An interesting blog entry at Art Asylum (DST) today (Nov 11, 2008): www.artasylum.com/blog/2008/11/resistance-is-futile/#more-340DSTJen says "The first assortment will include the Half Borg, Borg Drone, 7 of 9 Borg and a 7 of 9 Borg exclusive." This is interesting because this is the first I've heard of there being a " Half Borg" in the assortment -- I haven't seen any pics of such a figure before so this may be something new. Second bit of good news is the fact that the Borg Queen is NOT part of this assortment, which I HOPE means that they got the feedback about how ugly, droopy, and just plain BAD the entire sculpt for the Borg Queen was -- and maybe they're working on making it into the snake-like, sexy Borg Queen we all know and love. Third bit of interest is that there's an exclusive version of 7 of 9. I suspect it may just be different accessories, but we'll see. I no longer collect Star Trek figures -- I'd collected the Enterprise figures but had no interest in the rest -- but I will get a Borg or two if they look good.

I'd imagine the exlcusive Seven of Nine is as she appeared in the episode 'The Gift', when they were starting to take away her implants (not those ones...the other ones!!) ;D Playmates version of borgified Seven is the half-Borg version from 'the Gift'. You can sorta see her in the back row here: It is most likely they took the Borg Queen out of this set so they could use her to anchor the second set. I doubt they would be re-working her head. Seven

A human Seven & a Starfleet Officer have been added to the Borg wave: I can't believe DST fu**ed up my Nemesis Beverly Crusher, how could they give her the wrong hair??? Accurate hair from the proto & the production samples (which I bought): The final piece with the season 7 hairstyle thrown on: Not Fu**ing happy DST, not at all.

I'm glad they are making a De-Borged 7 of 9 but the likness to Jeri Ryan is week. Her neck also looks strange as though it was orginally for the silver catsuit with high collar.

The "Half Borg" looks terrible! Did they use a photo reference or just stick some random bits on and call it a day?
Maybe some better pics will show it in a better light.
Of this wave, if it ever comes out, I will get the Borgified Seven, and maybe the male drone...
I'm still hoping the Borg Queen will be resculpted to make her pretty.

DST are a hack company.
They do some nice things, but in general if your hopes are high you will only be disappointed.
Their sculptors are quite terrible sometimes (Kirk, Wesley) & they don't seem to do any production checks, so if someting has gone wrong in that regard, it is just too bad for us.
DST have stated they don't care if their work is below par, their basic business strategy is that people will buy their products due to the name alone & look past the poor quality.

But I bet they phrased that differently!

So the verdict is in on the Nemesis Beverly mix-up, and as usual DST's response is "Oops! Tough luck!"
What the hell? No wonder this company's product usually comes out wrong - they don't pay any attention! A stage of product approval was skipped and NO ONE at the company noticed or cared enough to say anything?
This is absolutely insulting, and DST's response is even more so. This is one instance where they should make good to fans. We know the tooling exists for the right hair piece (which is wasted money at this point). They should make the factory issue a run of the correct piece and then mail that out to people who want a replacement. This wouldn't fix the problem, but it would go a hell of a long way to making up for it. MOC-ers are screwed, but those that display can display her as she was originally shown two years ago.
Mezco did this recently with the Hellboy II Wink figure, so I'm thinking DST should really make up for this problem. And if the production run is so small, then the price shouldn't be too bad. All it needs is plastic put into the mold and painted, then shipped in a tiny container and people can scalp their Beverlys as they like. If the first Beverly figure is any indication, customers might do a better job of putting the hair on right anyway.
And they wonder why their presale orders suck!

I wonder if the extra curls on the hair can be sanded off and repainted. I don't know what material the hair is so I do not know if it will respond to sanding or not, but, I wonder.

DST have stated they are also pissed about Beverly.
They saw the packaged pics a day before we did. They said they called the factory straight away but all the figures had already been assembled & packaged.
DST say it was the factories fault as they missed one of the stages of sending samples back to them & they figured an small errors would be fixable, but this was no small error.
JP, I just posted your idea on the Trek forums, about sending out the hair seperately. Though I just don't think DST care enough to do anything like that. Can you tell me the details of what Mezco did with Wink & I will ask DST.

I didn't participate in the Mezco Wink thing, but from what I understand the design of Wink changed and the figure that went into production had the old style sculpt. When this was realized Mezco and/or Universal put in a mail-in for a replacement head that matched the final movie.
If you want the complete and accurate story I'd ask over on the Raving Toy Maniac boards (www.toymania.com). Someone there probably knows the story way more accurately than I do.
Star Trek isn't a big topic over there, but this is such a stupid situation I'm sure people would love to chime in.

So, it looks like the new Locutus is the old Locutus but with a new head, and new neck/upper-chest/shoulder-pad armor -- more tightly fitting than the wide "football uniform" style original. (New Locutus, above) The new neck/shoulder-pad unit looks like the one from the film: whereas the original looked a bit more like the one from the tv show: I am not sure if I will trade up. Although the original Locutus was a bit wide, it matches the earlier series of Borg (the Borg wave from many years ago, that looked -- again -- like a football team). And I sort of liked that artistic license. On the other hand, First Contact was the best Trek film, so... tough decision. (old Locutus, above)

I don't think I can be bothered buying a second Locutus....though he;s kinda cool.
People are receiving their TNG wave 5 & DS9 wave 2 now. I wish I had pre-ordered with someone!
I can't believe TNG5 is finally here! 2 years is a long delay.

Playmates have shown an image of their upcoming 6" Star Trek line: Can't say I'm too impressed. The shirt looks odd & Chris Pine is blonde, not a redhead.

Comment on TrekMovie.com are all saying, basically, "whats up with wooly jumper man?" and "looks like his mom knitted his tunic".
I'm glad I'm not planning on liking the new movie enough to buy figures for it, or I'd be disappointed.

Apparently DST thought Nurse Ogawa looked too short on the Troi body, so they have given the final figure the Beverly body! Troi's mold looked fine IMO. She is going to look huge on the Crusher body. *sigh* ** Actually she has the Troi torso & the Crusher legs, so her legs look bizarrely long.

Hello one and all,
I'm a recent convert to the Deep Space Nine (DS9) series and I was considering tracking down the action figures released by DST, but I'm having trouble finding a list of everything released by DST in respect of the DS9 series (although DST's website does provide some help).
Is the following a correct list of everything that has been released:
- Sisko - DS9 Series 1 (grey uniform), "Tribbles" (TOS) variant, Sisko and Chair (black uniform).
- Kira Nerys - DS9 Series 2 (exclusive) (grey uniform).
- Odo - DS9 Series 1 (yellow uniform).
- Bashir - DS9 Series 2 (grey uniform), "Tribbles" (TOS) variant.
- Jazdia Dax - DS9 Series 1 (grey uniform), "Tribbles" (TOS) variant.
- Ezri Dax - DS9 Series 1 (exclusive) (grey uniform).
- Worf - No DS9 (grey uniform) single release.
- O'Brien - DS9 Series 2 (grey uniform), "Tribbles" (TOS) variant.
- Quark - Not released.
Figure packs:
- Sisko, Jazdia Dax and Ezri Dax three-pack (grey uniforms).
- Sisko (black uniform) and Dukat two-pack.
- Worf (black uniform) and Gowron two-pack.
- Bashir, O'Brien and Martok three-pack (grey uniforms).
- Bashir, O'Brien, Matrok and Kira Nerys four-pack (grey uniforms).
***
Is that everything? Also, which "uniforms" are the most standard/common for someone looking to create a single-uniform line-up. It would appear that most characters have been released in the "grey uniforms" except for Worf (unless I missed that figure or the character never appeared in the "grey" uniform).
Many thanks for any help.
Cheers.
