The Winter 2010 Challenge runs from December to end of February. This challenge is to make a pair of characters from any Joss Whedon show. The pair can be doing anything at all but it should envoke some kind of connection... love, hate, rejection, friendship, sorrow, tension, argument, battle, adventure. Rules for Customisers1) You can state your ideas for what you intend to make. You can post in-progress photos, if you like, as well as finished photos. 2) Remember, this challenge is just to give us some unity during this Season. You are still encouraged to produce any custom you like that is un-related to this challenge and post it in its own thread. 3) If you post photos of your custom in this challenge thread, please don't also post it in a separate thread. 4) This challenge will last during the months of December to February only. Please plan to finish your figure by February 28th. 5) You can use any format of custom in this challenge. It can be Mini, Palz, 6", 12" or bust. It can be a single figure or a tableau of several figures. 6) Only photos of 600 pixels wide, or less, are accepted. Rules for Non-CustomisersEveryone is encouraged to comment on the works shown here. This thread is for chatting about the theme, posting photos and sharing ideas but please keep it on topic. GalleryThis is a quick view of completed customs only. Please scroll through the thread for recipes, details, progress photos, multiple angels and reference photos. I'm showing them in the order in which they were completed. MsBig -

Quitting-the-Council Buffy & Giles I made Buffy and Giles for the "Graduation Day - I" episode, where she quits the Watcher's Council, and he backs her up. This was a commission for Annette. ReferenceGiles: "I've nothing to say right now." Buffy: "Wesley, go back to your Council and tell them, until the next Slayer comes along, they can close up shop. I'm not working for them anymore." Parts & SculptJanuary 2011. Thanks to MAC and DST the parts.I used a DST Giles with deluxe Spike arms and a MAC Giles head. I sculpted some extra hair, his shirt, tie, braces and altered his trousers. I used an OMWF Buffy with Willow legs. I sculpted her tied up hair, her hooded top and smoothed over her trousers. I sculpted her folded arms from scratch. PaintGiles is looking at Wesley resolutely, and Buffy is looking mutinous. Buffy and Giles share Angel's mansion house stand. I blocked out the window with black card.

Giles looks great! Love everything about him. But something seems off about Buffy's hair?? Maybe the hairline is up too high, not sure.

[/img]Hi. My first attempt at submitting a custom. This custom is a fantasy scene where Buffy has gone to help Angel in his efforts to save LA. I call it ' Fall for Love. ' I used A dst primevil Buffy head, dst darla body, charmed legs. For Angel, Wolfram dst head, Shaft arms, torso unknown, legs Lost boy ( I think. ) Sorry for the vagueness, I wasn't taking note of bits used during process, I just have a large box of random body parts that I've taken to bits !

Welcome aboard!
That's a really nice diorama. Buffy and Angel both came together very well, I particularly like Buffy's hair and her expression. The mangled Spawn demon is a nice touch too.

This is wonderful work, smiler! Especially for a newbie. Welcome to the forum!
Really great use of parts, lovely expressions and body postures. Great monster on the base. Altogether an excellent diorama.
I'd like to add the image to the gallery but I can't see how to copy the URL. I don't see anything when I hit "Quote" on your post. The way that you've added the image is strange to me. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi guys.Thankyou so much for the wonderful comments, also I appreciate how you are sorting image location for me. I have absolutely no idea how to post it any other way at the moment. I am destined to be the only member of the forum with no banner, logo or clue as to what I'm doing. So hang in there and I will try not to drive you all crazy with my incompetence ! Thanks again.

Yes, I agree, I would like to see what the before paint and after paint look like. I like how Buffy is standing! Did you make the base?

Sasha, this is wonderful - I love it. You have captured the mood beautifully. I love Giles' thoughtful gaze and the calm concentration on Buffy's face. The whole piece is really serene. Great to show the crystals as well, really original idea. Kudos!

Bah- this challenge was my idea but I've taken forever to get anything done. Still, here's my first entry: "Witches Gone Wild" Willow and Amy from "Smashed"Amy is one of my favourite characters (don't ask me why, cos I really don't know) and this challenge was a chance to do another figure of her as well as my first crack at Willow. This sequence from Season 5 where they start using witchcraft for their own amusement in the Bronze seemed like a cool one to recreate. So I gave it my best shot. Amy is made from a FemBot head, Transformation Willow torso, S4 Willow arms and Paige 1 legs. I sculpted her hair, belt, boots and the neckline and slitted-sleeves on her top. I opted to just paint her knee socks after my attempts to sculpt them kept coming out too thick. A fairly simple paint job and I think I retained the likeness quite well. Willow uses a smiley Willow head, Anyanka torso, Mac Buffy2 arms and X-Men movie Rogue legs. I sculpted her hair, her top and the bottom of her trousers. The likeness comes out much better in real life than my camera seems to want to pick up, but watcha gonna do. The base is simply Vamp Xander's with the railing made from part of Leo's cell/cage bars. Here's a closer look to better show the faces off I have another pairing on the go, just need to put the finishing touches on them...

Hi, that's a very good likeness for Amy ( will have to remember this recipe ! ) The pose and paint job is great and they look suitably mischievous! Lovely work. x

Here's twosome number two... Riley & Sam Finn[/u] from "As You Were"Okay, maybe not exactly from "As You Were", in that this isn't a shot or scene from that episode, but it's definitely the Mr & Mrs Finn combat agents that we see in the episode Riley is made from a Serenity Jayne torso, legs and hands, Box-set Wesley arms and a David Beckham head. I removed and sculpted the hair, and sculpted the body armour. Sam is from a box-set Dawn torso and arms, movie Lara Croft legs and a 2-pack Sydney Bristow head. Again I removed and sculpted the hair and sculpted the body armour. I also removed the boots and extended her lower legs, as well as re-sculpting the upper legs where her holsters used to be. I loaded each up with various guns and I think the pose works to show off their bad-assery. I wish i could've got a better quality pic, but that's last-minute-ness for you!

I think both likenesses work really well. I don't think i've ever seen a Sam custom before so I love it that you've chosen these two lovebirds as your double act. The paint is great and I love all their outfit extras. They look good to go! Great - well done.
