Tru Calling (TV): 'Not Green or Texas' has some big rumours on a delay in store for the Eliza Dushku series - "It looks like the new Fox show 'Tru Calling' is being pushed back to midseason or spring for a third round of recasting and rewriting. The first few episodes and the pilot are going to be reshot. Fox has told the producers of their other new show 'Still Life' to hurry up and they're starting production two weeks earlier than originally schedule (they're starting filming on September 23). Seems that unless the producers of 'Tru Calling' can quickly retool their show to the satisfaction of the executives at Fox, 'Still Life' will replace 'Tru Calling' and will premiere on October 30th whilst 'Tru Calling' will premiere some time next year as a midseason replacement".
More of fox asking a show to "retool". Remind anyone of Firefly? I just don't get why the Fox execs think they know anything about creating TV shows... Leave it to the creators and the writers, they're the professionals. I'm wondering if there's even a point in watching Tru Calling if it ever airs... this already stinks of Firefly syndrome.

It’s a new series starring Eliza Dushku. She is a girl named Tru, who have special ability to turn (not so willingly) back 24 hours and try to save people. I’ve managed to find a copy of the pilot on the net and quite frankly I didn’t get trilled with the series as it is. I just hope the actual episodes would be better.

The whole first 4 episodes are being trashed and reshot. This obviously shows that FOX is dedicated to this show because they are willing to pay all this money to make sure its as best as it can be. Also why this is a good thing, it will NOT be going against FRIENDS! The final season no less. So better chance of it getting better ratings! Remember, Buffy was a mid-season replacement too, and look where it went! Let's hope Tru Calling gets the same luck

The poured a lot of time and money into Firefly too, so I'm going to remain doubtful. I haven't seen the pilot, so for all I know, it may need work... I'm just not sure the Fox execs are the ones who know what needs to be done. Also why this is a good thing, it will NOT be going against FRIENDS! Now that's definitely a good thing... hopefully they'll change the day of the week it's on too.

Well it's good they are making the show better. They sure are advertising it alot, especially if it doesn't come out until next year. It looks like a really good show.

Wait a sec, does it means that the first season of Tru Calling would be only 12 episodes?

I'd bet that fox would produce all the episodes and just not air them all together. They did that with Futurama... that's why the DVD sets are coming out in Volumes, not seasons... They aired the eps however they felt like it, and the DVDs actually represent the actual season sets.
