the Vamp Angel as an exclusive but this is the first for a Diamond Buffy product.

I'm really, really glad this figure is finally being released. I'm sorry it's a con exclusive, but hopefully it'll be easier for me to chase down than last year's SDCC figure, which I just bought off a board member this week, since it'll be available to everyone who goes to the con. I really wish I could go, but there's no way I can. If DST had announced this a bit earlier, I might have been able to swing it- I'm at least in the right state, even if I'm a couple hundred miles away.
So what I'm hoping now is that we'll see some of these show up at online stores for a reasonable price. (Hey, I can dream, right?)

So, would you rather her be released this way, or never be released? The Darla/Spike line is over. There would be know way to properly distribute this figure unless it goes into a boxset. Id rather get her this way then not (Ill be getting two anyway, so Ill bring 1 back for a trade hopeully)

And I've bought both box sets they've done so far, so I'd probably have bought a box set with this figure in it, too.
