I have just been informed that Dark Horse has alot of new Serenity merchandise planned for 2007. This includes ornaments, sculptures, and a box set that includes mini-figurines of the Serenity crew. More details coming soon!

Sounds like the PVC figurine set that's fairly common in comic shops. I hope they look good!

Woo! I missed this too! I'm glad we're getting more merchandised. Firefly/Serenity has such a loyal fanbase that anything they put out will undoubtedly sell well.

I can't believe I missed this too! That's terrific! To be honest the Serenity ornament looks a little funny displayed w/ the 6"ers. It helps a little if you suspend it behind and above them so it has some forced perspective, but it might work out even better w/ a PVC set. I do hope they look good. Most of the pvc sets I've seen were comic book based and so were easier to get accurate. I can't wait to see them.

The only PZVC set I can think of is from Hellboy. I usually order my figures online so I don't go into comic shops much. I hope they atleast have likenesses. Right now, I am picturing the tiny little plastic starwars figures that used to come in playsets. They were so lame but I loved them when i was little!

And the text:
SERENITY PVC SET
The master sculptors at Gentle Giant Studios have taken full-size 3-D digital scans of the main actors from Joss Wheden's blockbuster film Serenity and created a fabulous, realistically detailed PVC set of the favorite three crew members. This process has allowed us to achieve an unprecedented level of accurate detail, both in terms of the distinctive likenesses and the accessories and costumes. Since you can't get these actors to come visit you at home and sit on your bookshelf or computer, this is probably the next best thing! Featuring Jayne (4" tall), Mal (3.9" tall), and River (3.45" tall). Packaged in deluxe, full-color window box
$17.99, in stores on May 16.

Cool in general but I am bummed that its just going to be just those three characters again, when we already will have representations of them, or will soon...
When I heard PVC I was thinking of the DC ones like Legion of Superheroes and that they could have all 9 cast members in a Serenity ship looking box or something... Oh well...

I am sick of Mal and Jayne... I want Kaylee v.v...
Though they look pretty neat. Someone should make a Serenity Monopoly out of em.

I think they look excellent, for what they are!
I was expecting some over-cartoony interpretations of each character, so seeing these I'm glad that I'm wrong.
The full crew would be nice, though. I'd love a Kaylee, Inara, and Simon set too. With Zoe, Wash, and Book in another. Sigh...

They look great for PVCs, and I feel smart for figuring out that's what the figures were. The character choice makes me skeptical about future sets though... It doesn't seem like they're planning for the future. I guess that they can always do other poses/outfits for these same characters in later sets though. I can imagine a browncoat Mal in a set with two less major characters.

They look good for what they are. I too would rather some other characters for a change. I guess mal and river were the obvious first choices, but maybe another character instead of jayne should have been made.

The look excellent for PVCs, I particularly love Jayne and River. Although it is a little bit of a let down since we already got Mal and Jayne in the first wave of DST figures.

Looks like Dark Horse has improved the bases of these PVC statues! Check out the photo carefully. They're using the Serenity logo instead of a generic piece of flooring. Looks much better! The poses on Jayne and Mal are still the same bad poses, and River is wearing the dress from earlier in the film rather than the dress she wore when she held those weapons, but, it is an improvement anyway: tinyurl.com/39odda

River's dress looks like the one at the end, but it's the colour of the one from the bar fight.
