Hey everyone, so I just had some new ideas and would love to know how you feel about it.
Collectors Section/ 6"/ 12"/ Maquettes/Premium Format/ Statues/ Busts/ Merchandise ect...
People do ask a lot about figures, statues and busts, we always have to refer to the Buffy Collectors Club page, and I was thinking why not have our own section? We could posts pictures of the actual bust/figure/statue, even have a little review like on amazon. I always found that very helpfull when buying. Besides that it also would prevent having always the same questions about the same figures all the time, and would probably reduce the bumping of old threads. I could do lions share since having almost all of the busts (ecxept for variants) all the MAC statues, and such.
Also, I was thinking that we could create an extra section like "Members Collections" were each one does have his own individual thread. For example, I do have about 40? customs and could posts more detailed pictures instead of bumping the "Post a pic of your Collection thread" to death. I think this would be nice, especially for our new members since everyone would have a bit of his own personal "private place".
I know theres a "idea thread" from 2008, but didnt feel like bumping that one.
Would love to know what you guys think.

Also would love to have a more detailed view into the Buffy and Angel DVD boxes since there are so many variants and editions all over the world.

I think this can work! We can create a sub forum to the collection section and have each people open a thread and keep updating it with their new additions and reviews. That is a very good idea, Hansi.

Yeah I wanted to mentioned something about that. Alot of the original customs are lost in the archives and when you do a search for one it either comes up with nothing or something that is current. Doing a google search will bring it back to the forums, why did it not show up when searching the form I have no clue.
Probably one of the best way to do it is to make one set official and one set as customs. Then break it down by characters. Every thread will pertain to the character chosen with exception to pair or group figure shots. In the subject/topic section we can refer to which episode or promotion it came from.

I think it would better be sorted by poster - i.e. "Lior Knight's Collection" and within the thread there will be posts with reviews and images.
We have a lot fewer member than there are collectibles and DVDs so having 1 thread per member is easier to sort through than having 1 thread per item.
This would also make it easier to locate the whereabouts of a certain custom one might be looking for.

Wow, those would be a lot of threads for Customs figures only. The Doyle/Wesley/Lorne threads would be empty while the Buffy ones would explode. After a short time these would disapear again, and all we did was doubleposting.
EDIT: I was also wondering if we could update our "Customizers offering comissions" thread, so newer members have a better overview where to go and who to ask when wanting a custom figure. 70% of our customizers arent around anymore.

With the old customizer's being MIA, I would probably lean towards an archive thread based on characters rather than a customizer's thread base. You can look up the character you wanted and select from what season - what episode and you see the customizer that did it.
I personally think it would be much harder to look for let's say for example "Faith from Salvage - custom" then have to go and look into each customizer's thread to find it, and that is if someone had made it. Where as if you click on Buffy customs and the character Faith and scroll through which customs were made for her.
If there isn't alot of customs for a certain character then of course some of us will focus more on customs of that character that is forgotten or lost or not really cared for. The Buffy and Angel verse is quiet big and a lot of characters would make great for customs. It's just what is best way to archive the site's content for easy access.

www.google.at/search?hl=de&q=salvage+faith+custom&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.1355325884,d.Yms&bpcl=39967673&biw=1241&bih=606&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=3oPNUMCDLOKi4gSy4YCQDA Thats still the simplest way to look for things, theres 3 results only from this messageboard. Also dont forget theres a lot of sets thats been made, how would you list them, how would you search for them? You would have to browse just like in the custom section. I doubt that such a detailed archivement would work.

Yes, it is easier to search for a character but its not practical to create a subforum with so many threads (per character) - there are main characters, minor characters, one episode gusts and so on.
As ba1 pointed out, eventually one would have to go through dozen pages in "Buffy" thread to find a custom.
This current idea is to not only list customs but also to review customs and other products related to Buffy/Angel (or any other show for that matter).
For instance, you can use the search option and limit it to that specific sub-forum to look up posts with keywords you want (i.e. "Faith").
BTW, with this idea aside, you can always use Google to search this forum (specifically). Just add "side:btvsfigs.proboards.com" at the beginning of your search and Google will dig up results from this forum alone.
As for customizers offering commissions thread - maybe we should lock it down and get a new one instead.
