I heard that packaging for these DXL figures will be 'clam shell'. Could someone explain to me what this means, as i don't really know what it's on about.

I think that would be similar to the Sideshow figures packaging. That's what I would assume.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, think MacFarlane Matrix figures, or Movie maniacs, or the Kill Bill figures.

I've not seen any of those. I'll try and find some pics.

Here's some I robbed off ebay: They're plastic boxes with paper inside. Personally I prefer the regular cards.

Clamshell generally allows for more action in the pose...and also it will help keep this line separate from the other figs. I am glad its different packaging...it keeps a little pressure off the completist to find a MOC one...these clamshells don't get damaged as easily (though they do get scratched).

I've always liked clamshell packaging so this is a plus for me. Now my question is: Is the clamshell going to be like the ones from MacFarlane, Neca, etc. or like the ones from Sota's Street Fighter line? MacFarlane, Neca, etc.Sota's Street FightersPicture: www.sotatoys.com/news-archive-display.asp?lngID=40I personally prefer MacFarlane/Neca/etc's ones, they're much cooler. Also the ones from Sota look to much like regular blister cards, and I would like this line to have a complete new look. Now that I think of it, I think I'm gonna post my question on the Ask Diamond thread.

Don't forget Marvel Legends packaging. It basically looks like a standard blister pack, but it has the cardboard back on the inside of a plastic shell, protecting it from wear which is good for MOC collectors (and a pain to open for everyone else)! Since they started the super-articulation craze, I wouldn't be surprised if the packaging resembled that line.
Now where did we hear this is what the packing would be? I must have missed that statement.

I also think that package it's horrible, I really don't want that one.

Eek, I hate these, I mean they look great but I can never open them and I always cut through something important like a trading card when I open them.

I like the clam shell but if they do make it this way i hope its carboard with no plastic over it , like the buble then the bit of carboard going at the side instead of at the top .

i agree with aly, i think its a good idea to keep this line sort of seperate from the standerd. The good thing about the clam is that you can open it up at the back with a knife, slide out your figure and the front packageing is un damaged just be carefull u dont rip the paper lol

I can understand making the packaging different from the regular line of figs, but Good God no! I hate it when figs are sold like this, besides nearly slicing off my fingers, I too always wreck the packing card and anything in with it (like a trading card) and end up with seriously mangled packaging. For me, its definately going to necessitate buying a duplicate of one of the figs as I really want to display Buffy.
Just in case can anyone offer tips on opening to the needy?

Dude, how can anyone have a hard time opening clamshells? I just use scissors along the bottom and the right side and slip everything out. No muss, no fuss. Why anyone would use a letter opener or a knife is beyond me.
It's a sad fact that the packaging is destroyed, but remember: if DST meant for anyone to leave these packaged, they wouldn't have given them uber articulation.

im glad i never keep the packaging as it is literally imossible to get out the figure and preserve the packaging with clam shells! if your one of those collectors who wants both the figure and the packaging, ur gonna have to either leave them MOC (or MICS i guess) or just display the figure w/out the packaging.

clam shell dosnt bud me. i never desplay them on the card so i dont realy care. as far as opening them goes...i just use an exacto knife to cut the back section off and them it just falls right out. the bottom line is, i would buy these if they were sold in susage casing, i just want them as soon as posible! i may sleep infront of the comic book store to get tthese the second they arive!
