Hello ;D I'm a newbie to the buffy forum and to buffy customising as well!! I have some super sculpey on order in the post as we speak and I have paints, tools and other items... BUT... I don't have any figures to customise as of yet! I'm a huge ebay addict so I'm looking for some on there. But could anyone else on here also help me out? I'm mainly gonna be doing some buffy, angel, charmed, lost and roswell custom figures Thank you!

I have lots of fodder that I can let you have to get you started. If you don't mind paying the postage I'll send it to you! Where are you? Just send me a pm with your address and we'll work out how much postage might be ok?

To be honest, customizing is about choosing the right base figure to use. So more than likely you'll end up looking for whole figures that are loose or in a lot. Usually the better looking figures are around $10 + shipping. If your like me and you don't sculpt faces or pant faces then you might want to find something that is close to the project you wish to do. For example I made a Season 3 Prue and a Season 5 Piper and I had to hunt down the original series 1 figures to get the best results in likeness.
I rarely mess around with legs, arms, torso, etc - but I will swap a head here or there. I like to have mobility in my figures.

Hello roadiedendrum, and welcome on the board. Here you can find some of the best customizers around. If you need any information about how to make a custom, how to choose likeness ect. you will find help at The Workshop- Customizing Guide section. Here you can post any questions around customizing. If you look for figures and such is the Magic Box Buy/Sell/Trade section just right. Your final custom can be postet here Jossverse Customized Figures, if they got nothing to do with Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Dollhouse, you can post your work at the Non-Jossverse Customized Figures. Enjoy

Heyy Yeah I'm not too confident with re-sculpting and painting faces like yourself. I'm mainly looking around for the best buffy and charmed figures with the most face likeness but I'll definitely be changing around the bodies to get more likeness in that area Do you have any spare buffy heads that you wouldn't mind selling? I'm really after the end of days buffy figure as the hair and face is pretty decent for most custom figures I'm wanting to make Thank you

The best tool I ever bought for my customising was a 'dremmel'. That way you can cut, slice, sand, drill, polish etc to get your base figure exactly how you want it to look before you even start with Sculpey ! It opened up so many possibilities for me when combining odd body parts together, because I could actually get rid of mis-matched edges and seams at the earliest stage when it wasn't to fragile to rough handle. It made things possible that weren't before with just boiling water and a knife!!

Sorry no Buffy head...or Body to be more exact. The one you are referring to is from the last line with the multiple articulation. I never purchased any of those as they were too odd looking. I'm sure other members may have some Buffy lying around.
Personally I never made a custom Buffy figure...yet, but seeing others customizing her really raise the bar. Good luck dremmeling! (again never used this tool before either, I usually choose a good base body that requires less work - I just do this as a light hobby, not as a person that went to art school, or had training, or worked in sculpting.)

I was thinking like 60/40 cause everyone was pushing out some amazing custom statue like works of art. Maybe they just have more years and experience with the right tools. LOL! here I am with a paint set and a sharp knife with used paint brushes and magic sculpt.

Of course. I remember a time Msbig were afraid of using sculpey. She was very creative and used only paints and materials like leather to modify her figures, and look at her now. Shes one of the most amazing customizers we have on here. Her sculpts are impressive. Can you belive that this was willowswarlocks first buffy custom? This is what he does now: He is the perfect sample, started as little boy who loved handicrafts, and is now working as moulder at Madamme Tussauds. So be patient, listen to advice & cristism and be nice of course, and you can learn a lot of our talented customizers.

Oohh... I just had a look on ebay at a dremmel, I can see why this would help you a lot looks a pretty cool tool!!! thanks and no problem, I'll have to keep looking around for some I had to laugh at some of the comments, kinda reflects me... I'm a little scared of pushing myself to make that first custom figure as I know it's not gonna be perfect... so imperfect it might put me off trying again haha! :L I really hope I can be good enough to be at least happy with my own work that's the main reason I want to start customising
