shivi writes: omg its my sweet little Eva I got questions for you honey1) do you like being an ABC ?Hehe, for those reading this: ABC stands for American Born Chinese. I got to say it is tough because you are pulled by both cultures of being Chinese and living in America. A lot of people find it extremely strange that my family lives in my house yet I do not charge them rent. Or how I gave money to my brother and sister-in-law to purchase their home and do not expect to be paid back. That's just part of the values we have been taught from the Chinese culture that a family shares everything and how close everyone stays to home until they are ready to start their own family. I am also put down a lot by those who have immigrated from China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan. They feel that we ABCs have lost touch with our roots. I don't agree with that at all, it's really based on how your parents raised you. My family has always celebrated both Chinese and American holidays and always taught us the meaning behind each holiday and why it is celebrated. We speak both Chinese and English at home and with other family members. So yeah, it's tough because you are caught in the middle of both cultures. 2) did you ever had a chinese boyfriend ?LOL, no actually I never had. My brother never had any Chinese girlfriends either and my sister's boyfriend is half Chinese but that has been the only one who is Chinese from those she has dated. 3) which chinese word is the most important for me to know ?Hmmm, that's a tough one because everything is written as kanji characters. If I can find the non-character translation for restroom for you, I will let you know 4) are you still a member of this crazy shoe club ??!!Why yes I am but I haven't been a very good member as I have not purchased shoes in 6 months. 5) do you believe in god ?This is a tough question since I have a science background and was taught about the Big Bang theory and evaluation and grew up in a traditional Chinese family. Many far east religions are based on teachings of philosophy of self development. I often ask this question myself and could never come up with an answer. I'm still looking. 6) if so, what kind of god is it ?A fair, understanding being. 7) if this god would offer you to be reborn as an animal, which one would you like to be ?I just looked on the web about animal symbols and it said that a seahorse represents confidence and grace. So in my next life, I would like to be a seahorse to have characteristics that I do not have now. 8) if you ever visit germany will you visit me ?!I do want to visit Germany. I want to see all the castles and churches and mountains and artwork and shivis there. I would love to visit you. You will have to help me and point out all the cool sights to see and what food to eat. 9) what did you had for lunch today ?It's still morning right now but my company is having our annual picnic. I think there will be BBQ today. 10) did you killed your co worker in the last 4 weeks when I was absent ? It wasn't one co-worker, but more like a handful of them LOL. Oh I was soooooooo close but I thought of how disappointed you would be when I told you I killed them so I stopped myself ;D 11) which name would you have given to yourself ?I don't know. Eva is nice and short and easy to spell. I sign so many documents for work, I'm glad I have a short name. 12) why didn't you told me that you signed up for the hot seat ? LOL, I didn't sign up. I was on the Tag one day with Second Evil and Justhad and was cornered into getting into the HotSeat They both asked so nicely that I couldn't say no and now I'm here. I hope people are enjoying this as much as I am

If you woke up one day and forgot one of your friend's birthday was the day before, would you admit that you forgot and or try to play it like you tried to get a hold of them but couldn't?
How many generations has your family been in the US?
Do you follow or have an opinion on Chinese politics?
I live close to the i-5, and I used to live close to i-80. Are you the geographical melding on my present and past self?

Girl Power writes: EVA! I'm so sorry that I've been neglecting you!
I chat with you all the time, so don't think to come over here.
Questions! No worries there Maria. Thank you for your questions.
Where did you go to college? A small public school in southern California: University of California at Riverside
What did you major in? Biochemical engineering
What were your favorite classes? Bio-processing, my internships I did with a pharmaceutical company totally got me ready for this class and it was a class of 3 people. All of us ended up with the same grades, I wonder why LOL.
What were your favorite classes outside of your major? I did like Industrial Psychology, it was a class about the work environment: how people react to each other in relationships of manager and direct reports and peer is your group and other groups.
Did you live at home? In the dorms? In an apartment? I lived in the dorms all 4 years because the school paid for it and I had no car. It was better that way or else I would have been sleeping in the labs instead of a bed.
When did you invite your parents to move into your house? Here's the funny story. Me and my sister were going to buy a house together and move away from the house she purchased that our parents and us lived in. Once the papers were signed and they started building the house itself, my mother just assumed they came along, not realizing they were suppose to stay. What can I say, my mom is like a child, she wanted to play with the new toy and joined us. This is a typical Chinese set up, you don't leave the nest until you are ready to build your own.
Where does your sister live? Is she married? Sister is with us until her and her boyfriend finalize their plans. Both of them work in the Bay Area of California and want to find a house before getting engaged to assure they have a place to live after the wedding.
How long has your brother been married? 5 years married but was dating for 6 years before making it official.
You told me that you and your sister commute to the Bay Area for work every day. Does she work at the same company where you do? No, we have never worked in the same company. When I first started working, we did have similar jobs: she a biochemist in research and I a biochemical engineer in development. Recently, we are doing other jobs in the same field: her in bio-informatics and me in quality assurance.
What's your favorite place in the Bay Area? What's your favorite restaurant there? Do you ever go to Berkeley? What's you favorite restaurant there? Have you ever been to Raleighs? The Blue Nile Ethiopian restaurant? Zachary's deep dish pizza? Those are my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. I like Aya Sushi and Joe's Philly Cheese steaks in San Carlos, Stacks in Redwood City, any L&L Hawaiian BBQ and Chico's Tacos in Mt. View.
When did your parents immigrate from China? How did they get visas to the US? Were they from a big Chinese city or from a rural area? What do they do for work in the US? Did they become citizens? Do they speak fluent English now? Did you have to translate English for them were you were a child? How has Chinese culture influenced the woman you've become? Do they pressure you to get married? I ask because my stepdad constantly pressures my stepsister to find a husband. I don't know all the exact years for them. It's kind of a weird story for my father because he, his father and uncle left China to escape the Communisms that was beginning. They fled to Cuba and lived there for about 12 years before he came to that States and started the American dream. He went back to Hong Kong for a while and met my mother. My mother's family moved from China to Hong Kong for the same reasons, she was less than 1 at the time. Both grew up in rural China. My father speaks English since he is a waiter for a Chinese restaurant and my mother works seasonal agricultural work. Both are citizens from naturalization. I do translate for them if we are at the doctors but my father takes care of my mother very well and she can get around herself on day to day things. It's the doctors or dentists that can be tough for them due to all the medical terms but even I have a hard time understanding doctors too. My parents have raised to meet the challenge of everything, work hard, help others, care for others, and try your best because that's all you can do. It's totally shaped me for who I am today.
Do you want to have children some day? Why or why not? If so, how many? I would like to have one boy and one girl, but it's so difficult these days to raise children due to cost and worries about crime, etc. I totally applauded all those with children now. It's amazing to see people raise great kids in this world we live in today.
What's the funnest thing you've ever done? I can't remember any right now. I try to entertain during my group meetings at work but sometimes the boss doesn't like my brand of humor ;D
What celebrities have you met at the SDCC? Do you have to pay for your own hotel room when you work Comic Con? Do you share a room with others? What's your favorite thing that working at Comic Con has allowed you to do or see? I've met the two Coreys, Amber Benson, Julie Benz, Danny Strong, Tom Lenk, Adam Busch, Nicholas Brendon, George Hertzberg, James Leary, Camden Toy, Mark Lutz, Clare Kramer, Seth Green, and Robia LaMorte. All expect for Seth Green and the Coreys have been met by standing in line with all the attendees. Seth and the Coreys I met due to work duties, I had to escort them from one place to their next location. All but maybe 10 people you see as Comic Con staff are volunteers for the weekend. The 10 paid people work for Comic Con as a profession. They are the directors who ask the professionals to come speak at programs, ask retailers to sell, etc. Being a part of the Con just shows me how much work is put in backstage to have a good show for the attendees.
How many staff members work Comic Con? Have most of them worked past cons? Do you get paid for that job, or is it just voluntary? Who's the nicest celebrity you've met there or anywhere? I work in the Programming department, we get the movie and TV studios to promote new things, and writers and artist to speak at the con during the panels and make sure they start and end on time and that people are safe. There is roughly 20 of us that are all volunteers. The nicest has to be Amber Benson since she remembers me every time we see each other. The first time we met, she said she knew me and kept insisting that she did. The next year I saw her, she remembered me. Next to her has to be Julie Benz, she was sooooo nice, chatted with everyone and she really made you feel like you mattered in her eyes.
Do you like animals? What is your favorite animal? Have you ever had a pet? Why don't you have one now? The family has had a few dogs but my mother always gave them away to her friends because they were a single person living by themselves and felt the dog could keep them company. Right now, none of us have the time to really spend with a pet.
If you were more adventurous, what kinds of adventures would you like to have? Travel? Extreme sports? Dancing on tables at night clubs? X-Treme sports! I would love to learn that freestyle BMX stuff.
OK, I think that's enough questions for now.
Thanks for asking.

gerry asks: If you woke up one day and forgot one of your friend's birthday was the day before, would you admit that you forgot and or try to play it like you tried to get a hold of them but couldn't? I would admit that I forgot, but it is rare that I would forget a friends birthday. Most of the time I'm withing the range of a being off 1-2 days. Unlike them who are always wrong about my birthday LOL.
How many generations has your family been in the US? Just 2, my parents settled in and had the us, the kids.
Do you follow or have an opinion on Chinese politics? I follow but don't try to have an opinion. It's different over there from what is shown on American TV or written in the history books. My parents say you really have to be there to understand it, just watching the news is not giving you the complete story. I don't want to talk politics with others because it just makes people uncomfortable around each other.
I live close to the i-5, and I used to live close to i-80. Are you the geographical melding on my present and past self? LOL, close. If you stay on I-5 and keep going south from Washington into California, you will reach the off-ramp I live by.

shivi asks: what do you like about yourself ?My work ethics, no matter how hard or how much time is needed, if asked to do something, I will complete the task. and what don't you like about yourself ?My weight and that's my fault really. I used to be so active until university and I've just gotten lazy about my weight. I will be working on lowering my weight now. did anyone ever said to you that he / she hates you ?I don't hate was used but people do dislike me at work for the position I am in. No body ever likes quality assurance LOL. I have heard people say I suck. if you would be reborn as a plant which one would it be ?Does an bamboo plant count? Strong yet is flexible to its conditions. what do you think was before the big bang I'm not sure, maybe hyper active molecules. We know from physics that everything has to come from something. if an alien would ask you to come with it to visit its planet but you would never be able to get home again, would you go ? Yikes! What a question. I would have to say no. I couldn't do that to my parents. They freak even when I'm away for the weekend. Could you imagine them if I left?? LMAO

Girl Power asks:
So when is your birthday? July 18
Do you like living with you parents? How do you get along with them? I like living with them. The house is big enough where we could not see each other all day. My hours are so crazy with the commute and work that I get home at dinner time, shower, a little Internet, and then sleep, wake up, drive, work, drive, and repeat Monday - Friday. My parents work on the weekends so I don't see them then either.
You seem like a very devoted daughter. Did you ever have a period where you rebelled against your parents? No not at all. I've always been involved with either sports or community service and keeping my grades up. Never really had time to rebel.
Are you fluent in Chinese? I speak and understand conversational Chinese but I can't read if my life depended on it.
What's your favorite episode of Buffy ever? Why? OMWF because that was the ep when I became a full time Buffy fan. But I like Hush because of the strong acting the cast did and the Gentlemen.
Who are your favorite Buffy and Angel characters? Buffy and Spike from BTVS, and from watching the DVDs, I like Fred and Lorne from Angel.
How did you find the board? Why did you decide to join it? I was searching to purchase an autographed Dru from Metro Entertainment and Google came up with this site as part of the results. I was a lurker for a while before becoming a member. I decided to join b/c I saw the great up to date news about the figures and wanted to be a part of the scoop.

I missed your birthday! I'm so sorry!
Did you have a good birthday?
What did you do for your birthday?
What was the best part of your birthday?
Did you get any good presents?
What was your favorite birthday? Was it when you were a kid? Did you have parties with kids and cakes and everything when you were a kid?
What was your least favorite birthday? Was it recent or a long time ago?
What are you passionate about in life? What makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning?
What do you value you most in your life?
What gives life meaning to you? Do you think that meaning is something we bring to life, or do you have spiritual beliefs about life having a bigger meaning?
When you are about to die, what will you have hoped you had done with your life? What will you want your life to be like to feel that you lived your life well?

Girl Power writes: I missed your birthday! I'm so sorry! It's ok, it wasn't listed on the home page. I don't know how to get it up there. Did you have a good birthday? I turned a big one this year, 30, but no fireworks or anything. A very attention needing manger from another department is a few days from mine but makes her department celebrate her birthday for a whole week. I get over shadowed by her. But it was busy as SDCC was the same week and I was stressed about that than turning 30 What did you do for your birthday? The family went out to dinner, I'm not one for big to do's for my birthday What was the best part of your birthday?Usually a nice dinner of my choice with family and then another time with my close friends. Did you get any good presents?I don't get presents because I usually have everything I need LOL. What was your favorite birthday? Was it when you were a kid? Did you have parties with kids and cakes and everything when you were a kid?My mother has to work during the summer season due to the type of job she has. I remember one birthday party at age 7 with lots of family and friends but cakes and dinner the other times. What was your least favorite birthday? Was it recent or a long time ago?It had to be my 16th birthday. During my high school summers, I was in a program called Upward Bound for inner city students who wanted to attend college, etc. We attended the Upward Bound Olympics and I participated in the essay and speech contest. One of the judges was my "camp counselor" and specially told me that she purposely gave me a low score b/c she didn't want to play favorites even though my work was good. So I didn't win because of her scores. To top it off, on the way back to my room, my key fell off the cheap key ring and went down the elevator shaft and I had to pay for the replacement key out of my own pocket. What are you passionate about in life? What makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning?I really do love my job and feel I was born to do it. The best part of my life is helping to make others learn and look good at their job. What do you value you most in your life?Happiness. What gives life meaning to you? Do you think that meaning is something we bring to life, or do you have spiritual beliefs about life having a bigger meaning? The meaning of life is someone brings to their own life. I answered before that my meaning of life to learn and to become a better person from these learning experiences. When you are about to die, what will you have hoped you had done with your life? What will you want your life to be like to feel that you lived your life well?I really hoped that I was able to put a smile on everybody's face of whom I have met. It could have been from telling a joke, holding the door open for someone, or etc.

Hey Eva. Wow, now I guess we know so much more about you.
Where else have you been to in the United States? Have you had any fleeting desire to live in a nice place that you have visited?
Ice Cream. Yay or nay?
As I know you are a race fan, do you have a tendency to speed in your car? Do you push to where you may not get a ticket, or lay back and leave the speeding to Danica?
What's on your nightstand next to your bed?
Do you regularly visit any other fan type sites, not including Buffy ones?

Have you had any fleeting desire to live in a nice place that you have visited?I've been to Canada, Mexico, and Japan. I'm not a worldly traveler which I would like to do but, ugh, ever single boss has had problems with me taking more than a week off at a time. They think that once I leave I will enjoy it too much and not come back Ice Cream. Yay or nay?YAY! and YAY! Rocky Road, Phish Food are my favorites. As I know you are a race fan, do you have a tendency to speed in your car? Do you push to where you may not get a ticket, or lay back and leave the speeding to Danica? I totally speed in fact I got my first speeding ticket in June. I was caught driving 78mph in a 65mph zone and my ticket was $139! Traffic school here I come. I was caught another time but the officer was yelling at me for following his orders and realized it and then let me go with a warning. He was probably scared of a lawsuit. After I got my ticket, I said to myself: I hope Danica would be proud ;D What's on your nightstand next to your bed?I'm glad you asked what's on it instead of what is in it. There's too much to name what's in it! But what is on it is a set of buttons given to me from a friend who attended Animie Expo, the remote control for the ceiling fan, two alarm clocks, some mail, and some Buffy trading cards that I need to organize. Do you regularly visit any other fan type sites, not including Buffy ones?I read action-figure .com, figures. com, and slayerverse .com. Danica's official website is really good for her fans, she does a lot of fan interaction things

OK, I'll bite. What's IN your nightstand?
What's your favorite book? What's the last book you read?
Have you ever had Ben and Jerry's Fudge Brownie ice cream? How about Half Baked with half Fudge Brownie and half Chocolate Chip Cookie dough?
What's your favorite kind of exercise?
Have you ever had surgery? Have you ever broken a bone?
What were your favorite TV shows when you were a kid? Why did you like them?
What were your favorite cartoons? Did you like the Smurfs? Care Bears? Which Smurf and Care Bears were your favorites?
If you could be a superhero, which one would you be? If you could be a superhero that you made up, what would be your name and superpowers? What would be your back story?

Girl Power asks: OK, I'll bite. What's IN your nightstand? I'm not sure if it is a nightstand of a small dresser. But the fist drawer has odd stuff in it: checkbook, calculator, saving account booklets, passport, push pins, beads, camera, watches, and basic junk. The second drawer has my old prescription glasses, candles, batteries, and some photo albums. The third drawer has a pair of gloves, some sunglasses, and old magazines that I wanted to keep. I'm sure there is more but I'm not at home to check. I'll add more once I get home.
What's your favorite book? What's the last book you read? Favorites are: To Kill A Mocking Bird, The Devil Wears Prada, Catcher in the Rye, The Great Gatsby, I finished reading A Girl's Guide to Fishing and Hunting. I don't think the movie is going to be exactly like the book. From the pics I've seen of Sarah Michelle Gellar filming the movie, I think the screen play was adapted from the book but it doesn't seem to being following the book right now.
Have you ever had Ben and Jerry's Fudge Brownie ice cream? How about Half Baked with half Fudge Brownie and half Chocolate Chip Cookie dough? I don't think I have had any of those flavors except Fudge Brownie. But it was too sweet for me.
What's your favorite kind of exercise? I like playing sports like tennis and basketball. But it's hard because you always need another person to play. I walk in the morning, I should speed it up so I can call it jogging LOL.
Have you ever had surgery? Have you ever broken a bone? I had teeth taken out for my braces if you consider that surgery. Never broken a bone *knock on wood*
What were your favorite TV shows when you were a kid? Why did you like them? I like Golden Girls, the Facts of Life, and one called China Beach. I don't know if a lot of people remember that one or not. Oh and another home called Homefront, that was very short lived.
What were your favorite cartoons? Did you like the Smurfs? Care Bears? Which Smurf and Care Bears were your favorites? I liked Voltron, Duck Tales, The Real Ghostbusters, the Gummy Bears was cute, I like how the bounced to get around and the best one was the Muppet Babies. I actually hated the Smurfs and I don't remember watching the Care Bears.
If you could be a superhero, which one would you be? If you could be a superhero that you made up, what would be your name and superpowers? What would be your back story? I like Zatanna, she's a simple character with a strong power. She casts magic spells by speaking back wards, whatever she says back wards happens. Hmmm, the first question is to think if I want to be human, a mutant, or alien. I like to stay human but inherit super strength like Buffy or the character The Magdalena. I think I will be one of those characters who don't have a code name like Jean Grey. I would like my background story to be simple. I don't what it to say I had a horrible past and now is out to get revenge. I would like to be a calling instead to use my powers for good and not evil.

gerry writes: I remember China Beach, if only for the cute nurses. Wasn't Ricki Lake in that? Yes, she was on a few episodes. A lot of starts have come out of that show that you may be familiar with. I think the most familiar one is Marg Helgenberger who is Catherine Willows on CSI and there was Robert Picardo who is currently on the Stargate shows and was the hologram doctor on Star Trek: Voyager.
I love rally, but can never find it on TV. Do you find it difficult to find events on TV you are interested in? How do you keep up? Yes I do and not having cable doesn't help me. I have to say that the internet has really been a big help with TV staying with the popular stuff. INDYCAR. com, which is the official site of INDY racing have web cast of qualification runs and races if they are being broadcasted only on cable TV, so I get to listen to the race at least instead of waiting for the results to hit the web.
What made you decide to go into hard science rather than i/o pysch? My sister had graduated with her degree in biochemistry and had been working in the industry for sometime prior to me graduating high school. Once I was applying for college, I knew that science was my focus and she then recommended engineering to me. She said from her interviewing candidates for positions in her department that some of the grads did not have the skill set they were looking for with a degree of biology or chemistry. Engineering offered the basic science degree and all the designing aspects of engineering. I could go either direction having a biochemical engineering degree. It was a lot harder to earn but when it came time to look for a job, it made that much easier.
