shivi writes: lets talk about ... science ;D (not leather! evil Eva)Please don't say the L-word around me, it makes me nervous (inside joke from the Tag) which technique do you prefer ? MALDI or ESI ?!You know it depends on what product I'm testing. MALDI, for me, gives me a little more information for being such a basic instrument. ESI, I find, is very useful for it's specific application to look at the structure of the molecule. MALDI is a little more generic in the sense it just gives me a size of my molecule, which is what most of the time we are looking at to assure conjugation happened in the process. But I guess you can look at a SDS gel for that too. But to be honest, my sample prep for each assay wasn't the cleanest, a lot of repeating happened for me did you ever had to explain how the MALDI technique works to a colleague who did not understand even after the 10th time you explained ?Is this a sign of shivi being inpatient with someone. Something that I thought was impossible. Just kidding. But I know what you mean about trying to explain to people and do not understand. People learn one of three ways: sight, sound, and touch. I could be teaching a class full of people who like to learn hands on but my presentation is a visual base training. I've changed the way I train now so I explain using all three concepts but this leads into your next question. what do you like about working at QA ? and what not ?I really like helping and educating people. I work with people who are fairly new to Good Manufacturing Practices. These practices are put in place by our government to assure the manufacturing of drug products do not harm the people taking them. I like seeing people improve at their work after I have trained them or helped with developing their process/assays. What I don't like are the people who refuse to change and rather choose to repeat their mistakes. As part of QA, we have to trend the number of errors/deviations a department makes. When there is a high number, we provide guidance to the department of placing safeguards into their process. Some believe the end result is all we need but the government is looking to see how we got from point A to point B rather than the end, which many see is the only thing important. do you like the FDA ? They have been a big help to my company when it comes giving us fast track status of our drug. But to be honest with, I'm scared out of my mind for the Pre-Approval Inspection. QA has large responsibility with the inspection, I don't know if I can handle it. do you want to work in Mass Spectrometry again some day ?I don't think so. I really think QA is my calling, If I couldn't work in QA anymore, then I would like to do process development. Plus, my sampling technique for MS was so bad. Those tubes were just to small for a normal person to work with. do you think its weird that I gave my MALDI-TOF-TOF a name ?!Not at all. At my 2nd company we worked for, we named all of the HP LC after fictional characters. The instruments tend to work better if your treat like a person rather than a machine

I just finished watching the X-Games on ABC Sports and they now have rally as one of the sports. This is great to see rally getting so mainstream exposure.

cmk1887 asks: What's your favorite part of BtVSFigs? My favorite part is the vast amount of information available on this site. That's why I became a member. This site was getting all the latest updates on releases, knew who were the next characters to be made into figures, convention information. This all comes from the great people we have as members of this forum. Everyone is so willing to share information with others.
What's your least favorite part of BtVSFigs? The search engine is not that easy to use. Whenever I need to find an old topic, I try to use it but then it comes back saying that topic doesn't exist yet I know I saw it two weeks ago. The rules of the board is not really clear to everyone too. It seems to me that I learn about some rule due to incidents that happen instead of knowing the rule upfront.
What are some things you'd like to see improve on the forum? The maintenance of the threads. Our rule states that you can not bump old threads so people have to start new ones which means you can have multiple threads of the same subject. Threads that are really outdated should be removed. I can only imagine that these outdated threads are taking up memory space.
What are some new things you'd like to see that the forum hasn't had yet? There not much really. Everything I would like to see is just a 'nice to have' and not really needed. One thing that might make it easier is that we could include attachments in PMs but that doesn't stop us from really using our PM system. It's just a nice to have.
Have you been checking out Survivor: The Hellmouth? Yes, I have been reading the public thread and to be honest, I'm really sadden from the amount of fighting the game has caused.

Ouijarick asks: --What number am I thinking THIS time? I've got it! 42.83...am I close this time?
--Out of the Buffyverse figures that you own, which is your favourite? For some odd reason, Light Blue Jacket Buffy 1 from MAC is one of my favorites. I guess it is because I really like the color scheme. The next favorite would be End of Days Buffy from the Deluxe series. Great packaging and the likeness to SMG is uncanny. That's one of the figures that I have seen where the likeness is spot on to the person.
--Do you collect other action figure lines? I don't collect per say due to issues with having space for them. But if there is a favorite character of mine made into a figure and it is made well, I will pick it up. I have a few from Justice League Unlimited, the Batman, a ton of Happy Meal toys and a bit of HeroClix. The HeroClix are not action figures but they do make a lot of random characters that are not popular enough to get made into a figure.
--If so, what is your favourite figure from them/it? Right now, I'm listing my Bat Girl from the Batman. She's to scale with the other figures, the shade of purple on her is a perfect match to the show's coloring. The reason why I wanted this figure so much was her character on the show. She's a bit of a smart alec on the show, always has a good laugh for me.
--Is their any signed figure that you want more than any other? (In and out of the Buffyverse figures) Right now I need the other half of my the Gift two pack signed by Michelle Trachtenberg. I would like to wait until the new Faiths come out and get one of those signed. I have 2 Deluxe Faiths signed by Eliza Dushku, but come on, those figures don't even look like her.
--Do you collect the ornaments? If not, did you ever consider them? I purchased 3 so far, human Spike, Season 2 Buffy and Faith. When I ordered them, they were kind of on the expensive side but I found out that I had paid retail price for them. I have been thinking about collecting them instead of the busts. They're smaller and cheaper than the bust so I could get more. I'm trying to think of a nice way of displaying them in my room before I commit to purchasing. Knowing me, I'll try to get every single one out there so I have to think about how much room I make for them.
--What about the Sideshow figures/dolls? For Sideshow, I collect my favorites and the SDCC exclusives. These are a lot easier to collect since they only make a few each year. I'm really happy with the new Angel line and the Giles except for the glasses. I wish they had kept using the photos pictures of the actors for the boxes. I always like the Sideshow booth at cons and they are always nice to their customers and fans. I got to talking to one of their workers since she was a Buffy/Angel fan too. We talked so long that she forgot she was at work LOL. I did drop a hint to her about fans wanting Doyle.
--Were you upset about not getting all those Series 3 Palz that we were shown the concept art of? Yes, I was so saddened from this news. I really liked how PALz was willing to make the B-Characters of the show, like Jenny Calendar and the Mayor (human and snake form). I was hoping to see a bit of many other characters besides the Scoobies. Their Faith was really great and at that time, was the best likeness of Eliza.

gerry asks:
With the inclusion of the xgames, do you think that focus of racing is going to go from a team sport (crew, navigator, etc) to a driver only focus? This was the first time for me watching rally racing and they had both a driver and navigator. The commentators did a great job of explaining both roles and how it is a partnership in order to win. The winner of the race was Travis Pastrana, who is a real famous MotoX Freestyle rider. He said in a interview that he was turning his focus to rally racing. Like what Danica Patrick did for the IRL, I'm hoping to see Travis bring rally into everyone's household and help make it more mainstream and keep the traditional format of rally.
Last Chance: Pretend I asked you a question that you wanted somebody to ask, but didn't think to ask. What would that question be? Would you answer it? What would the answer be? Gosh, I don't think I have a general question to answer this question with. I usually have specific questions to the person in the HotSeat and like to keep the question general enough that every reader gains information from it. But I would like to know if people thought Buffy was telling the truth to Spike when she told him that she loved him on the Hellmouth.
As a scientist, do you think that there could be other lifeforms in the galaxy that are based off something rather than carbon, like silicon? If there were, would we be able to recognize them as life? There could be lifeforms out there but I think we need to focus on the people here first. The lifeforms may not be carbon based but I think it either has to be one of the basic four: Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen or Carbon. At least that is what my organic chemistry professor taught me. He's holding up pretty well so I think I can count on him for teaching something somewhat true.

x-esques asks:
Are you a coffee drinker? I drink the Frapacinos from Starbucks. I have to drink my coffee mixed like that because I find them too strong in taste for me and it hurts my stomach if it is not watered down like those mixed drinks. I need caffeine so it's normal catching me with a diet soda in my hands in the morning.
What is the class you remember most from school? In High School, I liked my government class. The teacher was great really a lot of fun and allowed us to debate with him on the text and current issues. He is the father of a classmate, so we also got to hear stories about her growing up. In college, it would have to be my industrial psych class. There was a bunch of engineering students in there and all of us hated the stereotyping the professor did about engineers and scientist. She always said they had the worse personalities and are introverts, which was the exact polar opposite of many of the people I know and work with. Shivi is a kick ass scientist and do you think she has no personality or is an introvert. Yeah, I didn't think so either.
Do you ever go to the beach? I'm kind of far from the beach and I don't know how to swim so a day at the beach for me would be wasteful. I'm an urban girl, museums and shopping malls.
Have your parents ever seen Buffy? Did they make any comments? LOL, I used to watch Buffy upstairs by myself and they would get the TV downstairs. Later on, I realized that they were watching Buffy too. I made sure to watch ever week but if they ever missed in episode, my mother would ask me what she missed. As a typical mother, she did criticize SMG for being too skinny.

shivi writes: which color do you think did I painted my room ? I'm thinking something of an earthy tone, like tope or mushroom. You probably like something other than white but needs to match with other things very easily. Anything thing besides black and white. do you have an Aquarium there in Stockton ?No, we don't but there are two very nice ones in California. One at the San Francisco Academy www.calacademy.org/aquarium/ and at Monterey Bay www.mbayaq.org/. if so how often did you visited it ?I do have koi fish in my backyard if that counts. did you made any plans for your future when you was little (like when you want to get married or so) ?Graduate college before 22, own a BMW by 25, own my home by 30, married by 34 and then the children will follow. I missed the boat on the BMW because I changed my mind. I heard a lot of bad things from BMW owners. how many pairs of flip flops do you have and what colors are they ?No flip flops but I have 3 pairs of soccer/football sandals. One purple, gray, and the newest pair is black and tan.
