Hey guys I was just wondering if any of you feel unwelcome on here at times as a newbie? As a newbie myself sometimes it feels a little intimidating when people tell you off for "bumping" posts and such. When I first joined I naturally had a browse and posted a few comments on posts that were fairly old and all of a sudden there were people seemingly getting annoyed by this? Surely comments of any kind whether it's the praising kind or the constructive criticism kind should be appreciated? Especially when you're a newbie Not only that but when you're a newbie, well... you are new to this forum and even though a post is old to everyone already on here it's new to newbies Don't get me wrong, many people on here have been extremely lovely such as smiler and msbig (as always you guys are nice) but there seems to be the odd one or 2 people with unwelcoming comments sadly Anyway, I hope other newbies haven't had too many experiences like this but if you have feel free to share Take care everyone xXx

I never really got that impression that I wasnt welcome when as a newbie. Sure this board is runned by private people in there short spare-time, putting a lot of work in it. As everywhere else theres rules of course, thats why this place works. I really dont think anyone wanted to insult you, or make you feel uncomfortable. Sure it gets annoying repeating the rules everytime again and again when they are posted right at the top on each section. Its a good thing to have new members and keep the forum alive by posting. I guess you were talking about bumping super old custom figure threads. A lot of the customizers arent active members anymore, so we should focus on the ones who take time and keep us updated with their work. I think you, as a custom newbie will understand that. Anyway, enjoy the board and dont let a little reminder get you down

I was very nervous when I first joined and made loads of mistakes when posting pictures etc because I had zero computer skills! People were really lovely and helped me make banners etc but there were still the odd occasions when I got it wrong and had to be told. Don't take it personally at all. I think the main reason we don't revisit old threads too often is so that the new ones don't get bumped down and not seen. Now and again I don't see a problem with checking them out and posting comments but it just seems to make more sense if the member is still active I guess? Don't be disheartened you will make some great friends on this forum and we would love to see more of your customs as well ! X

I think it's a common feeling of feeling a bit unwelcome when having to be corrected. Just like in school. Then if you don't get a rule right away, and might in fact dislike it, it's easy to forget to follow said rule. So it's quite common what you're feeling. And it could be worse. I've seen normally reasonable people throw a hissy fit when not accepting a rule and leaving, basically slamming the metaphorical door. So it could be worse.

I'm sorry if any of us made you feel unwelcome. You can always contact the mods or admin if you feel a certain comment was unfair or inappropriate.
In most cases its purely constructive criticism and in no way meant to upset you.
In case of bumping old threads - we don't like it because it means something new got bumped off instead. Which isn't fair to other people who post. Just imagine that you've opened a discussion which ended up being bumped off because somebody wanted to comment on some very old and irrelevant topics...won't that annoy you?
If there is a reason to renew an old discussion (new info or such) you can always start a new thread for said discussion. Which I'm sure would attract other people to comment as well.
If you are referring to the Buy/Sell section - then its even more crucial to avoid double listing because everybody deserves a fair chance to have his/her selling/looking for thread to be seen on the first page so if a member creates several threads it will bump off other threads which is unfair to other posters.
So if you start a certain thread for certain parts you can just as easily use "Modify" on the first post and edit it as much as you want. And in order to bump it back just post another reply in that thread.
This would be fair to other people who's post would also remain on top.

I ran into that problem myself of innocently bumping an old thread and that was because I had did a search on the topic and pulled it up to read. When I replied I forgot to go back and look at the date posted. Generally I do look or at least look at the date of the last reply.
But hey if customizing brings fans to the table, what's to complain about? and Newbies generally like to go back and look at older post because that is what draws them to the forums.
I myself google search for custom figures from series that I like and pull up various forums that I don't even belong too. If the custom is deserving of a comment then hey thumbs up!
