There's an article in the news section on DST's site about the Deluxe Angel and Spike Figures. www.diamondselecttoys.comJust thought I'd let you know.

Wouldn't it be great if future Deluxe releases came with different jackets or shirts that were interchangeable with the previous releases?

Something funny I noticed, which frankly worries me a little: you can see blu-tac (or is that white-tack?) in "School Hard" Spike's left hand, helping him hold onto his accessory. And what is up with his boots? Why haven't they sculpted them properly? Those two Spikes should both have the engineer boots with the pant legs tucked into them. I think it was in later seasons of Buffy (and then in Angel) that he wore different boots, and had the pants pulled over them. Like the other DST (non-deluxe) Spike figures. I'm guessing the Hawaiian shirted Spike will have a bare chest? Looks like that center shirt piece slides off.

I can't see anything buy no way is he holding that on his own! His hand is too open for the axe to just sit the way it is sitting! But maybe this is just like first stages.

Yeah, i guess that's great, but with Angel we can't do so much, i guess i will pick Spike, but i already have red shirt spike and black shirt too. You have the exact same options with Angel as you have with Spike. Either of them can either wear the short black jacket, long black jacket, or either red shirt. You already have a black shirt Spike, but not with the long coat. You may have a MAC Spike with red duster, but you don't have a Spike in the red shirt alone, unless you own some cool prototypes we don't know about.

I'm wondering if it will be possible to put both the red shirt (just the chest part) and the black duster on the Spike figure...

I'm wondering if it will be possible to put both the red shirt (just the chest part) and the black duster on the Spike figure... I'm sure you could, but he might look a bit bulky with both on. School Hard Spike is one my favorites in this line and I hope he is released as good as we see him in the promo pictures.

Even if the red duster does not work with the coat as is, I'm sure you could cut away the red shirt and make it work somehow. I think I will be trying it.

Isn't spike with red shirt and spike with red shirt and a long coat, the same thing, i don't find to much diference about it. Just the same outfit with less clothes. And you can't do so much with Angel, since the 50 angel have other hair style than the modern angel and the hawain shirt Angel doesn't have a removable shirt. Finally we can't make a regular angel with black coat and dark shirt.

I never said they were ideal, I just said that you had options with them. You can do with them whatever you want. You're being nitpicky with the red shirt and the white shirt. Seems like you're looking for reasons not to buy them and I am not the person to be giving those reasons, for all my reasons are in the pro column. If what you really want is an Angel in all black with long coat, I suggest you paint the white shirt black or keep asking DST to make one. It's obvious that DST listens to what we have to say, let's make sure they hear it.

I'm guessing the Hawaiian shirted Spike will have a bare chest? Looks like that center shirt piece slides off. The ax is kept in Spike's hand with one of those clear rubber bands that DST uses, like they did to keep baby Connor in vamp Angel's arm, the sword in WitW Wesley's hand, etc. DST probably used the blue tack to keep the ax in Spike's hand for the photos, so they wouldn't have the rubber band in the pic. I agree about the boots. I think they probably just wanted to go a little more basic with the legs, so they could be interchangeable with other figures. However, I hated the feet so much and they were so wrong fro Spike, that I changed his body out with season 5 Spike, putting the School Hard Spike head, arms and shirt on the regular figure. What I like the most about these new Deluxe figures is that they have separate pieces for the torso and legs, unlike the female Deluxe like that had them as one piece and the break mid torso. The Spikes also have articulation mid torso, as well as at the waist.

That was from the prototypes that were shown a while back, GP I am very thankful that Spike can actually hold his accessories... I'm about to open mine right now!
