I sent a custom, it arrived headless. The buyer said it was possible to glue back(not sure how well it looks), but I want to give a refund.
What do you guys usually give, 50%, 100% refund? And as buyers, what do you expect. It was a cheap custom, but I want to be fair. Specially considering shipping from Sweden is a killer.
If it was something I'd ordered from a store, I'd expect 100%.

Wow, sorry to hear about that. Yeah customs are never really safe to ship, especially when your sending it from overseas. The trip is really rough and packaging must be done correctly as to avoid too much movement.
Generally I had this problem before where I ordered an anime figure that came headless too. Generally I had taken the photo and sent it to the seller asking for a replacement sense it was advertised as new and the seller didn't send the box with it and sent it loose. They told me it was an easy fix and to glue it back on. I was kind of upset about that because it was advertised as new and that didn't make up for poor packaging, even though it was bubble wrapped and placed inside an envelope.
Custom are harder to replace. I can offer a few suggestions and see what the buyer would be happy with.
1.) Offer a discount, make sure you cover the cost of material and postage. 2.) Offer a credit to future purchase. 3.) Request buyer to return custom and fix the broken issue, buyer pays postage return (a little more costly sense your shipping it back to the buyer after the fix.).
Rule of thumb is to avoid giving back 100% of the refund because, 1.) it was damaged by carrier so if insurance was not purchased you were not responsible for it. 2.) You did spend time and money on the parts to make the custom, so be sure to cover that cost.

Thing is, I can't recall how well I packed it. Perhaps I was careless, perhaps the mail men were. And since it was so cheap, once I fix my bank issue, I'll be sending it back.
Also, it was a Jess custom I bought on sale. I did sell it for cheap as well.

Honestly, if it was a 15-20$ custom I wouldnt really mind. The buyer obviously got to fix it, also for that price range you dont expect too much. I would include a little goodie when having a deal next time, that should be fine.

Well, I already promised 50%. I asked if it looked ok, and I was hoping to see a pic, but 50% feels better.

Wow thats very obliging to do so. If you keep selling those on ebay I would suggest to add to the item description that you do not to be liable for any damages that been made during shipping. Of course you gotta make sure to wrap those as good as possible.

Well I posted pictures of my Jess figures and I should you how simple some of the repairs can be. Personally I didn't bother when mine had those kind of damages as I could easily repair them, sense I was a semi-customizer at the time. I wasn't mad or asked for a refund.

Now be it if I had paid so much for a smiler or willowswarlock custom I would have. I really dont appreciate you name those both customizers when discussing how to handle broken custom. Since you never ever had one of their customs in hand Im sure, also both of those are on a professional level and be aware of the fact how fragile a custom made figure is. Never had troubles with any of them both, so no need to name those. Also I like to pay for quality.

I wasn't going to comment in this thread but find myself once again feeling the need to explain my ( and Waynes's work )where our names have been referred to out of context! It is highly misleading to unfamiliar members of this board, to mention us both in a thread dealing with damaged or/and broken customs AND once again Elee you have commented on the prices of our work. You seem to be following my income very closely. Several times my prices have been mentioned in unrelated topics. You even felt the need to make it known on this board how well I did in a recent Ebay auction when it was totally off topic. I do not feel I need to justify and defend my pricing structure. As long as my clients are happy and I know that I have done my best work possible using good quality materials, then I won't worry and neither should you!!!

To be fair I wasn't making a positive or a bad comment to either parties work or value. The discussion was about customs and refunds for broken items. I never said any of your's would break or Waynes. I also did not specify an actual number of what a custom sells for nor did I list a link. I just said it did very well. Also if you use eBay everyone sees the listing not just me. So if you wish to keep things private please let me know and I will remove or edit my post. Also I only use your name and waynes because you produce such high level of customs, but if you think that is a negative I can't help that.

You missed the point again. You took those names and displayed those out of context again, mentioning there prizes again. Dude I have lots of customs from both of them. Best Ive ever seen. Theres days even weeks working time on those. Theres qaulity parts used and detailed bases comming with those. I sometimes do wonder if the prize covers even the parts and material. So whatever they do charge, not your buisness. Keep focusing on your figures instead of giving "how to reach perfection" suggestions to others. Your posts have been very blunt again lately, and I remember allready having a word with you on that subject. Nothing has changed when checking your recent posts.

The thread is unrelated to my work or Wayne's, so why mention it at all. It can be misread through association!! Yes, eBay is a public domain and can be followed by anyone and yet nobody else ever feels the need to comment on my auctions. If I had provided a link to the auction then perhaps, but this time I chose not to. It is not a matter of privacy, it's about courtesy!

I will ask for this thread to be locked since it's served it's purpose.
Thanks elee0031 and bI1 for the advice.

I agree, the post has been modified as to not display names and I will refrain from mentioning customizers hereafter.
