Soooo... I went to see the movie on Sat. loved every single minute of it! I had never read the books, but all my friends and everyone around me was talking about it. I went in hoping I would really like it a lot, and I came out with it being my All-Time favorite movie! I have had the same favorite movie for years now, but this one beat it... I loved each and every character, I loved the way the vampires carried themselves, and I loved the Bella character. I am however not sure about jacob... I like the actor I think, but his long hair was driving me nuts, and I just did not see him as a good thing...
Since seeing the movie, I have gone once again with other friends, and started reading the books... I decided to just go on with the story reading book 2 first since I know most of the major plot points thanks to the movie. I finished book 2 in three days and am now on book 3... I have never in my life enjoyed reading a book of that length in that short of time. This however I could just not stop reading. I Have to say book two had some points that were hard to get through being that I am not the biggest fan of Jacob.. Towards the middle and end however it drew me in making me stay up into the late hours wondering what in the heck was going to happen next! Damn that chase scene!!!
Book 3 is very interesting to me... I love that the vampires (Cullins) and in the book much. I am also very interested the the Rosalie character... I of course love them all though.
I am wondering though, from the description of Jacob in the book how that is going to turn out for the 2nd movie. I think his size was mentioned a lot in the book, and the actor who portrayed him was definitely not of large size. Then hearing of how he grew for the 3rd book! I am not saying it will not work, I am just wondering how the director will attack this.
So I cant wait to keep reading book 3, and am about to continue now! Just wanted to put some of my thoughts down! Especially since I have not posted in a long time!!!

NEW MOON UPDATE:
Cathrine Hardwicke (director of Twilight) will NOT be directing New Moon. She and Summit could not agree on a schedule, so they let her go. New Moon will be directed by Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass).
New Moon is set for a November 20, 2009 release date. Its budget is $50 million...$24 million is going to Robert and Kristen for their portrayals as Edward and Bella.
There has been talk that they will be letting Taylor (Jacob) go and finding someone better to replace him with. I personally do NOT think that is a good idea. Changing the face of Jacob will leave most people extremely confused and unhappy.
That is all the news for now. Will update in the next few days.

Thanks a lot for the news, D! So, I think it's great we're getting a new director. I mean, Cathrine did an ok job in my opinion, but I didn't like how she tried to make the whole filming style seem "cult". I mean, it's clearly not a cult book, and I think her approach was a bit too much "13-ish", with the shaky, "unprofessional" camera work. Anyways, I'm really glad she's gone.
As for Jake, I think they should let Sharkboy stay lol I mean, changing characters is never good, unless it's extremely necessary, IMO.
Oh, and I am REALLY glad they are not making us wait more than a year for the release of a new movie ;D

oh jesus no....
I have yet to see Twilight but to bring in the director of the golden compass for new moon...wtf.
The golden compass was like a crash course in bad unimaginative directing.
Well New Moon is gonna suck ass now.

I'd be very surprised if they could release New Moon as soon as November 2009. I thought the actors had committments to other projects for the next few months, before they could start on the sequel. Don't you mean they are due to start filming in November 2009?

Iv heard that a lot of new moon invovles Bella being mopey and very un pro-active so i personally think they should bring in sofia coppola to direct New Moon.
she handles teen angst etc perfectly as seen in virgin suicides along with strange romances as lost in translation and can do the bigger budjets seen with marie antionette. So all in all I think sofia coppola would be a great choice for directr for newmoon. I think they wil be making a massive mistake getting chris weitz.

Well New Moon is gonna suck ass now. I didn't watch the Golden Compass, so I wouldn't know. But, who knows, maybe the approach is different. Good different, perhaps? I'm not a big fan of Catharine's' direction to this franchise (Twilight Saga). At all.

I liked the Golden Compass...but I didn't read the book...so maybe that is why. I am very mad they are getting rid of Taylor. I think he is so amazing!

I heard that it is all rumors in regards to Taylor. He is listed as Jacob still. Kinda like the whole Robert is dead rumor a few weeks back. I kinda liked Taylor. Not much is seen of him, but he fits with how I pictured Jacob...but how the heck are they going to make him 'big' Jacob??!! New director wrote a letter to fans stating he is going to keep the book's essence, etc etc. Stephenie is actually vouching for him, as he directed one of her favorites: About a Boy. She writes to the fans too on her site: stepheniemeyer.com/ However, he did the american pie movies. this causes me to worry, but I trust Stephenie and the actors/actresses to keep the feel of the books, regardless of the directing.....gotta have hope, ya know>?? Dementor: it's good to know someone else on here is as obsessed as I am. Every time I actually have the time to post updates, you already have!! lol.

me too. I just read that Cathrine clashed with the actors (Rob in particular) about their two-cents on how to do certain scenes and Stephenie and her argued about sticking more closely to the book for the New Moon movie. As of now, still no official word on Taylor...he hasn't been officially named Jacob, but then again, Rob and Kristen haven't been officially named either, though they are already contracted for the sequels, etc.

According to entertainment Weekly, the management of Taylor are talking to some animation studio to show what a "Digitally buffed up" Jacob would look like... Thats going to take a lot of digital animation to make a 5"4 guy grow to 6'7"! I can't see it... Although I like the actor, so who knows!
As far as the release date, that is so soon! How do u make a movie that fast! Hope it is just as good... Even though this is my least favorite of the books...

Taylor has been working out since twilight stopped filming and has gained 19lbs of muscle and is promising 10 more. Also, think about hagrid in harry potter. he really isn't huge. It's all camera tricks... Taylor met with new direct dave today to talk about his role....my fingers are crossed, though I am all team edward. I like the actor and hate when they switch actors mid-series!!
