Scullow, thanks for switching me on to Kim Harrison. I've read the first 3 in the Rachel Morgan series and quickly ordered the rest from Amazon. They're nice thick books, so you feel like you got your money's worth!
It took me a little while to get used to the universe of the first book. Whereas books like Twilight and the Sookie series are very much a human world, with some supernatural interlopers, the Rachel Morgan world is more alien, although set in modern day USA. Once you get used to the rules and idioms of the Witches, Vamps and Pixies, it really sucks you in. Great stories!

I'm glad you're enjoying them Sasha. I thought you would. ;D I only have the one I'm reading & then one more till i finish the series. ![:-[](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png) My rekindled love for reading is costing me a fortune, but I am loving it. I have just ordered a series of Isaac Azimov inspired novels, Robot City, six in the series so that should keep me going for another couple of days & then I will reread the first two Dean Koontz Frankenstein before I start on the newly published third book. Ahh, happy times. Paul. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I got to thinking about this when I got home & realised that I hadn't even balked at the universe change! I think it has to do with the fact that I read a lot of Sci Fi so I am constantly dealing with alien ways of life, so Elves, Pixies, Weres, Vamps & The Turn don't seem that odd to me. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I'm now reading "White Witch, Black Curse" by Kim Harrison. I'm screwed now. Its the last one in the series so Kim needs to pull her finger out and write faster. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Dean Koontz's "Forever Odd". I also just finished Koontz's "Odd Thomas", read it in just over 2 days as I could not put it down. I don't normally read Koontz as his style is too boring and slow, but these two I am surprised at.

I think there are 4 out at the moment plus a graphic novel & I've read them all. Brilliant.

I've been reading the Shardlake series by C. J. Sansom. Excellent stuff! Can't put it down. I'm on Book 4 now.
The Shardlake character is a hunchback lawyer in the time of Henry VIII. You'd think it would be dry stuff, but it's terribly exciting. Shardlake has some serious detective skills and keeps getting drawn into murder mysteries by the powers that be. And has encounters with well-known historical characters like Thomas Cromwell, Richard Rich, the Duke of Norfolk and Thomas Cranmer. The author is a great historian and can really make the characters come to life, as well as writting a cracking mystery.
1) Dissolution 2) Dark Fire 3) Sovereign 4) Revelation
