I seen it in FP, but didn't think it was worth the buy. If the book turns out to be good throughout- then I will get it!

This book sounds interesting. I might pick it up. I read in the Buffy magazine that The University of North Carolina at Greensboro are doing a Buffy screening and lecture series called "Why Buffy Matters: The Smartest Show on Televison". That says something about the Show.

I remember going to a open day in Swansea and the media guy in his lecture said they study buffy! Also my friend who does media for A-level, the whoel class got given text books and theres a whole chapter on buffy in this huge media text book....we were both well impressed. ;D

I actually had a course last year called Analysis of Public Discourse where we had to pick an artifact to study throughout the different types of rhetorical criticism, and this book helped me out a great deal. I ended up using peer reviewed communications journals more in the actual research, but this book as well as "Fight the Forces: What's at Stake in Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Seven Seasons of Buffy: Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Discuss Their Favorite Television Show" as jumping off points for what to look for as well as some good quotes. I have to get around the reading the whole shebang one day once I started reading a lot.

I enjoyed this book a lot - it's one of my favourite critical ones.

I read some of it but it's not worth it because I mean...I know precisely why Buffy matters, I soooo don't need to be sold on that idea.
