Didn't anyone go see it yet?
I went to the midnight showing. Honestly, the story line was pretty close to the book, so they changed a few details and added some things, but it was basically the same. It was a little cheesie, but considering the target audience, the humor made sense being there. Acting was ok....Edward and Bella were good. I think the casting overall was perfect, especially the main characters. Just like I imagined them.
Alice was so cool, she should have had more of a presence like the other minor characters but i think they would have had scenes not been cut out. She even looked like a ballerina when she was jumping onto people and twisting their heads off. The graphic-ness actually surprised me a little. I loved jaspers little awkwardness, hehe.
My favorite scenes: (first) The baseball game, it was so much fun. I could have just watched that over and over. I loved Rosalies comment about Emmett "Thats my litttle monkey man"
(Second) OMG, Carlisle biting Edward.....HELL YEAH ^o^
So what'd y'all think?

Welp, hate to be a downer. I think the books ruled and the movie drooled (basically saying it was horrible)!

I am seeing the movie tomorrow.
CC, can you be a bit more specific in your description? What did you not like about the movie?
I have heard very mixed reviews. I think people aren't liking it because they go in with high expectations. It isn't going to be exactly like the book. I see movies and books as two different things. If you don't do that, then you can't enjoy something that may actually be great.

I didn't like how immature the whole thing seemed. It was sorta directed to a (pre-teen to teen) younger audience. Both the Books and this Movies' target audience are pre-teens and teens. Stephanie Meyer has mentioned that the books are generated towards a younger audience, So if you really think about it the whole idea behind the mythos is kind of juvenile, just like the Harry Potter series. Its not really the movies fault when the material it is based off of is something corny and immature in the first place. Now if it was The Host by Stephanie Meyer that was being turned into a movie, I would expect way more since it is generated towards adults. Most people who dislike the movie (or at least the ones I've heard from) didn't like it because it was either juvenile or not close enough to the book. But Just like what was mentioned earlier, you can't go in with high expectations, like its some Spielberg film, because you are gonna be let down. Books can never perfectly be made into a movie because they are books in the first place. Thats why they are written as books. I think with the Twilight movie they captured the spirit of the books and thats what counts.

Great, I don't care what you think. I still say it was too immature and the books weren't. Dude, you're totally skating on thin ice, my comments weren't rude just informative. If you can't post a civil argument, you shouldn't post. I'm thinking your comment was a little ironic considering your maturity level, I'm not sure you know what mature really means.

Moderator Note
Cordelia Crazy, the "Don't care what you think" comment is out of order. You should all be able to post different opinions without ragging on one another. You can disagree without being rude. Also be aware that you are picking a fight with a Watcher on this forum. Not a good idea.
Movie
I'm 41. I enjoyed the "Twilight" book, but there were times that I was very aware that it was written for teens. The second book was better, the third was great, and the forth was just terrific. Couldn't put 3 or 4 down.
I'm hoping the first movie does well so that they green-light the sequels. Those really expand on the characters, and would probably be more mature movies.
The movie doesn't come out in the UK until 21st December, but I'm looking forward to seeing it. I intend to make custom figures for the characters, if the NECA toy line proves to be good quality.

Great, I don't care what you think. I still say it was too immature and the books weren't. Yeah like Insanity said the books and the movie were directed toward a younger audience, but I am much older but I was able to enjoy both the movies and the books. Also Sasha if you make twilight customs I bet they will be great

I'm hoping the first movie does well so that they green-light the sequels. Those really expand on the characters, and would probably be more mature movies. From Perezhilton.com: Twilight fanatics got a very special email from book author Stephanie Meyer and film star Robert Pattinson today, Saturday. They announced that the movie studio wants to move forward with a follow-up to the Twilight flick, which experts say will definitely be this weekend's #1 movie! To all of our wonderful, loyal and fantastic fans -
Thank you from the entire cast & crew for your amazing support of Twilight. You've blown away all of our expectations, and we feel so honored to have made a film that means as much to you as it does to us.
Without your passion, interaction and support, this film would not be where it is today — the #1 movie in America!
From every city, every stop, every interview we have done, you've made this an unbelievable, nearly surreal experience…and so cool that we were all in this together.
We just heard from Summit that we'll be moving forward on New Moon. We look forward to sharing this next chapter with you!
Kristen & Rob

Saw it 3 times in 2 days and planning on going again. I am 23 and LOVED the books. Read them all within a week. Then reread them all in another. There is something amazing there that speaks to people of all ages. I really liked the movie. I wish the meadow scene was a little closer to the book, and that we got to see more of Alice, but they had to cut some stuff out and change it a little to make it a movie. That happens. But at least we got a movie!! And overall it was much how I had pictured it when I was reading. Yay for New Moon!!! I literally started dancing around when Summit announced that yesterday!

I saw the movie today! FANTASTIC!
I felt it was a bit rushed, but I love what they did with it! OMFG! I loved it so much. I can't wait to see it again!
Also, Twilight is something that is supposed to be fun. Please don't be rude to each other in here. Thanks!

I can't wait till the DVD comes out so we can have an extended version. I can tell they did some major film editing because a lot of the scenes that have been in previews or sneaks weren't in the movie. I hope they put them in an extended version!

i am anxiously awaiting the UK release of Twilight! I'm going the day after it comes out with my best friend, who has never read the books, so i'm hoping it will be at least a decent attempt at visualising the books!

I've just come back from the States where I was visiting friends for Thanksgiving.
I saw the Twilight movie and I loved it! I'd read a few iffy reviews, and my friend who was a book fan didn't like what they did.
I went in with low expectations. I did think the first 20 minutes was a bit slow and the direction was sometimes unsubtle. Then it just took off.
It seems pretty universal that everyone liked Kristen's work. She was great. I thought Robert just nailed it as well. The chemistry between them was great. I really want to watch them again. I had quite a crush on him by the time the film finished.
The rest of the Cullens were just OK for me. I suppose no-one is going to look as stunning as they are described in the books (although Edward was pretty much prefect). Those that were dyed blonde didn't look right to me. Especially Nikki Reed. She's an attractive brunette actress but doesn't cut it for me as a gorgeous blonde. She looked wrong. They should have cast a natural blonde.
Alice grew on me (the actress was very graceful) and Jasper finally looked cool in the baseball scene. That scene was very well done. The vamp-fast-motion thing and sound-effects worked a treat. In fact all the Cullens popped in the baseball scene.
The villains were good. Very strong visually. In fact the whole movie was a visual treat. Great song/score as well. I'm going to buy the soundtrack.
Loved Charlie. He has some nice moments of humour.
Although he was in a small role here, I thought Taylor (the guy playing Jacob) was suitably charismatic and cute, which bodes really well for the sequels. Can't wait!
The screenplay was cleverly constructed. For the sake of time, they merged some ideas/scenes into each other, but it was seemless. It made complete sense.

I feel the exact same way with almost everything you said. Except I think Nikki looks better blonde, but just my opinion.
