I am still wishing for 'Tales of the Slayers' as a tv series. It could start with a feature length episode about Sineya and the creation of the first slayer as a great introduction to the slayer myth for new viewers. Each week could tell the story of a particular slayer either from the books, graphic novels or even new characters! After about 3 seasons of this we could finish with Fray in another 2 part feature length episode who could continue the run for another season until we end up full circle back to Buffy as the only slayer to live into her 30s+ Imagine the figure collection and merchandise, Guest writers and directors, actors etc. I think it would make great tv, re-boot the series and return Joss to us once more!!!

That sounds like an awesome idea too Sarah! I like the idea about the first slayer Plus, Joss Whedon would have a huge advantage that he didn't have back when Buffy and Angel were being made... We're in 2012 and we've come a long way with a lot of special effects... there are so many possibilities!! I feel bad for Joss... He's had a lot of mini series cut that he's made. Like firefly and dollhouse. They were terribly short. I think it's time he did another vampire related series!! It would get so many viewers seeing as vampires are "in" right now... look at twilight, true blood, the vampire diaries etc. if now is ever a time to do it, it's NOW

Rather than start a new thread I just have a simple question in regards to the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer Movie. Did this movie ever saw a director's cut in the foreign markets? (Sometimes a different version get's released with maybe a few additional minutes that may not have made it into the US version for various reason, but are not limited to outside the US.). It's been awhile sense I saw this movie and I plan on getting a DVD or Blu Ray version of it. Did the Blu Ray Release have more stuff to it as well?

Question should be asked, who would play Buffy?

I have no idea how a Buffy remake would work. I just don't like the idea of new actors players these characters. I don't think I could get behind something like this. I know Buffy has already been over for 10 years but it doesn't seem like it, lol.

I mean it isnt WB fault, it is Sarah Michelle Gellars for not wanting anything to do with Buffy. So in that respect I will still watch it and give it a fair chance, I think it deserves that and that Sarah is a wretched wench!

Well Joss attempted a Buffy the Vampire Slayer animated pilot, which I thought was an awesome idea, but never got picked up. I mean look at the cartoons on Saturday morning, there's nothing good on anymore. Just your reboot of Spiderman, Superman, Batman, TMNT, etc.
Then there's this jump into the comic books and it's expansion of titles now too many to count. Basically focusing on where the television series left off - with Dark Horse doing very very limited motion comic episodes to each issue, which is also now incomplete as well.
smiler's idea about doing a series with different slayers may be a little confusing sense it's not focused on one person and would most likely jump around too much for anyone to follow. As for a Buffy movie I would really like to see one, perhaps done out of continuation from the comics as a stand alone movie. Either actual or animated style and perhaps even CGI like the video games. The other idea was to do a different movie following FRAY also in a continuation to Buffy, but a stand alone title by itself with maybe a cameo of a cast member or two.
But a big part of the movie going forward would fall to the original cast plus Whedon.

It's been shelved. Joss was currently working on other projects and Sarah Michelle Gellar had no interest in doing the movie based on some of the youtube interview videos I've seen. She even commented that it would be stupid to do a Buffy movie without Joss. You can youtube it and see some of those interviews still on there.
So it looks like just the comicbooks for now to get your Buffy fix.

Thinking who would be the new Buffy. I am thinking. What would Buffy be like if she was a black woman?

For Sarah to say that "It'd be stupid to do a Buffy movie without Joss" is so hypocritical its unreal.

Why would you say that Dev? Not too sure what you mean by that, but I get what she is saying when Joss is the series creator and doing it without him would be totally unfitting because he's the originator and anyone else doing another Buffy would just be that - another pale imitation with the same brand name.

I said that because she doesn't want anything to do with with Buffy so she cant play the saint and defend Joss she is as wrong as the people who dont want Joss in it.

Just because she doesn't want anything to do with Buffy, doesn't mean she can't defend Joss and say what everyone else thinks on the subject. Joss created Buffy, and Buffy wouldn't be anything without Joss.

Even if Sarah would do her role again as Buffy, I would not be that interested. We must recall, that Sarah was not the first Buffy -- she was the second. Think we know that movie from 1994. We need a new woman to be Buffy, and then move into a new series for a younger group of fans. But, it should be on Syfy only as they would be the ones with the big bucks to make it right.

Thinking who would be the new Buffy. I am thinking. What would Buffy be like if she was a black woman? Then it wouldn't be Buffy... Buffy's race and even hair color are important to the character's roots. She is a blonde valley girl coming from a privileged background. That is essential to her growth as a character. I'm all for a black slayer, or another slayer of any ethnicity, but there is no reason to change the character of Buffy to such an extent as to change her race or ethnicity. If a new actress is ever brought on to play Buffy, then she needs to be caucasian and willing to wear her hair blonde for the role. Personally, I'm all for a Tales of the Slayer series. There could be everything from single episodes to multiple episodes to tell bigger stories. Some stories could be calling stories, some could come in the middle of the slayers legacy, others could show the death of the slayer...and some could cover all three areas. It would be epic and every evolving. I don't think it would be confusing, the great thing is new viewers could come on at any time any season and not need to know anything more than the basic premise and lore of the Slayer Mythology.

Buffy is like Star Trek. It's too valuable a franchise to kill off, and they'll reboot it when the time is right.
