I was chatting on the tag board, and as I posted there, I'm sorry. It's not so much she used an idea I had planned, it's that she beat me to it. None of my work comes anywhere near the old pros on this board. I try to come up with new ideas, and Grave Anya hadn't been done from anywhere I could tell. As far as I'm concerned, it's fine to use that idea I had. I was just upset because I didin't finish Anya before Val did. I always hate to see a custom made shortly after a similair one has been done that is worse. Had I finished first, mine would have been good and Val's would have been better. But now if I post Anya, many people won't even care. As stated earlier in the thread, if the same recipe is used very close together, then the second custom is old news and no one cares. Kenobi it actually gives other people a chance to have a Grave Anya (if your selling it) If they couldn't get Val's. I believe people will comment and give you their opinions on them. Don't doubt yourself.

Since it's inception, I have avoided this thread like the plague. I looked at it a couple of times and was horrified at the ugliness of it all.
I had no idea these recent attacks were going on until Hadley and Val told me about them today.
I'm saddened by them.
I think that we are all sensitive about our art, whatever form that takes. That's understandable. It's important to not demean someone else's art.
I did post comments in every episode thread of Afer's. I did not have any idea I would upset anyone. I wouldn't have done it, if I'd known. I would have just pmed him about it directly.
I also don't think it's fair to put Sidestrike and Afer's work down. If fan fic writers feel that photo stories belong in the art section, that's fine. However, I think that they both create plots and believable dialogue for the characters. The photographic, staging, scenery, and special effects are bonuses.
I'm going to keep avoiding this thread. Personally, I think that little comes from being blunt. That's generally just an excuse to vent and be insensitive. Those two things rarely result in a meeting of the minds and peaceful resolution.
Hadley, I'm certainly relieved that you are going to stay on the board. I'm deeply saddened that Val will not. Bluntness has unnecessary casualties. This board is so much poorer for her loss.

The purpose of this thread is not a "bash _____ thread" This is a thread for people to say exactly what they feel. It's what Matt wanted. The whole time I was wondering what this thread was for, so I read trough all posts.... puhhhh.... What I feel... I really dont know whats going on with Hadley but Im feeling sorry for her and Im glad she dont let anyone bring her down. So I do for buffyville. As for Matt... he always wanted to start something big... Like ... Uh theres someone selling a not rare buffy figure as rare, Chad and him in one house ( wich is never gonna happend ) At first I thought he needs attention...But I think all he want is power! He started arguing that we need more Moderators... that was fun! Especialle then, when he didnt became one.He always want everyone to agree with him and think his post are a worthfull addition to this forum, but to be honest Im tired of this shit and ignore every of his threads and posts, and still asking myself WHY DID HE CAME BACK ?!

So sorry! Guess I had a brain fart or something, I definately should have checked it out before saying anything. Also, I hope it didn't seem I was taking sides or anything...just trying to clarify things (but I don't think I'm very good with saying opinions in type, easy to misinterpret). I'm looking forward to seeing more customs from both you and kenobi . I think I'm gonna share the opinion of Maria and bow out of this thread...shouldn't have stuck my nose here in the first place. I think anything posted here is going to end up being offensive to someone, it's probably better just to stay out of it.

I have a problam... and I am going to be blunt, cause I feel, if I do this in PM, I'll get no where...
SideStrike
Love you! Well, no... but you know, you're a total ass. Yes, yes you are. And I know it hurts, but... Maybe you should stop causing trouble and just play along. We understand that you like things your way, and we know you think your doll show is the BEST thing in the world... But honey, didn't Afer come first?
Okay, I don't want to fight, but you really need to cool down. You've pissed off a few people, like that, erm... Buffy Survivor game, you kind of think you are above the rules and when anyone tries to erm... take you off that throne of yours (which belongs to another) you seem oddly defensive...
This forum is good. Like, super good... But, I don't think you are trying to fit in. You are just making things fester and festering things just build and build and the poof, everythings out... Oh, this is the poof! I'm the Poof! And now things are spilling out...
Okay, I'm needing to throw up now cause... yeah, but take this advice, please... Don't fester things, be nice to people... Don't think your doll show is the best thing in the world, and it REALLY should be in art... I'd like to see it with just the text... now THAT would be fan fiction...
Yes.
Yes it would.

Yikes! I've just read a few pages of this thread and it's given me a headache!
Here are my thoughts on the custom recipe discussion...
Recipe Acknowledgments
Once a custom has been posted on the forum, the recipe is fair game. We encourage the customiser to share the recipe details.
A good recipe is bound to be used again. If the customiser using the recipe is particularly struck by the innovative use of a head or body part, that customiser should make a simple and concise acknowledgment of the idea. No flowers, chocolates or flattery are needed. Just say, for example: "Thanks to Flobbster for the recipe".
You can't really justify using an Anya head (for example) to make an Anya figure as a 'recipe'. It's just common sense. Unusual body recipes are a bit different.
Personally, I would acknowledge a head recipe idea for making a character who doesn't have a sculpt. For instance, JediDoug had the idea to modify an Oz head to make Lindsey. The first time I used this head recipe, I gave credit on my website. The next time, the acknowledgment is established chronologically on my website, so I won't.
It is a personal choice as to how much credit you give to someone. Another example... DST made a fiery orange 'Chosen' Spike. Using this figure to make a more specific version of Spike on fire is not a recipe, it's a given. No recipe credit is necessary.
I made a custom of this figure recently and went to incredible lengths *not* to copy Alyrenee's work. I made a base, added a coat, added a light-up effect and added flames. However, Aly's work was in my mind the whole time, so I felt the need to give her a kudos statement about her setting the standard for painting this figure.
Giving Up Recipe Ideas in Advance
It's not a competition to come up with recipe ideas. However, customisers do feel a certain amount of satisfaction from having fresh ideas. I personally would never state my ideas in advance of showing at least in-progress photos of a custom.
If you've got a new idea, keep it to yourself until you can display your custom. Then let it go and don't be jealous of it. If you had a great idea, it's bound to be copied. If you're lucky, you'll get a dignified note of credit.
