She does look better in the pictures, I really wanted a "What's My Line" Kendra to add to this. I know that in the first line we got 6 figures, in the second line we got 8 figures (if you include the chases), and in the third we get 7 figures (if you include the Willow chase). I would've loved to see another Kendra or a 2 pack with either "Once More With Feeling" Willow & Tara or "The Killer In Me" Willow & Kennedy, or what would be even better if we got both.
I really don't mind the joints and all because of the action and poseability.

There were 4 torso molds for series 1, a Buffy upper torso, Buffy lower torso, Faith upper and lower. They've only used OMWF BUffy once, I'm sure we will see it again later. What's not to understand? I was just pointing out that Deluxe series 3 is 7 new figures made out of one new body and no one says hardly anything negative about the re-use and then some people are saying that there is too much re-use in the regular line and that they are not as detailed as the deluxe, when actually DST has spent more time, effort, and money on the regular ones.Series 4 will probably have just one new body piece, maybe short male legs and sleeved male arms, or a male torso with tie and removable jacket. They could get a Giles, Wesley, Lindsey, and Gunn from the same body. The Spike/Angel bodies will probably be Riley, Gunn, Wesley, and anybody else they want to do.

I wish the deluxe line would come with bases! It would be really cool if Tough Love Willow came with a wall that had a peg or something coming out of it that could hold her off the ground.

I'm gonna die. I must have them now. Why can't she be crappy like some other figure so I don't have to have to wait till May. May is like 20 years from now. Damn you DST. -Tough Love Willow Loving John

I thought the torso pieces (upper and lower) were the same for all the Buffy/Faith figures with the exception of OMWF?
As for people being happy, I'm pretty sure there is a thread asking whether people are happy with all the re-use in the deluxe figures.
I know I'd personally love if each of the deluxe figures were new sculpts, but that doesn't happen with the regular line, so its not going to happen with the deluxe line where each separate "piece" of the figure requires its own individual mould which is extremely costly.
Its a common problem with the majority of the hyper-articulated action figures, with the exception of something like SOTA's Street Fighter which each have individual sculpts (from memory/experience). Products like Marvel Legends and even SOTA's Charmed Series 2 re-used a LOT of parts.
Cheers, Haeph.

Products like Marvel Legends and even SOTA's Charmed Series 2 re-used a LOT of parts. Cheers, Haeph. Each individual piece from a "super articulated" type figure doesn't necessarily need its own mold. Molds are made based mainly on what material the parts it will produce need to be made from. Like Bad Girls Faith's vest, that's made from a soft PVC type plastic. They probably have four or so of those vests on one mold. I haven't scratched the paint off my (so far) one Faith figure, but if all the body parts are the same "base" color of plastic, then every single part could, in theory, be made from one single mold. If you've ever seen or built a model kit, you've seen that all the parts are on sprues or "trees". Most plastic products come off the mold with a sprue or runner attached. But if a model car kit has a yellow body piece, there might also be a separate sprue with all the black pieces, and another with the rubber tires, and another with the chromed bits. It is also possible that the leg parts are made from one mold, and the upper body parts are made from another. There are lots of ways that moldmaking can be used. Some molds have removable blocks to swap out parts on a mold in order to make a slightly different product. I'm not entirely sure of a "Buffy" example, but I think the Deluxe Angel and Spikes have the same "jacket" arms but with different cuffs. The mold that produces the arm pieces could have two removable blocks, one with Spike's sleeves and another with Angel's. Again I'm not 100% sure since I don't have a Deluxe Angel (yet!). Just some useless injection molding knowledge, from me to you...

I'm not complaining about the deluxe line or the regular line. I think they are both great. I completely understand how fortunate I am to have any of these figures starting with the series 5 Willows. I think DST has done a great job. They have put more effort into the regular line then they have with the deluxe line, yet others are saying opposite. The Buffy/Dawn wave was something like 7-8 completely new sculpts with all new unshared parts and they made about 12 out of them, yet some are saying that is way too much re-use and is cheap or whatever. Deluxe series 3 is 7 figures out of one new body and almost everyone does not seem to care because of the awesome details. This is why they are getting rid of the regular line. It is easier and more cost efficient for them, they can re-use old molds more, hear less complaining about the quality, and as their library of parts builds, they will have to invest less and less while spending most of the budget on great looking head molds. They could conceivably give us any normal looking character that has ever appeared on the show, as long as they can be made from stock molds. I think the sells of the Xander/Cordy, Giles, Faith are really important to the future of the regular line. Let's face it, the Kennedy head on that stock deluxe body does look better than the Joyce head on a stock regular body. The Deluxe way is DST's way. For the people screaming about the huge scale of Cordelia. She is the same size as the deluxe Spike and all future figures. Xander is shorter than Wesley. They are not out of scale they are standard 6" scale. They are exactly what people asked for whether they turned out like you expected or not. I really appreciate everything that DST has given us so far and look forward to more. So, what is deluxe series 4 looking like? July-August 2007?

I definitely fall into the category of "don't mind" parts re-use as long as we get good figures. I was a little taken aback by the Willow body for Joyce - simply because I felt she would have looked much better on the Glory or Dawn-style body. But apart from that, I can't really say any of the re-use has bothered me much at all.
I'm much more sensitive to scale issues though. For example, yes, the line is 6" scale - but that doesn't mean every figure in the line is 6" tall - it means that the *key* figures are using a 6" scale and the other figures are scaled appropriately to that (i.e. say Buffy is the key character and is 6" tall, so Giles would be like 7" tall, an so forth).
But we've been getting such weird scale issues ever since Fred that I can't tell what's going on, other than maybe GG or whoever is sculpting them isn't going by the scale as originally set. And it's more than just height - with Dawn, for example, she is ridiculously taller than Buffy, and her head is HUGE - any of this would translate into a giant is scaled up to real life, relatively speaking of course. So I don't consider myself a screamer about the figures, but it certainly is somewhere between annoying and disappointing that so many of the female figures are so off scale. I mean come on, heels or not, Cordelia shouldn't be taller than Xander. Oz maybe, but not Xander.
I point these issues out in hopes DST will make the sculptor, manufacturing process, or whatever change so that more care is given to the scale (NOT to just be a complaining nasty fan - I LOVE these figures, I want them to do well so we have new ones for years to come!). Of course by now the scale is so messed up that I don't even know how you'd identify what to go by and what constitutes a violation! :-)
Obviously Buffy is the key figure - she's the "anchor" figure so to speak, the "star" and even though the new figures are not exactly the scale of the older Moore ones, they are close enough that it's not atrocious (and from other threads, it seems like it bothers some people and not others).
Anyway, back to the parts reuse bit: I personally don't mind so long as it gets us good figures and helps DST too. Sometimes I think I've figured out their methodology - and then other times I don't! :-)
For example, when looking at the pre-release pics of the Buffy line, I thought for sure that Chosen Buffy and BuffyBot would share the same arms as the sleeves looked almost exactly alike. I also thought the "jackets" would be the soft rubbery stuff and that various torsos would be shared as well (for example, the V neck torso could have been used for Chosen, Cheerleader, HH Buffy's and the Vamp Buffy "high neck" could have been used for Buffybot.
I also figured the legs would would be shared between basically pants versions and skirt versions - but then when they actually come out it turns out there's not nearly the re-use I originally thought there'd be! In the case of say Buffybot/Chosen Buffy's arms - the difference is so very slight - basically just buttons on the cuff - that it makes me wonder why they *didn't* save money and just paint the buttons on.
Also, the torsos are unique as well - none of the jackets are "soft" - they are all part of the mold. So I think that goes to show they don't just go for the cheap and reuse parts willy-nilly as some have suggested in posts elsewhere. I guess it depends on the figure - Buffy should be a big seller so it's probably not as much of a risk to not re-use so much of her parts.
But in summary - parts re-use - fine with me as long as it fits and gets us more/new figures! :-) Scale - that however still needs addressing, and some sort of guidelines need put in place for DST to give the sculptors/manufacturers so they have an idea of the target size a figure should be!!!!

Although I wont be getting any of the Spike & Angel DLX's I will be getting these. It might have something to do with the fact that I think Willow is gorgeous. ;D

I'm with you guys about DST keeping them the same. I wish that they would've done that with Xander & Cordelia figures. The prototypes look better than what we are actually getting.

Easy "Selfless" Willow Variant from Halloween and Deluxe Parts mix-n-match!!! :-)
I was just watching "Selfless" (TiVo'd from the FX repeats - I love FXD and hope they run Buffy forever!!! The only way it'd be better is if TNT would either run Angel just the hour before or behind (instead of 2 a day with one overlapping Buffy - Grr Argh! But imagine if FX got 'em both and ran them chronologically? Maybe either 2 episodes a day for the 1st 3 Buffy Seasons, and then 1 Buffy 1 Angel from then on out until Season 5 Angel which would do the 2 a day format until it picks all up again - would that not be awesome?!?!?!). Oh - the reason for this post - anyway, I was watching Selfless and was thinking how awesomely cool and easy a Selfless Variant for Willow would be! All they'd have to do is use Ghost Willow's legs/feet/skirt head and arms and the Chosen Willow/Buffy/Faith torso and paint it all the right color (and throw on a necklace or paint it on). It'd be so cool - and I love her look in this episode! And she could include one of those nasty Spider Demons as an accessory, D'Hoffryn's Talisman, and maybe some college books or something.
And if DST doesn't do it, then of course I will as a custom (but would so much prefer the real deal!). :-)

I also don't care about any parts reuse. In fact, I'd prefer to have parts reused, then to have oversized figures that don't fit in with past lines.
The Willow prototypes look like the best likenesses of any figures yet, both Mac and DST. I sure hope that the manufacturing process doesn't hurt the likeness. That would be heart breaking!

There's no way that machined paint apps and/or mass produced paint jobs will look as good as these protoypes. It just won't happen! So lower your expectations a bit, and let's just hope they can look close to this.

Oh my... Tough Love Willow is just perfect... I just don't ever get tired from looking at her... It's one of my favorite episodes... She should come with a Glory! How cool would that be? But we REALLY need another Dark Willow!

i think it will be to long to wait till may next year to get them. but it is great figures and i can live with the waiting since at least the willows look spot on. i think this will be a popular line and i must say the best of all the willows we get in deluxe is "though love" willow. it is just so great.

Okay, I absolutely Love The Deleux Figures, I wasn't to big on the Buffy and Faith ones that came out. But this Willow line looks just like her. The similarity is awsome. I reallly love Tough Love Willow and both the Chosen ones.
And I also like the Kennedy figure even thow i dispise the character Kennedy its nice. And I liked how they picked the Chosen Clothing for her because I think thats the only way people will buy her is if shes in the right clothing to match up with the Chosen Willow figure.
I'm not that thrilled about the Kendra figure... It's just that I don't think I like how they made her. I would have liked to seen her in her original uniform she worm in Whats my Line Prt.1 The Purple top and pants. And Her hair put up in a puffy ponytale. And I'm not really big on this similarity to it. But I'm probably going to by her anyways.
Now for the Vampire Willow in the Fluffy Pink outfit. I dont know about it... But It's like really nice to have I guess. Because We have Vampire Willow right? Then DOP Oz Is coming out and I guess having that Willow will sort of make it into a set. So i'll probably buy that aswell.
For all the figures together I dont like there hands especially the closed fists. I don't like how there all closed I'd rather have them open handed so you would be able to put things in both hands, or it would be able to have removable hands? But I dunno lol.
And just wondering will the Chosen Willows becoming in a set together? or by them selves. And will the Kennedy be byherself or in a set with 1 of the Chosen Willows. Or maby even a Willow/Kennedy Box set with both Chosen Willows and the Chosen Kennedy?
And thanks to everyone who had pictures there all amazing. I just can't wait to get this line of figures.

Kennedy will be by herself. And so will the Chosen Willows. About the closed fist hands the prototype Graduation Faith had the same and then when she came out she didn't, so maybe only the protoype's will have them but the final result won't.

Oh thats good about the hands. Because I'd prefer open hands lol. And thats too bad for the Box set lol I would have enjoyed having the Box set of 3 for the 2 Chosen Willows and Kennedy. Anyways Thanks Warriorprince -Tony
