:)Hey guys True Blood season 2 has come out on DVD and I was wondering does it follow the plot of the book at all. I really love the show and the books, but I don't have HBO, so I haven't had a chance to watch the second season yet. If anyone could tell me if they followed the plot of the second book or if they created a new plot. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

No, most of season 2 is not from the books. There are two stories in season 2 that run concurrently. In my opinion the Sookie story is good but the Tara story is one I fast-forward through when I rewatch season 2.
Be sure to buy from Target, since the version at Target has a bonus disc of a panel discussion (not Comicon, but some other event with most of the cast). While supplies last of course -- at my local Target they'd sold out of those on Tuesday.

I would say in both Season 1 and Season 2, the A plot involving Sookie is pretty faithful to book 1 and book 2.
The various B plots, one involving Tara, one Jason and one Sam don't follow the first or second book plot lines but are in keeping with the overall arc of the series of books. Some elements are brought forward that can tie in with later books.
The tone of the TV show is much more lurid than the books. I found Season 1 enjoyable but quite jarring. I do think that Season 2 of the TV show is much smoother.
For me Jason's plot line works very well. Tara's makes sense but is dragged out too long.
Another big plus for Season 2 is more of Eric. And the addition of a brand new teen vampire character (not in the books) is great.

Thanks guys, I know that I will enjoy the season since I love the books, but I just wanted to see how close the show follows the book. Thanks again.

I don't have HBO either so last summer I bought and watched S1 and then last weekend I bought and watched S2. Love the show, but I can't watch it when my kids are home. I think I'll see if iTunes has a season pass for Season 3 so I don't have to wait until next summer to watch it.

Yeah, who wants to wait one or two years for the season 3 dvds to come out?
That said, I find it is more pleasurable to save up at least 2 episodes at a time. Otherwise the show feels too short.

I like the storyline for jessica. I really thought she was gonna eat Hoyt at first. I wonder what's gonna happen to Bill? The season finale had me wanting more. *Gasp* oh noes I'm like a V addict. LOLZ, jk I like true blood but not to the point of Stalkerazzi status.
