Hi. I've been asked to make the scene from Hush where Giles is showing his drawings on the projector and the Scoobies are in the audience watching. I've got plenty of time to make this but need help with locating a couple of props for the scene. Can anyone help? Items needed are: screen for projector projector itself Uni images on display around the room etc I don't know if things like this are even available at 1/12th scale? Thanks.

You may be able to do a search online for school dollhouse stuff. I think you are going to end up making the projector. I quite like making my own things and I think it adds another level to your work. I'm thinking if you have the right "junk" pile it should be pretty easy--just time consuming and patience. For the screen I'd use a piece of canvas and glue a cylinder at the bottom. As far as the pictures I think you're better off just pausing the show and making your own pictures. Some Buffy shows had some great close-ups of Uni stuff and you can "print screen" and print it off to scale.

Thanks Jamersy, I think you're right and most of the parts will have to be made from scratch. I like your idea for the screen and i can print off the show like you suggest. Any ideas for lighting - it would be so cool if I could light the projector in some way. Cheers for your suggestions. x

Well, you would need a box (maybe that one from the Buffy Bot) for the top, but cut down some. I would drill a hole on the bottom and on one side. Put a piece of glass or reflective material at an angle between the two holes. You'd have to look at pictures of the top part of an overhead to see what I mean. You would need a larger box that is hollow (for the bottom) and I'm thinking a small light can go inside it so that when it shines up it can reflect through the top part and be reflected out. I'm sure it won't produce any image. For the glass you can try cutting plastic from an action figure plastic carton--then just draw an image on this. You should be able to find a dollhouse cart of some kind that you can sit the overhead on. I have it in my head how I'd make it but it's hard to really say for sure. For the metal pole that holds the top part there are many weapons that I'm sure you can manipulate. I can look through my stockpile of stuff and round up some scraps if you were interested. I'm experimenting with the light thing right now with a piece I'm working on so I am not sure what light you'd use for the overhead...maybe some dollhouse thing? I'd try to get something like an LED light since they are super bright. Good luck. It's so nice to hear other people like to add props to their work! I'm sure it'll be a pain to make but you'd be the first!
