I got lucky today, and stumbled on a whole lotta Indy figures. I picked up quite a few, but decided to start with reviewing the three deluxe two packs based on Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Cairo Indy and Ark are pretty sweet, but Marion got hit with the ugly stick. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but lucky for her some comes packed with a pretty good Cairo Henchman, keeping the score for the two pack from going south. You can find all the reviews a the usual: www.mwctoys.comThanks for reading, and have a great weekend! And look for more Indy reviews next week! Michael MWC

I'll have to hit some store tomorrow morning and see if any Indy stuff went out. I preordered some of the single carded figures from HTS a while back, so hopefully those ship out soon...
Somehow, I see collectors ending up with numerous versions of Indy from each film, just as Star Wars collectors end up with multiple Anakins or Vaders. Both a blessing and a curse, since multiples work well with having multiple displays featuring major characters.

Man, these figures are going to be very hard to refuse. I forgot all about that Indy w/ Ark, so there's another ten bucks I'll be spending in this next week.

I haven't found any more Indy figures since last Thursday, but tonight I'm checking out two of the 12" figures I picked up that day. There are actually five different 12" figures in this first wave, broken up into two assortments. One assortment has Talking Indy, Whipping Indy, Mutt, and the German Soldier (those are the four I found). The other assortment swaps the German for a Cairo Swordsman. I'm looking at the two Indy's first, whipping action and talking action. Keep in mind that these are only $20, which considering the probable cost of the license and the quality of the accessories and outfits, is pretty amazing. Don't get me wrong, they still have some serious issues, especially the talking Indy. But if you're looking for great Indy sixth scale figures for your kids to get them indoctrinated to the scale, at least the whipping version will fit the bill. Thanks for the reviews of the 12 inchers... I was thinking about getting one of the Indys, considering my only other option was a Sideshow Indy (still might go that route). I've tried to shy away from 12" figures since I tend to go completist crazy and buy all my favorite characters, main characters, etc. You mentioned the likeness of the talking Indy... I think it looks a bit like Robin Williams In the pic with Indy holding the idol in both hands, he almost looks like the father from The Wonder Years ;D Also, I finally realized how you incorporated the review's date into each review page Like the customized 12" Indy guest review was done on June 23, 2003 (and presumably the second review posted that day).

It's a sixth scale night, at least at MROTW. I have my review up of the DC Direct deluxe 13" Green Arrow, a figure that's a real disappointment. Why? Because he's almost perfect...almost...and then there's those damn bendy hands. Normally I don't abuse a figure for a single issue this much, but it's so critical that Green Arrow be able to hold his bow and arrows well - and that you don't end up going gray trying to do get him in a decent pose. The guest review from Jeff Parker looks at two new Hot Toys POTC figures - Will Turner and Cannibal Jack! He has his usual great review and photos for us. Over at QSE, I break the 12" pattern with a review of a couple Primeval figures. Fans of the BBC show should check out this line by Character Online. The summer movie figures have started to hit, now that the May 1st street date is here. You can expect a ton of reviews from me over the next couple weeks on several of these major properties (as well as some other goodies that just happen to be hitting right now!). Tonight I'm looking at the two main figures from the Incredible Hulk series - regular Hulk and Abomination. No, this isn't the Abomination that most Hulk fans know, but he has some interesting aspects. In fact, if you're looking for a Hulk figure to go with the smaller 5" movie figures from films like Batman Begins, Spider-Man or Superman Returns, this is the line to check out. These won't knock your socks off, but they have some value in certain situations. You can find the review at the usual: www.mwctoys.comThanks for reading, have a terrific weekend - and go see Iron Man! Michael MWC

Yeah, I saw these in a store the other day. Hasbro really knows how to piss off collectors by messing with their Marvel figures' scale. I regret buying a 'black' suited Spider-Man and Venom in that scale, and will never buy them again.

It's hard to believe just how many big summer movies are hitting - I reviewed the release date list, and every weekend from this last weekend until the end of July has a major flick hitting. And most of the toys are already here, from Indy to Hulk and even Wall-E! Tonight I'm checking out a couple of the regular release Dark Knight figures. I suspect these will be the only two regular release figures I check out. Yea, they aren't anything to get too excited about. If you're a serious completist, you might want to check it them out, but otherwise I'd stick with the Movie Masterpiece line. You can find all the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comThanks for reading - and if you haven't seen Iron Man yet, do it now! It rocks...seriously. Michael MWC

I found the Movie Masterpiece figures the other day. Pretty cool figures, but a little overpriced for lacking super articulation. I did pick up the unmasked Batman, though.

I hit up the two 12” Indiana Jones figures last week, and tonight I’m covering the two most folks are going to be interested in hearing more about – the German Soldier and the Cairo Swordsman. Why? Because with the release of other high quality Indys, lots of folks will be hoping for some bad guys to square off against them, at least until Medicom or Sideshow produce a few. Will either of these two fill the bill? One can, but the other one has too many issues to recommend him, even for the kids. Over at Quick Stop, I have a review up of the new (as in I haven’t even seen them on the pegs yet) Mcfarlane line Warriors of the Zodiac. This first series covers Aries, Cancer, Gemini and Taurus, the first four Zodiac signs. You can find the links to the reviews at the usual: www.mwctoys.comThanks for reading! Michael MWC

"They were clearly outsourcing this work to the drunken clumsy lemurs." Ah yes, the drunken clumsy lemurs. I believe DST use them for their Trek line. The Swordsman is a very cool figure. It is a real shame they didn't attempt a new head for the German, as he is otherwise a very good figure. Thanks for the review Michael.

While we've all been focused on the movie toys tied to the many blockbuster summer flicks hitting, we've forgotten that there are other lines out there as well. Hitting pegs very soon is two lines from Mcfarlane, and I'm covering the Legend of the Blade Hunters tonight. Earlier this week, I covered the new Warriors of the Zodiac line at QSE, and you can find links for both at the usual: www.mwctoys.comThanks for reading, and have a fun weekend! Michael MWC
