Some complain that Donna in a suit (ala Partners in Crime or the promo shots) wouldn't be very in character, it really makes the most sense of all her costumes (at least so far) and it would fit in with the tradition of the companions figures being in the costumes they debuted in. Hmmm. Donna is a bit different to say, Martha...who wore the same outfit for much of season 3. Donna came prepared! She has plenty of attires which leads a person to ask "Well, what IS an iconic Donna outfit?" Obviously the most iconic Donna overall is the wedding dress...but that won't happen. You may get a 7 year old to buy a faceless Granny....but not Catherine Tate in a wedding dress. Atleast that is my thoery on CO's reasoning. As long as she has red hair, I don't mind what she is wearing.

Donna seems to favour things that, to put it bluntly, cover her backside well. Floaty things with belts, or jackets and those trousers that aren't fitted, so anything like that seems the kind of thing she ought to be in to me, I don't think we'll get her in that pink thing she wore at the start of Unicorn though. But I guess Primevals Abby is wearing pink so who knows!

Hopefully they will make multiple Donna outfits like they did with Sarah Jane. Here are the figures that I want from series 4 so far:
Partners in Crime: Donna in suit,Adipose with Miss Foster,Sylvia and Wilf and ( near a zero chance of happening though ) Rose.
Fires of Pompeii:Donna in Roman Dress,Pyrovile,Priestess, seer and I would buy the family if they made them but I can't see that happening.
Planet of the Ood: Ood Sigma, natural Ood and I'd like a Solana figure as well but the chances of one are not likely.
Sontaran episodes: General Staal,a Sontaran soldier ( not Skorr though as I hate him) and obviously Ross. I would like to see a few other UNIT people as well ( including Martha).
The Doctor's Daughter:Jenny, a Hath and a Martha from this episode.
The Unicorn and the Wasp:Donna in dress, the wasp,Agatha Christie and the Unicorn with gun and thief kit.I'd pretty much buy any character from this episode as I really liked it.

**** SPOILERS ****
Possible season 4 spoilers below.
I'm not sure about the Vespiform (sp?) being a figure. I guess it makes sense and the picture certainly indicates as such, but I'm a little disappointed that it is essentially just a giant wasp/bee. Anyone could just go out and purchase a large plastic wasp/bee and they would have a Vespiform of their very own. Still, it's not that surprising that it would be made into an action figure.
As for Donna's outfit. So far my preferance would be for the blue jacket/pants combo she wears in the Sontaran two-parter (even though the white runners look a bit out of place) or the brown leather jacket/pants combo she wears in one of the promo pictures.
I'm not that *fussed* on the pink top/pants combo from the promo pictures and the start of TUATW, but as long as the arms are fully articulated it would be okay (as opposed to series 2 Rose which didn't have elbow joints because of the "bare" arms, although I think Astrid did even though she has "bare" arms).
As for the remainder of series 4. I'd like an Adipose (preferably to scale and plush), a Donna, a Pyrovile (preferably as a larger "deluxe" action figure), a Sontaran (or two) and a Jenny figure. I wouldn't be opposed to another Martha, but I'm not sure how likely that is since she is coming in one of the "mixed series" assortments with a new sculpt (from the series 3 finale).
There isn't much that appeals to me from the first half of the season, but it sounds like the second half will have heaps of action figure potential, so I'm sure my list of "most wanted" will expand (although ideally, they'll just do a jumbo "season 4 finale" 10 figure boxed set).
Cheers.

I know Missistant at the Who forums works for DesignWorks & not Character, but he'd have a pretty good idea of what action figures CO prefer to make. He states there is no chance of seeing action figures of female characters unless they are companions or monsters. So if any of you were hoping for Pompadour, Sally Sparrow, Jackie Tyler, Jenny....it ain't gonna happen.

She's neither a monster nor a companion and on the other hand there are female monster such as the Clockwork Women that were never released. I just don't get the logic behind this decision.

I *think* Connolly falls into the "monster" category since she had the "blank face" alternate head.
Although, I have to admit that I would have expected Jenny (being the Doctor's Daughter and all) to sell better than the Gelth Zombie and Grandma Connolly.
Still, Jenny isn't dead, so perhaps IF she returns in future episodes that will encourage CO to produce figures of her.

In other news, Australia has just received its latest shipment of Doctor Who figures (being the second set of figures we've ever received) and I am now the proud owner of: Space Suit Doctor (from "42"), The Master (in suit), Martha Jones (in red jacket), Jundoon Captain, Scarecrow (blue shirt) and Weeping Angel (screaming).
The figures are available from most David Jones stores for $20.00 each. Also included is Professor Yana, Lilith and Lazlo (although I passed on these as I'd already spend enough with what I did purchase).
This appears to be the latest series that the UK received and is the "painted" head versions of the figures as opposed to the "flesh" coloured plastic used for The Master, Professor Yana etc in the original UK release.
Cheers.

I still don't buy all that Granny Conolly business, there were any number of other characters they could have chosen if they wanted a faceless person as a figure, and the 'one character from each story' thing still hasn't happened - will we ever see an Abzorbaloff? I know the rights are tricky for that one, but surely a ten year old kid isn't going to fiercely object to a toy of a character they designed? Even if he is wearing a thong lol.

She has a monster factor AND she came with the 'big bad' of the episode, The Wire. But... I still don't buy all that Granny Conolly business, there were any number of other characters they could have chosen if they wanted a faceless person as a figure Exactly, same with the Gelth zombie. So they do like putting some female figures in assortments...but they need to fall into the catergory of companions or monsters. It's a different ball game when it comes to Jenny or Pompadour than say Gelth zombie, Hame or Gran Conolly...as Jenny & Reinette are regular human women. I honestly don't think we have a hope at getting Jackie Tyler though.

I finally got the Voyage of the Damned boxset the other day from the Argos in Nottingham.Yay.
Shame about the policy on female figures as there are a fair few regular human women in the series who could be made into good figures.

I think Jenny will be made, simply because she has to be, she's popular and important in the scheme of things.
So I guess the Murder Mystery set won't be including Agatha Christie by this rule then? Bah.

That was one particular example Missitant said he doesn't understand people using. She has a monster factor AND she came with the 'big bad' of the episode, The Wire. I still don't buy it simply since being a faceless victim is hardly monster factor and accessories-wise don't count either as they can equally fit any other figure. Logically they could easily make faceless Rose (calling her differently and without the face not needing to deal with Pillie Piper) and she would have been a lot more successful than some grandma with two heads. Obviously, they could just as easily make Gelth Gweneth (when she was possessed) and she would also sell better. Clearly CO have a very limit perception of what sells and what doesn't so pity for them for loosing all the potential income.

So I guess the Murder Mystery set won't be including Agatha Christie by this rule then? Bah. I gather that would be the exception. If they can throw these kinda women in box sets, it's fine...because kids will buy it for the Doctor figure. My hope is that Missistant was trying to throw us off...perhaps the next assortments will include Pompadour, Sally & co. Ofcourse I'm not counting on that!

I'm not sure we will get an Agatha, maybe there are rights issues? I think that's why we never got a Shakespeare or Dickens. My guess is the set will have the Doctor, Donna, the Wasp and maybe the vicar if they are being generous. The wasp is clearly on the way at least.

In The Unicorn and the Wasp set I don't think that a Robina figure would be that silly to include. If they include her then they will be putting in the characters that appear in the title. Also , she would make quite an interesting figure in my opinion.

I mentioned to Sam elsewhere that I have given up the ghost a little on CO. Until August it's a case of very little return. I managed to pick up two Screaming Angels in the London branch of Forbidden Planet today and that's me up to date. Whenever Jack-with-coat arrives I'll buy him, and maybe the skin suit Slitheen, but then I'm on hiatus till the classic wave.
Hiatus - a word I'd never know if it weren't for being a Doctor Who fan. Along with hubris, serendipity and chitinous.

It is getting a bit silly, to me it makes more sense for figures to be on the shelves whilst the show is on, not afterwards. But I suppose they have their reasons. Part of me wishes they wouldn't show up on forums just to torment people though.
