Well I am not sure if most of you know this, but my sister Shantel and I share this name because we both love BTVS figures. Shes crazy crane girl if you rember a thread she started. Well anyway, my name is Taylor(Im a guy lol), and I have just relocated to pennslvania. I am in 10th grade and have been in my new school for 3 months. I have made alot of friends and enemies... Alot of people would call me popular but alot of people dislike me. I don't make fun of anyone or anything, but I am a jock/prep and alot of ppeople in my school don't like that. I was going out with this gorgeous girl and I felt very strongly about it untill tongiht when she broke up with me. I spent 400 dollars on her for christmas and now i have loads of things I can never use. But let's get to one of my oodles of problems.... Someone told someone who told someone and so on that I was homosexual. I have nothing against homosexuality and I believe that you like what you like and you can't change that... But I am straight. This rumor has gotten to the point where I don't have very many friends, my girlfriend broke up with me and I have been beaten up twice. I don't know why it has happend... What can I do... Please help me Hadely

Taylor, This is an area I've had a lot of experience in. I actually had a guy that I liked put rumors about me telling on his drinking party to the administration, and circulated it in an underground newspaper, which was all false, I hadn't even known about it. I've spent a lot of time trying to convince people it wasn't true, but I got retribution for the year after it. (My sophomore year - I'm a senior now) And some through Junior year. I even had a snotnosted brat who's a sophomore now tell me that "well everyone thinks you did it." Some rumors will never be over.
My best advice is to deny it - after that, there's not much more that you can do. Some people won't change and you have to learn quickly who your friends are and who your friends are not. First thing, talk to your girlfriend face to face and explain the situation. I lost romantic prospects too through my ordeal, and had to find someone who would care for me no matter what others would say. If she refuses to believe you, then I'd best start looking for someone else and attempting to return the gifts. If people are your friends and care about you, they'll stick by you through thick and thin. I know it sounds easier said than done, but I hope you feel better knowing that someone else has been in a very similar situation. At least people won't go around calling you "the most morally upstanding student," when that shouldn't even be a bad thing.
Please keep me updated - I want you to have a good experience with your new school. I don't want anyone to have to go through even a day of some of what I experienced.
Sincerely, Hadley
