I took some pictures of the Scythe.
Over all, this is a nice prop, but it is far from perfect. I found several problems with my Scythe.
My impressions are written throughout the post.
SLAYER SCYTHE
I like the packaging. The box has nice graphics, and I like the deep red color.
When I was trying to take pictures, my cat Zoe (aka Gozar the Destroyer) had to come inspect my newest aquisition. She's less than two years old and on the petite side, but she looks huge next to the Scythe.
It is difficult to show the real color of this piece in photos. If you use flash, it makes the red of the blade look bright red, but in more natural light (or in my case a dark room) the blade has a deeper warmer shade. Here are a few different pics.
I took some close up pictures of parts of the Scythe.
This is a picture of the handle to the blade. It was quite nicely done.
But where the blade attaches to the long handle there is a gap that is noticable to the naked eye. It just wasn't seated as snuggly as I would have liked.
One of the bigger flaws is the leather wrapped around the handle. It is sloppy, uneven and they left glue on the handle.
Where I do like the stake, there is a small gap where it attaches to the handle, and the wood looks splintered there. You'll also notice in the picture that the red paint above it is chipping off.
Here are two pictures of the wall mount. Front and Back. It looks nice.
I said earlier that the leather wrapping was one of the biggest flaws, well there is one other.
The red paint application to the blade.
There are a couple of places where the paint has sprayed over onto the silver of the blade. Also the demarcation on the rest of the blade, (between paint and metal) isn't crisp and smooth, but slightly choppy and uneven. (Like when you pull the tape off after painting the molding on your bedroom wall. It's always slightly uneven)
Also, one side of the blade, the paint is finished to a high gloss. On the other side, it gives the appearance of a car that has been waxed, but then someone rubs something across it before it is dry, so the whole side of the paint looks lack luster and streaked. (Very disappointing!)
*Xtinaslayer* The package weighs approximately 9 pounds, and is 38 1/2 inches long, 12 inches wide and 7 inches deep.
I tried to detach the Scythe into seperate pieces, but after a firm twist and pull, I stopped. I don't know if the Scythe can be seperated into different sections, but I was afraid I might break something if it doesn't. I'm sorry I couldn't have been more helpful!
So, in conclusion, what is my final impression?
I don't know yet! I think I'm going to have to live with it for a little while longer.
I may have been a little picky here, but I was really hoping the quality of this piece would have been a little better! I do think it's cool to have the Scythe, and I think it will look great on my wall!
