Guess who came across a Scythe at a great deal???! I'm so excited to display it on my wall (like, so excited!), but there are a few damaged areas that I would like to repair first, and I'm hoping for some advice before I undertake the repair on my own. All the pictures should be under 600px, if not, I can modify them again, just let me know. I've tried to get as many detailed pictures of the damage as possible: [white scuff marks] [note sure if you can see it, but there is a white scuff mark on the base of the handle, and it is a little rough in texture, like it took a small bang on something] [scuffs on metal, not sure if there is anything I can even do about this] [scrape on the metal from the display peg] [more paint scuffs] [there is a little ding/scratch near the top of the blade, not sure if there is anything I can do about that. It is pretty minor in the larger scheme of things]

look back at wayne's thread or you could ask him. he made one from scratch. if i recall correctly, he had someone apply the red paint though and a blacksmith forged the blade from a mold.
im also thinking automotive paint maybe an answer as well.
how much did it cost you?

Yeah. I'm thinking about using model paint if needed, but I want to try and get the scuff marks off instead of resulting to painting it. I might be a little out of luck for fixing the metal coating, but those parts aren't the most noticeable anyways, except for the funny mark that sits on the face of the blade between the silver and red. I actually bought it in a lot with 15 calendars (all from the same year), and a few packaged action figures that I will probably be posting on the forum soon (If I remember correctly they are: deluxe bad girls Faith, deluxe end of days Faith, chosen Buffy, grave Spike numbered, willow and tara set, the gift Dawn and Glory signed, and a Kendra Palz.) I didn't really want/need the figures, so I was pretty much doing them a favour by buying it all according to them. All together I paid about $400CND because he delivered it to me from the next town over, but if I had to pick it up it would have been $375CND.

thats 352.11 usd, and all that with a scythe is a steal. normally the scythe on ebay goes for 600 usd easy.
try alcohol first or hand sanitizer, sense they are just scuff marks. you can tell if the paint is chipping or if its a scuff mark. adhesive remover is also another good item to use.
hope this helps.

Thanks. I didn't think of rubbing alcohol. The person offered the price first, then didn't communicate for about 5 days, and came back saying they looked up everything on ebay (on ebay.ca there is a scythe for $900USD that is 100% pristine perfect never displayed condition). I told them there was no way they would get that price, and if they sell on ebay they will pay more fees the more money they make (I relayed my own stores of how I sold 30+ loose actions figures after 4 months of ebay listings to someone in Brazil and how I didn't make as much as it seemed because I paid something like $60USD in fees. Ridiculous). I said I would only pay their original price of $400, and they accepted. A little hardball is what it takes to get a deal! My father raised me well I'm quite pleased.

i paid $360 USD and got free shipping. box was worn from storage. otherwise it was fairly good condition.
the majority of the ones i saw afterwards were damaged or broken and ended up costing people more than what i paid. and they were coming from swordsofcreep i believe was there ebay name.
i did get my buffy vamp book damaged from them and repaired it. they are pretty good sellers.
