Considering the fact Joss is writing the new comic is in the actual Buffy/Angel mag I don't see how it's a rumour. I think the rumor is more about the content than anything else. In the past, the "Buffy" comics were always one-off stories that took place between episodes and had no impact on the continuity of the series. In this case, they're supposed to be a continuation of the series. Again, don't know if this is already published info, since I don't read the "Buffy" magazine.

I heard that it was the Spike comics, but then I read that Dracula was delayed until next week. I'm be happy if any of these comics are out tomorrow though.

Apparently Spotlight - Illyria and Lost and Found came out yesterday in the US so look out for them you guys. I picked these up Wednesday and loved them both. The Illyria story was just amazing and VERY emotional. I'm really liking the one-shots a lot better than any of the 5-parters so far, just because it seems for the miniseries books, the story gets dragged out way too long. "The Curse" was essentially a three-part story divided into 5 parts, and "Old Friends" was one story, that was then rehashed four times. Still, I'll take whatever I can get of these characters.

I really enjoyed both Illyria and Spike L&F. Illyria was touching, very in character and a little chilling (like what happens at the end of her big talk.) If all the one shots are this good I'll be very happy.
I think that I love Lost and found as much if not slightly more than I do Old Times. I didn't expect that since it's the same writer who did old wounds which while good was not as well done as old times. I was happy to see that the guilt Spike felt was not a rehash of Damaged (which I loved) and moved onto an unexplored area with Angel & Spikes' relationship. Everyone was in character, the vamps worked well together and Harmony was a hoot. Ever since s5 of Angel started I wanted someone to address this idea in a plot and I was not disappointed.

I got Illyria and the Scriptbooks 1 & 2, which I thought would be boring but I really enjoyed them. And Illyria was just amazing. I really enjoyed the story and the art. And I think Illyria was well written which I was worried she wouldn't be.

Just read the Illyria one-shot and Spike: Lost & Found. I thought Spike was pretty good and Illyria was probably my favorite IDW Angel comic yet. I liked Illyria before, but the comic made her even more likable. Also, IDW has a 5 page preview of the Doyle comic, which is next to come out: www.idwpublishing.com/previews.shtml

I just went to double-check when each is out and IDW has multiple release dates for each. In one spot, they list Doyle as May 2006 and Gunn as June. In another spot, they list Doyle as July 2006 and Gunn as May 2006. If they have the Doyle up in their previews gallery, then I would assume that he is next because the last one was Illyria and there hasn't been any Gunn preview. If anyone knows anything concrete please share.

I'm pretty sure in Angel Scricptbook #2 there is an ad for the Gunn comic.

Yeah, that's all I'm referring to - the ad in the scriptbook. I thought the Gunn one would be next, as it was advertised. But hey, who knows!

I just got the Spotlight: Gunn and the Spike vs Dracula 3 issues today. Here's my thoughts:
"Spotlight: Gunn": Gunn is my favorite character from "Angel" so I was very excited about this issue. I picked up three different art covers (btw, all the covers look spectacular, but of the art covers, my favorite is the one of Gunn standing there, with the quote beneath him), the retailer incentive photo cover and the retailer incentive sketch cover. The interior art isn't as good as the cover art, but it's not bad. The only problem is sometimes the characters are unrecognizable. For example, on the first page, Wesley and Angel look almost identical. The story is the big problem... it's hard to follow, and honestly not very interesting. I expected more from a Gunn story, even one based in Season 5. Perhaps a better Gunn story to tell would have been a pre-"War Zone" story, especially since none of the other "Angel" characters were central to the story anyway (and that way, we might have seen people like Anne and some of Gunn's old gang, and maybe even Gunn's sister). C'est la vie.
"Spike vs Dracula 3": I'm really liking this whole series. This issue actually bridges us from the end of SvD2 to the Season 5 episode "Why We Fight" and tells the story very well. Dracula is turning out to be a much more interesting character than in his one episode appearance on "Buffy." The one quibble I have with this issue is that the art style changes in the middle. Or I should say it changes at the beginning -- the first 10 pages or so don't look like the previous "SvD" issues, but then suddenly in the middle, they look "normal" again. It's just disorienting is all.

BlackOp: Gunn spotlight: I know what you mean about the art when I saw the first page I thought that the story took place before Gunn met Angel. Spikes' too tall and both he and Angel are wearing clothes that don't seem right for them. It could have been better and told something more meaningful about the character like Illyrias' did. We have already seen this part of Gunns' character and I agree a story from his past would have been welcomed. Maybe something showing why he started fighting vampires. Spike vs. Dracula #3: I also like how PAD connected WWF with this comic showing that Spike wasn't that stupid. I agree about the art and I'm sad to say I heard about that happening again for 5. From what I hear Wesley is next and I'm looking forward to that and seeing if PAD shows how the Immortal got Spike arrested for tax envasion.
