To answer your questions... This is a very interesting question that I'm going to need a little time to think about. Some opinions from customizers would help...what does everyone else think about this? I think double customs should enter as 2 customs because its 2 figures every figure is unique and special and if someone don't like one figure of the double custom but loves the other he/she can't vote for it

The way you have now split up the 'Likeness' category is the way I intended to suggest. Sorry, if I was unclear. Yes, I always saw Anya as Fred being in the second category.
I think it's a good idea to have 2 categories for Newbie Customisers. 'Best Custom' and 'Best Customiser'. It wouldn't necessarily be the same person to win both. I'd categorize a newbie as anyone who began customising in 2005. Also, if newbies put forward a custom for the best custom category, we'll know to also consider that person in the best customiser category.
As for double figures, I agree that in most categories, they should be considered individually. I do think, however, that they could be put forward as a pair for 'Most Creative Custom'.

I agree with Girl Power. I consider myself new to the customizing bit, and my first forways into customizing were so pitiful that I wouldn't even show them online. Because, as GP pointed out, there's simply no hope of competing with the established "Big Bads" (and I mean that term as one of reverence!!!!) :-) So yeah, that can be *extremely* intimidating to those of us who haven't been doing this for years, to the point that you hold yourself to a standard that very few can meet (and really, I think it's more about the fun of doing it, and making a character you want to see "in the plastic" as it were, rather than *only* being about looking like DST made it. So yeah, I think that's a great idea - those of us who had resigned themselves to merely enjoying getting another chance to show off some hard work may now actually have some hope of placing! :-) Good idea!!! :-)

the "new customizer" category is a great idea because there are a lot new customizers I think (including me)

This is just a question for discussion prehaps for next year or maybe even this one...
But what about a category for the best custom of Buffy herself... And then a scooby main character category?

The thing with customs...and least contests anyways...it often seems that the pretty girls are better recieved than non-pretty girls...and since there are none prettier than buffy...i think you would see more variety in the entries if it were seperated out. For example...I have many scooby customs...but when it comes down to choosing five...there was only one that wasn't of the buffster herself.
Just a thought.

I can definitely see your point, Aly, so I added a Best Buffy Summers Custom category.
I've also eliminated the Most Improved Customizer category and have replaced it with Best New Customizer. The details for this category, as well as the Best Customizer category, will be up later on.

It would be tempting for me to enter some of my large busts in almost all of the categories; they are some of my best work this year, but I honestly don't think you can judge a 6" figure against a large scale bust or 12" figure. We shouldn't mix the categories.
I think it will also be hard to judge Busts against Dolls. I've done lots of busts this year. Wayne has had some amazing output in the 12" line and Shivi has gone for a whole new style in the Mini line.
I know it would likely be a shoo-in for each of us to win in our categories, but I'd still like to be able to vote on "Best 12" Doll Custom", "Best Large Bust Custom" and "Best Mini Custom", because we've each made so many this year and it would be fun to find the best of each.

CMK added a "Best 12" Custom" already I know there are at least 4 people who made 12" customs but for the "Best Large Bust Custom" and "Best Mini Custom" I think its not necessary because there are not a lot of these customs you are the only person who made Large Bust Customs, aren't you ? and for the mini's I think there is only buffyfanone and me so these would be boring categories I guess I would suggest to enter these customs in the "most creative custom" category

Wicked Wicca made a Buffy bust from "The Gift" once.
I agree about the difficulty of having busts and 12" figs in the same category, the busts are fairly different from the sideshow figures, the only things you would be able to judge them on would be the paintjob or the hair sculpt. You wouldn't be able to judge them on their clothes really, since the busts are sculpted and the sideshow figs are material and the clothes do play an important part with the sideshow figures.

The current category is this one, which is a joint one for 12" dolls or large busts.
Best 12-inch Figure/Bust Custom -A BtVS/AtS customized 12-inch figure or bust that exhibits creativity and excellence.

Maybe some sort of "others" catagory could work.
Maybe devided into above and below 6 inches...

yeah i agree, i mean busts are all sculpted and painted, whereas 12" figures are totally different due to making the clothes etc, which to me is the most important part of making a 12" figure wayne

The only reason I joined those two together into one category is because not many people on here make 12" or bust customs.
It'd be helpful if I knew who plans on entering 12" figures and busts so that I can see if it's worth separating the two.
As for the mini-customs, I've told shivi that she can place them in the Most Creative Custom category, since I've yet to really see anyone else make anything like it. It's not worth having a category that only one person enters.

That sounds fair enough. Does that mean that 12" dolls and large busts can also be entered in the "Most Creative Custom Category"?

That sounds fair enough. Does that mean that 12" dolls and large busts can also be entered in the "Most Creative Custom Category"? No. 12" figure and bust customs get their own categories (I went ahead and separated them), so there is no need to allow them to be entered into the Most Creative Custom category. Shivi's 1.5" customs are able to be entered into that category because there is no 1.5" custom category. There's no use in making another category for them if she's basically the only one who creates them. -CMK
