I hate the new one even more! The new sculpt looks more like Vamp Xander than Willow. Riiight. buffyssolace, I didn't notice your post until now. As I mentioned, I only attacked the MAC figure because I was annoyed about the way Sideshow were being ripped apart. It was a retaliation. I wouldn't go out of my way to start it. I can accept other people's opinions, but I just wish this place wasn't so oozing with negativity. It's really unpleasant. Comments such as the one quoted above are what I'm referring to. That's bias and negativity if ever I saw it. That's not an opinion. No thought went into it. It's a knee-jerk reaction. I actually enjoy criticism which is not simply a derision but is well-thought out. I enjoy reading opinions from people who list the issues they have with something. Meh, I don't know. I can tell I'm overreacting but I guess the thing really ticking me off is the overriding negativity in many threads here. I don't know, maybe I'm just in a weird mood. I apologise. Anyway, it's good to see that most people seem to like the first three figures. I know that I did see some negative comments which I was puzzled by, but it's good to see that most can appreciate just how good they are. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Willow progress. Assumingly it will mainly be her costume now.

I'm sorry about my previous comment, but It's my honest opinion that I like the first prototype way better.

I have to apologise too. I've definitely been overreacting. But it's just that I'm really looking forward to the changes Sideshow will be making to Willow in particular, and it annoys me that people aren't waiting for the final version before voicing such strong opinions. Heh, I guess I do find it hard to accept opinions in this case. But I assure you it is simply because the figure is not completed. Here are some comparison pics. The new sculpt isn't 100% perfect, but it's a lot closer to the 'real' look. It's good enough for a figure, anyway, and I hope that the final costume looks equally good . Hopefully people will agree after seeing those pictures that the portrait is actually quite good.

I think the face looks amazing, I think the main problem people have with the figure is the hair and the body/outfit. I know Sideshow likes for their heads to be able to move, but I'd rather have a good looking figure than one that has a lot of articulation.

I think it could be the angle of the picture, but I think they should work on the hair some more. The gaps you can see in the back make it look odd, and I think it should be maybe a little bit longer and closer to the face. It looks like the hair in the screenshots touches her face more than in the figure pictures.
And the body needs a lot of work like Andrew said. It's just too tall which makes it look too thin.

Im still really liking the figure. The only major beef I have is the thing body. It doesnt go good with the leather. I think they should fill up the body untill the leather is pretty tight on the figures body.

I know Sideshow likes for their heads to be able to move, but I'd rather have a good looking figure than one that has a lot of articulation. I understand where you're coming from. But I think, in most cases, Sideshow is able to do really good job of creating a costume that looks right, and makes the body look good, even despite the limitation to a standard body. I agree that the hair should be more 'dynamic', but I don't know if this is going to change. I can live with it, if it doesn't. I'm really looking forward to seeing Sideshow gradually make the costume work. They can definitely do a good job with the upper-body. I realise the costume in the upper-body closeup isn't perfect in terms of accuracy and fit, but it allows me to see in my mind's eye the fact that Sideshow can do it. The exposed upper-chest isn't distracting at all. I really expected it to be. The only thing I'm really concerned with is her legs and 'posterior' . The legs combined with the current clothing make her look very 'lanky', and unfortunately the body doesn't seem to have an 'arse' (to put it blunty), so the figure isn't as 'full' in that area as it should really be. But, having said that, I have immense faith that Sideshow can pull it off. I don't know if they can use padding or something but I really think they will make the final figure amazing, despite the limitations of their 'standard body'.

This is the kind of discussion I like . We all agree that it's by no means perfect in it's current form, but at least people are pointing out what they think is wrong with it, rather than trashing it outright. .

I think part of the problem is that as the body is so thin, it makes it almost impossible for them to give her a corset like the one on the original costume, as it would make her look even thinner!
And without the corset to draw her waist in, and thus emphasize her bust, things will always look a bit odd and shapeless.

Perhaps they could create a 'padding shirt' that is put on before the corset? I really don't know, but I agree that it's shapeless at the moment. Brant from Sideshow has said that they'll be working on the clothing, and not simply the portrait, so there's definitely some improvement they'll be implementing. What that will be only time will tell.

Hopefully people will agree after seeing those pictures that the portrait is actually quite good. For one thing, I think the hair is too perfect looking. It should be tousled a bit. Not forgetting the fact that it does look odd, since they want that neck articulation that they've kept that "airspace" around her neck. Also, that pic of Vamp Willow from the show isn't the best pic of her. (I noticed that DST or MAC decided to use the same one for the Vamp Will's packaging... ugh.) That pic makes her look like me wearing drag & the Vamp Willow outfit Hopefully Sideshow used a lot of pics as reference for their sculpt, and not just a few bad pics. And I also hope that Sideshow does not feel a strong need to make something so "similar yet different" from what MAC has done (or will do), that they make something look mediocre. Not that I think Sideshow is playing second fiddle to MAC... But MAC had a Vamp Willow planned for a while now... I just wonder when Sideshow had the idea to do their own Vamp Willow. Maybe it was a move on Fox's licensing part... I don't know... really need to get to bed now... urk.
